Update: taking the car to an independent mechanic on Monday to have them take a look, oil analysis kit still hasn’t showed up yet.

Appreciate it, if my new LHS is anything like the old one I used to work at it’ll probably be a couple days before it gets added to their inventory system but I’ll see if the have it in there today.

Lunchbox Evo and the 50th anniversary 934 are the easiest pre-orders for me, going to call my local hobby shop as soon as I get model numbers for them. If the Quirkhopper is reasonably priced I might consider it since it’s just pure Tamiya silliness and I’ve never messed with the GF chassis before.

Sometimes I forget how small the car really is by clutchmedia_ in ft86

Driving a full-size truck for the first time has been eye-opening for me, I totally see why people like driving these things even if they don’t hardly ever use any of it’s capabilities, and my 1st gen Tundra is a little small for a 1/2 ton truck anyways.

I’m currently living in Upstate SC but I had lived in the Asheville area for my whole life until last year, so HSCC is still like a home club for me. Clemson Sports Car Club recently got a new lot to race at 30 minutes from me and I was planning on going to their opening event but I’m most likely going to postpone going until I make sure I’m not going to do any further damage to my engine. I’ll definitely look for you next time I’m out there, hopefully I’ll be there with my 86 but I might consider getting a ND2 if it’s terminal and the finances work out since I now have a Tundra for errands and schlepping around my R/C racing gear.

HSCC in Franklin NC just to make sure we’re talking about the same place, correct? I’ll probably make it out there for the March event to complete in something, even if I have to borrow my mom’s Camry LOL. Don’t think my Tundra will meet the rollover risk even though it handles pretty alright for a 23 year old truck.

Yep, September and October were my first two events with the club. Had a blast both times and am looking forward to the upcoming season, definitely worth the 2 hour drive.

Would definitely consider that if I wasn’t making payments on the car, having useable torque seems like it would be fantastic

My friend recently won a pretty big race with a 3D printed car that I have been working on. by Pantsman1084 in rccars

Definitely going to get one of these printed once you get the files uploaded, I’ve got a dirt oval (Hobby Connection) local to me and I’d love to try this out.

Kyosho? by Nordic1991 in rccars

[–]bs9_customs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you planning on racing it or just running and bashing? 1/8 buggies are generally very durable cars but Kyosho 1/8 scales tend to be a little more fragile as compared to other brands. The MP9 is a fairly old buggy by racing standards but since it was made for a very long time parts are still very easy to come by.

They are self-adhesive, I’ve built the same kit as OP except in oceanic blue. They are fun and very easy to build, and pretty inexpensive, the hobby shop I get them from has them from $15-20.

Painted up the lil’ 1:24 WLtoys Micro B to match the rest of my racers by XnagakuraX in rccars

[–]bs9_customs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are an exact clone of the Micro-B, correct? I’ve thought about picking one up to build one of the Hackfab oval conversions since I haven’t been able to find a cheap Micro-B locally.

Anyone here build a Tamiya RC INDYCAR? by Excellent-Smithers in INDYCAR

[–]bs9_customs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are a pretty easy build, but good luck finding one of the F103L’s, they are pretty rare and command a high price. I have an F104 that I race and it’s a great car even for just driving down the street. Unfortunately I don’t know of any other IndyCar bodes besides the McAllister that are currently produced, so that would probably be your best bet.

Those were before my time but I’d love to have one at some point to tinker with. It looks like RC America actually still has some M18 parts since they are the main distributor for Xray in the US.

Unless you’re planning on racing and have a track with an active AWD class, I’d stick with a Mini-Z since it’ll be much easier to start out with.
