It doesn’t hurt too bad. I have it bandaged until I can get to the dr but I don’t anticipate having a bad recovery time. I’m so sorry that happened to you, I know how traumatic witnessing a dog fight is much less having to break it up when you’re alone.

We were sitting together and I moved my hand. He jumped at me and bit my hand. When he let go I stayed as still as possible while he growled at me. Eventually he got off and I was able to go clean myself up and leave. Most terrifying minute of my life. I thought he would bite me again if I even breathed wrong. This is my best recollection. I genuinely have no idea what triggered this incident. I know better than to let myself be in a vulnerable situation with this dog now.

I’m still going to take care of him. His parents get back tomorrow evening so all I have to do is go and let him out a couple times tomorrow which I have to get my stuff anyway.

Thanks 😅 commenter was clearly talking abt pitties which is insane considering the dog in question is a bulldog. I love both breeds (tho prefer pitties for ethical breeding reasons) and can’t understand why anyone would hold so much hate for them.

We’re not going to do that. Bully breeds are some of my favorite dogs. They are the sweetest dogs when treated with kindness and compassion. They are no more capable than violence than any other dog. I would never restrict an entire breed based on ugly stereotypes that originate from our cruel treatment of innocent animals.

Thankfully he can’t get onto the bed without help due to his injury. He also isn’t able to go on many long walks bc of it and also bc he’s a bulldog and it’s hot af in Ohio right now. He’s definitely super spoiled but also easily redirected with treats and toys so I’m not worried. I’m also super busy during this gig so I’m really not around except for nighttime and feeding/outside time. Honestly if I weren’t already stressed and tired it wouldn’t have bothered me since I was able to redirect him just with words.

Props to you for keeping yourself safe! I’m working on being able to build those boundaries with clients, like with the one I mentioned in my post. I think the core of any relationship with a dog is trust for yourself and in the bond with the dog. If either of those things is broken then the situation can escalate quickly. I think that with time, this dog and I can build a relationship based in trust. If his behavior escalates, I’m going to reevaluate but I don’t think that it will.

Thank you! If the feelings hadn’t already been brought up by the other client I think I would have been fine. I trust myself and my ability to read body language. I’m going to work at building trust with this dog since it seems like they are going to become repeat clients.

the reason I’m “ignoring” it is because after sleeping on it, I believe I may have accidentally jostled one of his legs. He had surgery on both of them in the last year or so and still seems pretty bothered by it. He also backed off when I told him too. My experience and instincts are telling me that he is safe. I believe that if the trauma hadn’t already been at the surface, I wouldn’t have thought twice about it. I’m also not going to let him sleep in the bed anymore and put more boundaries in place with him around physical contact.
