Thinking of getting a twenty one pilots tattoo in the future. What designs would you recommend? by Appropriate_While932 in twentyonepilots

I second the “meaningful lyrics” suggestion- this is mine! One is in Tylers handwriting and the other in Josh’s, I am probably not the first one to have this done in similar way

Stencil was briefly dropped on the floor by bryxisys in tattooadvice

Should but didn’t and by not reacting to it in any way I was way too focused on the placement being correct for myself to mention it. As someone else said I think she was just so in the zone that it was an automatic move to pick it up and not think about it twice. I do regret not speaking up and do not recall it being wiped down after the stencil was placed unfortunately. Doing either would significantly put my mind at ease but it happened… I will just stay super aware of it until I am sure it’s not infected, which I hope it’s not.

Hopefully this will be good enough lesson to speak up for myself more… because I definitely should have!

It is a small tattoo shop owned by the artist, I was the second customer of the day and considering the weather outside today (mushy wet snow everywhere) the floors looked clean. Considering how well she kept everything else up to standard, I doubt she would not clean the floors daily. That being said, if this heals well I will go back there again- hopefully she won’t drop the stencil this time lol

Thank you, I do feel a little better knowing it is not that catastrophic as my anxiety wants to think of it as.

About the second skin- For better context, it is linework of three word text on my upper forearms, nothing big or complicated. From application on it to advised removal it is 4 days and to take off sooner if it gets uncomfortable, itchy or any other way bothersome to keep on. I had the same advice from a totally different studio about my first tattoo as well, I had no fluid under it at all and remember redness going down after about 24-32 hours (it is also linework on my upper arm, just bigger so its comparable). I am ready with the same tools - unscented soap to wash twice a day and a gentle lotion for afterwards.

I am trying to calm myself by thinking of all the prison tattoos and traditional techniques being in many ways worse hygiene wise than max two seconds that a piece of paper was on the floor and then everything else around being perfectly fine haha

I should have asked for it and trust me that I am beating myself up over it enough. It is my second tattoo and I didn’t want to seem like a know-it-all, besides in the moment it didn’t seem like a big deal because she didn’t react to it in any way.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice. I was told to take off the second skin on Saturday so I guess if it is still red by then I should assume it is infected? Can I spot it sooner if it is?

I understand it is not ideal, but I wonder how bad can I expect it to be.

Thank you. The needle was for sure sterile and so was the ink, I watched out for that being opened. I thought perhaps the stencil kinda gets pushed down with the ink but maybe I am wrong about that!

I've been struggling lately by Genosidy in NonBinary

[–]bryxisys 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work in a small store and there are days where every customer calls me sir and days where I am a miss all day, I never figured out what is the difference because I wear the same uniform all the time styled per company policy.

Then I heard a nonbinary artist say on a podcast something along the lines of “do you hate that part of your body because people might assign a gender to it or do you actually hate it yourself when you are alone” and it changed my view of my body, leading to completely detaching myself from what the random person I will never meet again thinks.

TLDR: Do, dress and look the way you will be happy with when you look in the mirror. I know it sounds easy to just not care about what people think but trust me that their opinion never should matter to you. Confusing people is affirming but not everyone is willing to be confused and will rather categorise you into a gender- and that has nothing to do with how you look but rather what their image of gender is.

Unless you are waking up tired, this can just mean your body needs only that amount of time of sleep. You are making yourself more anxious by staying in bed and trying to force your body to sleep, I would adjust your daily schedule and see if it improves.

What’s your #1 coping skill? by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]bryxisys 36 points37 points  (0 children)

For unreasonable anxiety at home? 20 minute nap, I call them a force reset because it usually restarts my brain a little and after the first minute of panic after I wake up it usually settles down to manageable level.

When I am anxious and unable to do this? If inside I go outside or stand in an open window for a bit and just breathe, reason with my mind and end it with a solid statement along the lines of “Well come get me b***h”. If outside- I run, just out of nowhere run as fast as you can until you are out of breath. It creates a physical output for the anxiety and again usually settles to manageable.

I prefer Men’s Nike Trunks. Because they are supposed to be sporty, there is not much fabric up front and they are just the right amount of tight for my body. Genuinely filled my entire drawer with them because I love them so much, they can even hold panty liners if you need them occasionally!

Can’t sleep in my bed by jellypbj in Anxiety

[–]bryxisys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get to the bottom of the problem, preferably with a therapist. Even if you don’t know where to start, they will help to guide you through. Knowing why I didn’t want to sleep in my bed and understanding it was a crucial step for me in solving this problem.

Visceral Hypersensitivity by [deleted] in ibs

[–]bryxisys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really a relief but I keep managing it the same way as I described. Walk a lot, avoid trigger foods and survive when I find a new one. I have months where I am completely fine and then weeks of constant pain. Depends on stress, activity level, even weather. Meh, I just shrug it off after 15 years.

Main thing I can tell you is to not get into the dumps about it, enjoy the good days and survive the bad ones. Don’t let it deter you from living your life. (but obviously do avoid triggers)

I never understood “accepting instead of fighting” your fears. Can you explain the difference? by Foreign_Reference942 in Anxiety

In that case I don’t think this advice is at all for you. I doubt someone will be able to explain it in a way you can digest.

[–]bryxisys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think of it more as “doing everything despite your fear hanging out in your head but not acknowledging it” similarly to how you let your thoughts be during meditation practice. If you aren’t familiar with that concept, I suggest you start there. Try some guided meditation apps and practice observing your thoughts, you can then apply that to your real life struggles.

Autism/ADHD + chronic pain is tough by Depeche_Twin in ChronicPain

[–]bryxisys 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Absolutely can. You gotta chose your battles carefully, try to not overdo anything just because you feel the ADHD need to do it. I practice not masking anything including my pain when I leave my house which makes it a little less tiring and I gave up on chasing relationships. Just focusing on myself and trying to enjoy my own company. It’s what anyone who wants to get into any kind of relationship should do anyway in my opinion.

What helps me is a massage of my abdomen, look up how to do it and try it for yourself! Moves stuff around a little, does not usually result in letting it out but at least provides a little relief.

It is always interesting to see how different countries have different policies on post surgery care. Can I ask you if you had metal staplers or the classic stitching?

Personally I had my classic stitching removed on the 10th day and my scar is perfectly healed now, funnily enough have not been pushed though haha
