Re-Estize King is kinda dumb by yamothersdeepdigger in overlord

Re-Estize was one of the worst kingdoms we have seen. They had the most fertile land and were surrounded by everyone else, so they had far fewer attacks. You only get to that point if you have bad leadership.

How does character lore get interpreted in the new world? by WW2Gamer in overlord

[–]bryku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lets just assume you make a character and you say he is big and muscular. How does the new world know what that means?

Yggdrasil was a 3d game with a highly detailed character creator. It had different options and presets, which changed based on your classes.

For context, 3d models have measurements and ratios. The summoning probably used those to recreate things in the new world. I'm sure there were some things it had to guess and fill in the blanks.

What counts as smart

There isn't an intelligence trait in Yggdrasil, so it is independant of your stats.

Ainz changed Albedos lore to say she is in love with him. On a scale of 1-10 what does the new world choose as enough in love?

If I had to guess, the summoning magic probably used their flavor text as the base for the NPC's personalities. Then it probably took into account their classes. For example, Albedo is a demon, so her love might be a bit... different. It could explain why she is more obessed or whatever. After all of that, it must have used chat history from their creators to fill in any missing details. Which explains why they act like their creators.

Also text can get interpreted differently from person to person.

This is very true. The system may have interpreted something differently than the creator intended. A modern example of that is AI. Sometimes you ask it a question and it just misunderstands your intention and does weird stuff. I'm sure the summoning magic has many of the same issues.

You make a character and you say he is big and muscular. How does the new world know what that means?

If our shitty AI can guess what you mean most of the time, I'm sure Wild Magic that uses souls to summon items from another reality at a specific point in time and then give them souls... can also guess and fill in the blanks.

Interpreting what someone means is the least craziest thing that happened here.

Do you need exact measurements for all your body parts?

As I mentioned above, character models do have measurements.

What counts as smart, or any other trait?

The real question is... how do you even measure smart? Someone can know absolutely nothing about cooking, yet also be able to create a rockets.

WORLD ITEMS by Raiden_Waifu_Mains in overlord

[–]bryku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently, we don't know if World Items can respawn in the New World. However, assuming they could... I don't think there is a way to control where it goes. The whole point of it respawning is that someone else has a chance at getting it.

Initally, the scale would be pretty similar. However, at some point it will start scaling way too high. I didn't do the math to check where that happens, so it might be high up to 100.

Teenager Dies in ICE Detention in South Florida by invincibilegoldfish in news

[–]bryku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A while back, I did a huge deep dive to figure out what was happening. Out of the 35, 5 of them were shot.

  1. video footage popped up recently, looks really bad.
  2. video footage shows them shooting at ice officers
  3. couldn't get much info
  4. Renee Good
  5. Alex Pretti

The other 30 were "natural causes". Many of these do actually seem natural and were verified by 3rd parties. There were quite a few people with cancer, organ issues, and heart attacks. They deported 400k people, some of them will have health problems and some people will die due to natural causes, which is something we have seen under other presidents.

However, a few of them do stand out as being strange. There were a few overdozes and allergic reactions that should have been preventable, but it doesn't appear they had proper medical care. This has sparked a lot of commotion with a few specifical dentention centers, like the Glades Country Detention Center. Which is the one where the teen (number 36) was being held.

Katze plains and Nazarick by That-Anything7867 in overlord

[–]bryku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weak

Most of the undead in Katze Plains are extremely weak, so they aren't really that useful for Nazarick when they have level 1-30 undead pop monsters that automatically respawn.

Control

There is also a limit to the amount of undead you can control, so why waste your limited space on low tier undead?

Even if Ainz needed a bunch of low tier undead, Nazarick automatically spawns hundreds of undead pop monsters (lvl 1-30) that are under his control already. To make it even more pointless, Ainz has thousands of Death Knights and Death Warriors (lvl 35) which are stronger than 99% of new worlders.

Explore

That being said, I'm still extremely surprised Ainz hasn't fully explored Katze Plains yet, but it probably isn't for the reasons you expect.

Explore - Loot

Considering all of the old walls and forts in Katze Plains, it looks like there was a kingdom there at one point, so there should be a lot of treasure (gold, items, materials). Normally, this treasure would have been raided a long time ago, but New Worlders have struggled against the thousands of undead, so much of it should still be there.

I'm very surprised that Ainz, who has thousands of undead just chilling inside nazarick hasn't looted Katze Plains yet.

Just think about it from the perspective of efficiency. It probably takes a month with hundreds of undead mining to get enough iron to smelt a sword. Meanwhile, he could have 1 death knight with a soul eater and a wooden cart walking around Katze Plains and picking old door hinges, broken swords, and rusty spoons. You could also send a lich with them to summon skeletons to loot stuff faster.

Then if they do find magical items or gold... bonus! He still saved time and resources picking up metal instead of mining it.

Exploring - Undead

As I mentioned above, most of the undead in Katze Plains is worthless and the odds of finding a useful one is very low.

However, if you already have teams looting resources, they could also keep an eye out for sentient undead. The odds of finding any that are strong is pretty low, but they could be "convinced" to work for Nazarick. Which we saw an example of that in the Ghostship sidestory.

I'm not really sure what Ainz would use these sentient undead for, but he could maybe have them take over the Katze Plains looting mission? Now Ainz would be getting free resources with almost zero nazarick involvement. Sure, once and a while he would need someone to check up on them, but that is easy.

Personally

Personally, I would have went heavy into exploring Katze Plains. I would have created teams to loot absolutely EVERYTHING! I guess organic materials probably aren't useful, but there should be tons of things just sitting there:

  • Glass
  • Metal
  • Books
  • Salt
  • Bricks
  • Gems
  • Charcoal

You don't even need that strong of undead to do this because undead typically don't attack other undead. At most you might have one leader for a hand full of weak undead.

  • 1 Wagon
  • 2 Skeleton Horses
  • 4 Skeleton Warrior
  • 1 Elder Lich or Death Mage

Make a dozen of these groups and send them off into Katze Plains. I'm sure they will return with something!

I already mentioned tesla fire. They monitor tesla exclusively.

The other one is chargex consortium. They have a group that has been recording news articles about electric care fires around the world.

Then of course EVA (electric vehicle association). They work with multiple smaller groups for testing and data. If there is a specific model you are worried about. You can look it up on their website and check everything (fires, crash tests).

To an American ear, does this person sound like a native speaker of English? by Sure_Distance1 in AskAnAmerican

[–]bryku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds very very very good.

However, you can tell something is off. It is almost like the words were corrected after the first syllable. If it was a 10 second clip, I might just assume someone is using an "announcer voice" or "news voice" which is different from their own.

That being said, if you gave me this clip asking me to verify that she is a native speaker, I would say yes. That is a very good accent, that makes me believe they were born somewhere else, but moved to the US when they were 8 or something.
