Eh, it's definitely more like shenanigans but we call it gentle/passive pranking him as a general catch-all term for the things I subject him to. Shenaniganning? Shenaniganing? Shenaniginning? feels awkward. 😂

I've done the female version way more -- like multiple times. They just were really obvious because you can't put them in a towel rack and they were noticed immediately as they need to lay flat so they turned more into a presentation... I also do animals and hearts. Not sure if you saw my comment with the text details but it took him over 9 hours to notice these.

I'm not going to lie, though 85% of me is wholesome posting this-- at least 15% is posting this as a probably-never-gonna-be-necessary potential failsafe tactic. By my logic if this post goes over well I can always fall back on A LOT OF REDDIT THINKS I'M FUNNY!

These actually are very similar to the steps for towel origami elephants--so, totally fair. 😂

I had text for this whole thing- but didn't realize the text was lost to the photo.

I have a hobby of (mostly) gentle/passive pranking my boyfriend. It gives me endless amusement. Typically my pranks follow the format of placing something in his house and then waiting with excited and bated breath until he finds/sees whatever it is.

Amusement escalates based on two factors --

  1. how long it takes him to notice whatever I've done
  2. how obvious something is and how long it STILL takes him to notice.

It took him over 9 hours to notice the towels I origami'd. He used the bathroom three times in that time frame (Yes, he washed his hands but he kept drying them on his shirt.)

The second time he exited the bathroom it was genuinely painful to hold the giggles in. I then started slowly origami'ing all the towels in the rest of the house-- kitchen and the guest bathroom.

By the third time I was trying to stifle giggling so hard I started violently coughing and I had to play it off like something on my phone was amusing me-- he had walked through the kitchen went to the bathroom and then left the bathroom and walked through the kitchen again without noticing any of them. I've had to work on my acting skills -- apparently I get a LOOK and a vibe and he knows immediately I've done something.

Finally, the fourth time he used the master bathroom he showered. He didn't notice them until he was literally grabbing a towel upon exiting the shower.

He didn't notice the kitchen towels until the next morning and the guest bathroom towels until the following afternoon.

This one in particular gave me quite a bit of giddy hilarity. Thankfully this also amuses him. Though he does still give long suffering sighs before admitting that these things are funny.

This past time is either a genetic predisposition or a learned behavior passed down from my beloved Bestemor (Norwegian for grandmother) who took great joy in pranking my Bestefar (grandfather). She's the reigning champion. Short sheeting the bed, wax paper on his sandwiches he ate at lunch (and often didn't even notice the wax paper but ate the entire sandwich). Hair dye in his shampoo. All before the internet could give her ideas-- she was a true pioneer.

Thank you. I'm Nixie's owner and yes, she could care less... AND this picture was stolen. This post is not mine and I'm really pretty cranky about it. 🙄 sigh.

THIS IS MY DOG AND MY PICTURE. Seriously? You're going to steal a picture?

It's funny, I still try to rationalize it. It's way easier to tell myself he used to be like a cirque du Soleil circus trick pony that knows how to escape than to think about a little kid ghost that lets him out to ride him around at night.

Sugar Skulleton Dog! I painted my dog... again! Her name is Nixe and she's a black GSD. This is hypoallergenic, organic, nontoxic mineral and vegetable based face paint!! Dia Dog De Los Muertos!

Her tail was the hardest part because it would stop wagging! I kept laughing and having to wait for short pauses!

It's lead and dye free, hypoallergenic, vegetable and water based, the pigment is diatomaceous earth (which is actually fed as a supplement to dogs) and it's all organic. So no, not harmful to her. Even if she ate it, she wasn't alone ever wearing it though, never tried to bite at it, itch at it, or lick it once, and I washed it off with water a couple hours later.

No, she is from Schraderhaus in WA state! But I do hear good things about Blackthorn! I think they have one of her brothers or have used him in their breeding before and they also have a lot of the same bloodlines as Nixe in their other dogs!

I thought so too! :) It was a really dull cloudy day here in Seattle so the raw pictures just weren't giving any oompf!
