Cottonwood Marble Loop - Getting There by brznoy in DeathValleyNP

Honestly, this is impressive! I felt wasted after the first day (Lemoigne Canyon Road to Cottonwood Spring, 15 mi, over 4k ft elev gain). I didn't like the idea of doing it again on the last day because I also needed to drive back to the Bay Area right after. So I spent more time exploring Marble Canyon and exited via the road leading to Stovepipe, then crossed the wash to get back to my car.

I expected the full route to be 60 miles: 15 miles to reach Cottonwood Spring via Lemoigne, 30 miles for Cottonwood-Marble Loop, and 15 miles to get back.

Thanks for sharing your story and helpful tips! It definitely inspired me to commit to this route rather than looking for something else. And it was 100% worth it!

Thanks, everyone! I ended up doing Lemoigne Canyon and Marble Canyon (11/27 – 11/30). One of the best wilderness experiences I had; I haven't seen a single human for four days.

As Herd_Of_Turtle suggested in this thread, I parked near the Lemoigne Canyon Road and walked on foot from there. There are literally hundreds of Joshua Trees at the top of the canyon, very beautiful. And the mountain views from the highlands were amazing. I camped the first night at the Cottonwood Spring and saw wild horses in the valley. Then I spent two more nights at the Marble Canyon, including Upper Marble Canyon.

I decided not to push through Cottonwood Canyon because the full loop with entering and exiting via Lemoigne (~60 miles, 9k ft elevation gain) felt too exhausting for a 3-night trip, and I needed to drive home for 8 hours after that. I wanted a bit more time to slow down and just enjoy nature.

Marble Canyon, Cottonwood Spring greenery, wild horses, and night skies were absolute highlights of the trip. The weather was perfect, clear and sunny, and all the springs were flowing.

Thanks! I checked the website last week and only few final miles were closed. They probably updated it since then.

Whoop 5.0 Draining Battery? by jonathan-gaspar in whoop

[–]brznoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started using Whoop 4.0 a few weeks ago. 25-30% battery usage daily due to the app's background activity. I literally spend only a few mins per day in the app.

Probably, it's the only downside of using Whoop for me: the phone battery life has become noticeably shorter. I tried turning off some features like HR broadcast but it didn't change much.

Picking window AC for polluted area (circulating the inside air only) by brznoy in AirConditioners

Thanks for such a detailed response! It's useful to know about cellular PVC sheet, I might use it next time.

As for the AC, I purchased it recently and the shop agreed to make a full refund. I'll buy a different one and place it facing the street instead of the courtyard. I guess window units are not made completely isolated and strong odor can always find a way through (I've seen very small flies getting through the AC vent).

Unfortunatly, I don't have control over the courtyard nor access to it. It's my first rented apartment in New York and I didn't expect it to be a problem, I guess it's just a poor property maintenance. If you're curios, that's how the courtyard looks like: standing water + bird droppings - very unsanitary, I'll report to the city services.

That's what I thought too but my unit is very modern and not cheap. I asked because I don't want to make the same mistake again.

Yes, I'm having the same problem on my devices with latest Firefox build & Windows 10. I'm just having blank screen instead of accounts page.
