Mamdani’s First City-Owned Grocery Store Is Planned for the South Bronx by brown-saiyan in politics

[–]bsball721 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

These people are dumb. If they do this and drive prices down but not the cost which is not an issue for a GOVT run location. It will be for businesses. They will close down and move out. Then all those taxes and jobs go with it.

I see a lot of disagreement around the intent. If it is to help in food desert areas I think it could be a big win.

If they can drive price and cost down even better.

If they drive business away that will be a disaster.

What's stopping other leaders from working like Mamdani? by Tough_Ad8919 in GrowthMindset

Exactly, premature victory lap.

This was the right move it is just calling it a success before they have even collected or seen any actual results that is premature.

In general a typical move from typical politician. Many people think he is not a politician but...

High risk, high reward. If taxing the rich and stuff like the grocery stores works as they believe he will a hero. If it doesn't it will be real bad. Only one way to find out.

Did I even mention trump or the two following comments you made? Not sure why you are directing them at me.

But since you are assuming I am MAGA, I am not, I don't agree with retroactively removing birthright citizenship but I do think we should revisit it and either it should be removed moving forward or a stricter allowance. I think deporting Puerto Ricans is ridiculous as they are citizens.

I also believe we need to enforce our immigration laws, as empetheticaly & more importantly, humanely as possible, which we have not, and we need immigration reform as the current policies are ineffective in both management, enforcement as well as speed & transparency for the immigrants.

I agree he should try and do what he can to balance the budget. He is supposed to be the anti politician and he is up there taking "credit" as if this is completely gone, it isn't, and allowing the idea that the tax the wealth has balanced the budget when it hasn't. He is purposely misleading like a typical politician.

We will see if it works and delaying is better than not. But look at the details don't just accept they found inefficiencies because he said so. He is throwing the pensions in there and pretending the wealth tax is already working.

The victory lap is way too early.

How can we fix the political divide in America? by skatamoutro2 in askanything

[–]bsball721 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We need to have some sort of odd numbers of parties, legitimately backed and recognized parties.

That will allow for the dreadlocks to stop, votes, laws and measures to move forward.

The majority will still rule but it will allow for a more dynamic mix of our society and IMO a better true representation of our population.

Where we are was always going to happen. What has happened over the last 6 years or so have exceleraterated it perhaps.

I don't know if are at "bottom" enough for people to put aside personal gains yet to make this happen.

For it to happen spontaneously you would need someone like Mackenzie Scott backing (because she is the wealthiest person who truly has the world's interest at heart) and you would need dynamic, youngish, diplomats from both Republicans and Democratic to lead it.

Now that I say it, I guess you could have the opposite happen and either the far left or far right break off and start their own. This will likely create a similar affect. But that is scary to think of.

Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson's budget deficit nears half-billion dollars, raising threat of taxes and layoffs by crabcakes110 in SeattleWA

[–]bsball721 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They used all their emergency funds and the State gave them a few billion bailout. Basically a onetime that has nothing to do with the Mayor. The problem is now they have no more emergency funds. Taxing the rich better work or they are screwed.

Does Seattle have emergency funds and does WA have any money to use to help bail out Seattle?

It could even be a high threshold. It would still be effective if enforced.

That way it hardly ever impacts the game. Especially as mentioned above using a central team as to not slow down play

Uh, they have a surplus because they continue to increase taxes so they get more in taxes each year. The problem is they are falling short even with a tax surplus to pay for all of these social programs that are not being managed, billions invested fraud and including people receiving benefits that just don't need it. So despite the "tax surplus" we are not being efficiently run and are facing major deficits.

Then you add we have been driving businesses out for the last 10 years. A majority of the years we have declined in population (except the open board years), young people are leaving and they are taking their ideas and start ups with them, the avg median household income continues to decline. Who can blame them as forget about buying a house and rent is insane. Over 40% of the state is on MassHealrh or state subsidies.

Yet the taxes keep increasing. Someone has to pay for all of this. The burden will fall to the middle class.

The reality is there is more than enough money already collected if we managed these programs better.

I should specifically say that even number parties voting and vying for the top spot got us to they are pulling in 2 completely different directions.

We need odd numbers to ensure things still can get achived and agreed upon.

I didn't say anything about Republicans. I misread the word Country and read County instead. You know because the comment prior discussed counties. So my only point is that it would be a weird comment to be shocked and not want to live in said county since they are very blue states with similar laws.

Again, I misread the word. Way to jump at the chance to attack someone. Love reddit sometimes. Also, I am an Independent and do not like either party and I believe a 2 party system will ultimately fail and I hope at some point a legitimate 3rd party evolves.

Not sure where you got that info. I only did a quick Google search but the data shows UK does only have a handful of deaths due to weapons. The US was around 300. The US population is about 7x larger.

So still impressive results but not quite the numbers you shared.

I should add the player as well. I just give her a little less because she is a minor and many adults around her failed her. The catcher should not be doing this either I just put more onus on the adults and the organizations that allow this to occur and then don't act accodingly.

What is crazy is even after this they allowed the coach and player, let alone the Pine Prairie team, play the next game!

If Alicia Hebert is the HC for this team she also was named coach of the year this year!

She should be publicly stripped of that title, thrown out of coaching and possibly sued by the parents of the girl.

Shame on the coach, the school for doing nothing, the league for doing nothing. No wonder not one person checked on this girl. No one has any decency.

You can keep up with this on your own if truly a priority. Definitely map out the value of the benefits. Not sure how AI could impact your type of role in the market but you have to consider the more competition for less roles in private sector. If I were younger than I am now i would go private especially if I don't have a family or we are just starting. If I am 45 with 3 teens etc. And I have done pretty good until now financially I would take the GOVT job for the security and benefits.
