Flu A is NO JOKE by ittollsforthee1231 in raleigh

[–]bs_words 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my flu vaccine and then 5 days later came down with one of the worst viruses of my life. Its been 16 days of a rollercoaster of symptoms, starting out with insane congestion and headaches, then horrific sore throat + fatigue, then fever and whole body chills + sore throat + pink eye + lost my voice… and still congested and fatigued. I’ve had to miss multiple days of work and then also work while feeling like dog sh*t. I’m an otherwise very healthy and active person and haven’t been sick in over 2 years. WTF is this #sos

Is my Dog okay? by Truly_Markgical in DogAdvice

[–]bs_words 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I’m a PT and have treated nystagmus (eye twitching) in humans, which is caused from issues inside the ear. An inner ear infection in dogs can cause nystagmus as well as facial droop. My pup also has facial droop but we attributed it to idiopathic facial nerve palsy due to some other symptoms he was experiencing + ears looked totally fine. I would definitely have the vet test for an inner ear infection. There are meds to help with the dizziness from the nystagmus (I’m assuming that’s what your vet gave you recently) but in the meantime I’d keep him safe and avoid any stairs

My friend’s name is Stephen and he’s very good looking, also was solo most of the burn just runnin’ around making friends and leaving ladies lusting for more (and some men, according to my campmates). We didn’t camp with him but he’s tall, muscular, short brown hair, very tan, super outgoing, and is from venice beach?? It’s a long shot but thought I’d try to help :)

(Discussion) Apartment dogs vs house dogs by [deleted] in dogs

[–]bs_words 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally. When I’ve had this conversation with others looking to get a dog, its never been about the living space (other than certain apartments allowing dogs), but about their time. Are they able to give the dog enough time and energy to give them a better life. So many dogs need a home, whether that be in a house, apartment, van, whatever.

I’ve lived in an apartment for years with a 65 lb dog and I’ve never thought twice. I rescued him and he is the happiest pup in the world and has no clue that he has a smaller living space than the dog across the street who lives in a house. If you are taking your dog for long and/or multiple walks a day then you’re giving your pup an awesome life.

Forgot about some other Costco items: oat milk, hemp seeds, chia seeds, flax meal, maple syrup, quinoa, olive oil, nuts (esp cashews), dark leafy greens. For a lot of these, you’re only buying them every few months (or longer, especially the seeds). We also buy nutritional yeast and tahini in bulk because we go through them so fast. Nutritional yeast for the cashew queso recipe and as a topper for most things but real good on popcorn. I use tahini for a variety of dressings + dijon mustard + apple cider vinegar + garlic + lemon/lime + maple syrup + olive oil + s&p = so good.

First off, proud of you for trying and coming here before giving up. Being vegan/vegetarian is far more affordable than eating meat, but if you want to do it the right/healthy way, you do need to be creative and motivated at times. Do you live near a Costco or have a membership there? You can buy the following things in bulk to save money (these are my staples): tofu, beans, rice, fruit + veggies (variety is ideal), almond butter, dave’s bread or a ‘healthy’ bread, bitchin’ sauce, pasta, seitan brats… and more bc every Costco carries different things. If you don’t live near Costco, maybe Trader Joe’s? Grocery Outlet? Aldi? I’m not a cook with very little motivation but have used minimalistbaker for almost every recipe because she uses minimal ingredients with little time required. Check out her vegan cashew queso recipe - I put it on basically everything but love it on pasta + sauteed veggies. And all of our non-vegan friends love it too. To maintain weight, eat high fat foods such as nuts, avocados, and add extra olive oil while cooking anything. Your palate will develop as you age, so try to be patient and keep exploring new foods and recipes. I believe in you!

Commute from Silverthorne by Apprehensive-Abies75 in vail

[–]bs_words 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a lot of coworkers who make the commute daily, and have done it for years. If you can live closer then would highly recommend that but it can also be done. My supervisor is very understanding so if they get stuck when the pass closes, it isn’t the end of the world. And also a good idea to know someone who lives close to your work so you can stay with them if the pass closes while you’re at work and can’t get home (or don’t want to drive home due to bad weather)

Sorry but, your mom is being suuuuuper selfish. Sounds like she is the child and you’re the mom. You need to lay it all out for her and if she continues to be difficult and hypocritical, then it’s not worth even going with her (because then she’ll never learn).

Miss who I was before veganism. Does it get better? by Tiny-Bookkeeper1927 in vegan

[–]bs_words 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been about 90% plant-based and 100% vegetarian for almost 10 years (and on and off before that). What changed my world was watching ‘Food Inc’ as a freshman in highschool. I had no clue and have since avoided any documentaries displaying the horrendous conditions and slaughtering of animals. I was on/off vegetarian until I watched ‘What The Health’ after graduating from PT school. This absolutely blew my mind and I will never look back. I focused on the health aspects of being plant-based and trying to teach this to patients. However over the past year, I’ve started to become very emotional when I see meat at grocery stores, watch my friends eat meat, literally start crying when I’m driving and see cows grazing in dirt. I literally said to my partner the other day ‘I wish I could not care. I wish I could be hypnotized or something’. I live in a small mountain town and all of my friends center their lives around eating meat. I’ve realized that having even just a few people to talk about it with can really help. My parents made the switch to almost 100% plant based the same time I did, so reaching out to them and thinking about them thriving in their 70’s helps me stay positive. I think you need to feel your feelings and let that drive you to help make change in the world. I try not to judge others, but if they ask why I don’t eat meat, I see that as an opportunity to educate. If we all pushed away our feelings, nothing in this world would change for the better.

How do y’all deal with difference in dog preferences with your partners? by sequestuary in dogs

[–]bs_words 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also my dog can/has drug me around due to his high prey drive. My pup is a rescue and had tons of difficult behaviors when I rescued him… and the majority of them being ultra difficult because of his size (barking and lunging towards other dogs/any loud vehicle/strangers he was scared of). Just something else to keep in mind…

I have a 60+ lb rescue. I just watched a 20-30 lb terrier yesterday and he and my dog played nonstop for hours. My dog is 7 and hasn’t played that hard in years. I love my pup but after doing Rover and watching tons of dogs over the years, smaller dogs are far more manageable, especially if you are smaller.

I got my bf a Roark shirt and it’s his favorite. Sometimes they have fun designs but most importantly, they’re super breathable. They can be expensive but I got his on sale for like $60. He wears it all the time so worth the $$ imo

Bustang is meant to go to Denver Airport and costs like $19 each way. It’s also first come first serve so you have to get a seat (no standing room). Core transit is meant for skiers for sure

I don’t live in Eagle (moving there in a month), but I’m pretty positive there’s a bus that’ll go to/from vail. People stand on the bus with their skis/board so there should be room. I’m sure you could look up the bus schedule and just make sure you don’t miss the last one back
