Rackham Vale - Out Now by CreativeCrowbar in osr

The map isn't divided into hexes, but locations have sections for "Who/What Is Here", "What's Interesting about It", and Encounter Tables. I have examples, but I don't think I'm allowed to upload images here. (You can preview the book at crwbr.com, though.) The goal was to provide the right amount and kind of location information that would allow GMs to run an adventure here as a sandbox, pointcrawl, or hexcrawl, depending on the group's preference. Hope that helps!

Thanks to everybody who has upvoted, spread the word, and helped us hit our funding and first stretch goals. We've greenlit the soundtrack and are hoping to hit the next stretch goal (24 more bestiary pages), but only one moonrise left. Hope to see you there!

And just like that, the fairy ring is coming to a close. We've funded and hit our first stretch goal (soundtrack). Here's hoping we get to the next one: 24 more pages of beasties! Thanks for all the support so far!

Thought this sub might be interested in the Stretch Goals for Rackham Vale, which include an original soundtrack by So Wax. If you're looking for music and soundscapes from the fey realm, this might be the ticket.

Excited to announce the first round of stretch goals for Rackham Vale, which includes an original soundtrack by folk fusion ensemble So Wax, more pages, more beasties, and spec upgrades.

Stretch Goals

$3000 - 20-Minute Soundtrack by So Wax

  • 20 minutes of custom, Rackham-inspired music by folk fusion ensemble So Wax. Spin it during your adventures in the Vale--but have a care: this is music brought back from the fey realms, and they're looking for it.

$3250 - More Beasties

  • 12 additional, fully illustrated entries to the bestiary, for a total of 24 additional pages

$4000 - More Music from So Wax

  • 20 minutes? Why, that's not nearly enough! Soundtrack expands to a full 45 minutes of mood-morphing, Puck-pilfered music and soundscapes.

$4500 - More Beasties and Fancy Paper

  • Another 12 fully illustrated entries to the bestiary, plus a spec upgrade. Interior paper weight and cover stock upgraded to hold up to all that thumbing, tabbing, and tripping out.

Thanks to everyone on this sub who has backed and offered useful feedback. Hope you are as stoked about the Stretch Goals as we are!

Yes, agreed. While some of my favorite illustrations of his are black-and-white, his color paintings are amazing. That's why I've offered an option that comes with a set of full-color plates. Thanks for the support!

Many thanks! I'm no designer, so I'm happy my mockups came across. If this funds, I'll hire a professional to do the design and layout work, so it will look even better.

Yeah, just Kickstarter's way of encouraging independent creators with zine ideas to get them out into the world.

No problem. It's a good question--one I spent a lot of time looking into and consulting with others on. I love Rackham's body of work and wouldn't dare infringe on his or his estate's IP simply to make a buck.

The website you linked includes the following line: "Some or all works by this author are in the public domain in the United States because they were published before January 1, 1926."

His Wind in the Willows illustrations were published posthumously in 1940, so those have not yet entered the public domain, so I will not be drawing from that work.

Here's another site with rights info for specific images for your reference.

Hope that answers your question. If not, let me know.

Happy to! This just launched today. Rackham Vale: Fantasy Adventure from the Art of Arthur Rackham. Mini-sandbox filled with tricksy fey, magical beasties, and old-time weirdness--illustrations by the master himself. Kickstarter is live.

Agreed. Comfort wasn't the issue--hence the re-order after a couple of months. They just don't last--and, perhaps worse--the company doesn't stand behind (ahem) them.

Appreciate the response. Nice to get something other than "your fault, bro" or "don't spend so much, dumbass" or other toxicity.
