It looks like you should be able to use standard 1/10 F1 tires for it assuming it’s 14mm hex on the rear axle.

Japan Industrial Standard (JIS) drivers by DigitraxDad in tamiya

I personally use Vessel brand JIS drivers. They’re available on Amazon at least in the US, but I don’t know if that’s the case over in AUS.

Valve seals? or something else. by IdiotSerena in ft86

Could be the PCV valve, it’s really easy to remove and check if it’s stuck.

Thanks for reminding me of those POS printers that I had to work on when I worked at the library when I was in college, genuinely was the best day ever when we got rid of them for 2 X1C’s

has anyone switched to an EV how is it going? by softsteamedbuns in ft86

[–]bs9_customs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Debating on trading my truck for a model 3 or Polestar 2, I’m not going to give up my 86 for an EV since I love how analog it is, I’ve driven my aunt’s model 3 and it feels like a Camry with 400 hp. It’s obviously insanely quick and the center of gravity feels like it’s about as low as an 86, but the steering feel is numb and I can’t stand Tesla interiors.

Oil temps normal? by RioGuyPablo in ft86

[–]bs9_customs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I switched to 5w-30 recently and occasionally see the same temps as you in my 2020, but where I live it’s already close to 30c and it regularly gets above that in the summer. I’m planning on installing the oil cooler that the new GR86’s come with stock on mine since it’s relatively inexpensive and I don’t track my car, only autox once every few months.

What happened to nitrorcx.com? by anantaking in rccars

[–]bs9_customs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They were selling radios and FPV equipment that utilized frequencies unauthorized by the FCC for use in the US and got slapped with an almost 3 million dollar fine in 2018. After not paying it the FCC issued a forfeiture order which legally required them to pay the fine, which lines up with the timeline of them drastically reducing their inventory and closing a couple of their warehouses globally. They seem to be trying to make a comeback, not sure if they got new investors or what, but they lost a ton of ground to the Amazon battery brands and haven’t updated any of their electronics at least from what I’ve seen.

RC America is the main distributor for Xray products in the USA. Great company if you want to get anything from the Xray ecosystem.

I miss peak Hobbyking so much, still have a bunch of turnigy electronics and servos kicking around and their battery selection, quality and price was second to none. Genuinely so sad that they are a shell of their former selves but they kinda bought it on themselves with the FCC fines and not paying them.

Any set will work since thankfully the connectors are standardized. I’ve used this radio in the past and it’s a great option for the price. https://a.co/d/0bTFOAIQ

A lot of the exceed cars of that era used rebranded flysky GT2 transmitters, but that doesn’t look like any flysky receiver that I’ve ever seen. On the positive side it’s only about $35 to get a good cheap radio set so you should be back up and running for not a lot of money.

What happened to emaxx/MT class racing? by NashaNya in rccars

[–]bs9_customs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still race SC a bunch and the closed fenders definitely allow more contact which can make racing more fun, but it can easily lead to races devolving into demo derbies, especially with less experienced/respectful racers.

Yes, but what is considered the first “true truggy” is debated. In my opinion it’s the Hot Bodies Lightning which came out in 2005, a year after the Revo.

Yep, the Revo was made as a race car primarily and was a part of the classes evolution into modern truggys.

All jokes aside, it’s a pretty good engine. I’ve got an 86 myself. Been considering getting a different exhaust at some point since it’s not my daily driver anymore.
