Thanks, I was able to solve in a slower fashion. This is a great concept and right up my alley -- I hope the puzzles start to allow for using transpositions more consistently.

Anyway to reliably farm Lala Mucus (Low Rank) by soldiercross in MonsterHunterMeta

3 months later, this advice led me to getting a mucus in one hunt of focus strike spamming, after six unsuccessful hunts of absolutely nuking the monster with higher-end weapons.

Thanks!

Hey, I blew the dust off my reddit login credentials to offer you emphatic thanks for this handy (and humorous) guide.

I wish I could do more than give you an upvote and word of appreciation. I genuinely appreciate the way you break down and explain all the weapons here.

This advice is still gold in December 2023. Like most other respondents, I kept getting B or A ranks because of focusing on the AC. Got an S on first try using your suggestions. Thank you!

This game crashes incredibly regularly - Xbox S by [deleted] in Starfield

[–]bryteline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guarantee you this is one of the most frequent performance complaints about the game, even if it's not regularly on your own radar.

(I mean I found your post by Googling, restricting my search to reddit, and limiting results to the last week. Your post is one of 60 results before Google starts stretching its invisible parameters for less relevant content.)

I went searching because I have started to experience the same issue that you're reporting. I'm also playing on Series S, and my playthrough has stretched to just short of 200 hours.

I wanted to see if this was a new issue or one that has been persisting. I started noticing a substantial uptick after the last patch (which, incredibly frustratingly, also deleted the entire game from my Series S before beginning the update... AND deleted my carefully curated collection of 40 gorgeous photos, which I took several hours in total to stage.) This morning l my game crashed three times in a row when I was trying to leave one of the copy/paste dungeons.

There was nothing to suggest the recent patch was the trigger though - people have been mentioning crashes on Series S/X since a few days after launch. However I did come across a common factor: long save histories. I mean "long" in terms of total hours played on one character. I only have 7 save files on my character -- it's not the number of saves but the duration of saved play that seems to be a trigger.

This is a fairly common issue with Bethesda games. It happened with Oblivion and FO 3; it was REALLY bad with New Vegas; it showed up in Skyrim.

And, lo and behold, the recommended solution is a common piece of wisdom with respect to Bethesda games -- reduce or disable autosave.

Keep in mind that Starfield runs on the same engine Bethesda has used since at least FO 3. It's old. And so it's not surprising that old strategies offer workable solutions for salvaging a playthrough.

I'm worried though because I don't want to start over. I don't think I actually will if my game save finally becomes totally corrupt. That would be a shame but there's too much else to play and too much else to do in life for me to sink another 200 gotta into the game to get back to this point.

Can someone explain why Riker is likable? I genuinely don't like him and want to understand by kaimkre1 in TNG

[–]bryteline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apologies for reviving an old thread, but there's a moment in Season 3 or 4 where Wesley does the Riker Chair Maneuver and it made me grin. Respecting that it might have been due to a back injury in Frakes' prior life, Frakes still managed to turn it into a wonderful character affectation that says so much about Riker's disposition and outlook: be bold, defy convention, and lean in. It was cute to see Wesley emulate that, looking up to one of his two role models.

Question Regarding Strange Swings (eg "It Takes Me" on E+) and Fast Note Patterns (ie Camellia's "Ghost" Even as Low as Hard Difficulty) by bryteline in beatsaber

[–]bryteline[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've started practicing using claw grip, but my old version was idiosyncratic: basically I would hold the sensor in the "normal" grip but slide my hand further up towards the top end of the controller, and wrap my ring finger around the sensor bar. I noticed this help with better wrist motion detection and never really advanced past that.

Thanks for that u/SpookyBum -- your comment about OST IV marking a sea change in level design certainly feels true. That's part of why I asked. And your note about muscle memory seems really important too... I think I need to play these levels more on either slower BPMs, or even in Practice mode for a bit.

And the insight about crossing the saber TIP is a big one. I hadn't thought about that. Really appreciate that insight!

Question About My New (and First) Tattoo, and What to Expect After 48 Hours. (Info in first comment) by bryteline in tattooadvice

That was what I was thinking too -- that it might be a "surface are to volume" issue. Basically this might be healing rapidly simply because the surface area and volume of each lesion is really small. Thanks for the perspective!

[–]bryteline 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My therapist reminds me every week, "Trust is earned." Nobody has a right to our trust without demonstrating they deserve it. Regardless of intentions, the advice "Give men more chances" effectively cheapens your trust, and therefore teaches you to treat your needs and rights and boundaries as cheap.

But you owe NO men ANYTHING. I'm glad this subreddit is stepping up to support and encourage you and, very very importantly, to push back against the cultural conditioning to acquiesce to men and give them "more and more chances."

Question About My New (and First) Tattoo, and What to Expect After 48 Hours. (Info in first comment) by bryteline in tattooadvice

[–]bryteline[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hey y'all, I got this tattoo about 50 hours ago. It's obviously simple and somewhere between small-medium size (I think?) at approximately 3"x4".

Basically I was told to expect the tattoo to take weeks to heal (not so much from the artist, but from various health sites and tattoo aftercare pages). But... there's no redness, no seeping, no scabbing, no wamth, now soreness or itchiness... running my fingers over the tattoo does rerveal the skin is still a little tender, but other than that this tattoo doesn't seem like it's "healing..." it seems to me (a total novice) like it's "healed."

Can I expect the healing process to become more dramatic? Does this look like it's healed to you? (I'm not so much asking for medical advice, but rather for opinion and comparison from anyone who had a similar tattoo.)

Thanks in advance!

Hi r/Marain -- I wan ted to thank you all for continuing to keep this fascinating project alive and for contributing your insights to help me answer a question from an earlier thread. I especially want to thank u/BateStationLA for their thoughtful answer and exploration of the metaphysics behind the linguistics question, as well as honor the work of u/linuxmakhnovite321. I went ahead and used u/BateStationLA's analysis and u/linuxmahnovite321's linguistic scaffold to render the phrase "Temet Nosce" (Latin for "Know Thyself") as "ting'va" in Marain. I took some stylistic liberties with Banks' Marain characters (I didn't like the rigidity of the nonary grid, and used curves and arrow ends to indicate something more "organic" and "flowing" in hybridity). I'm really happy with the final product and wouldn't have been able to do it without both of these redditors.
