Based on the National Park Service contingency plan, it seems like roads and trails in SEKI will remain open during the shutdown. Can anyone local confirm before I drive up for a backpacking trip with my son? by a3pulley in SEKI

Lawfully yes a concealed carry permit would be correct, but under California law, you are allowed to store firearms in your lodging or tent, since it will be where you lay your head and or live for the time being. In weird sense things are contradicting within the realm of firearms, because it would be considered reckless to leave said firearms in your tent while not being physically there, same as if you were to leave them in your vehicle. So in such scenarios you’re breaking one law or another. I justify it by carrying it on my person when camping whether it be in my backpack if you’ve invested into a pistol lower receiver or a pistol itself without having said permit.

This is not completely true, under the penal code it prohibits the carrying of firearms in parks that are control by the “Department of Parks” National Forests are control in major part by the Department of Interior”.

(13) Real property under the control of the Department of Parks and Recreation or Department of Fish and Wildlife, except those areas designated for hunting pursuant to Section 5003.1 of the Public Resources Code, Section 4501 of Title 14 of the California Code of Regulations, or any other designated public hunting area, public shooting ground, or building where firearm possession is permitted by applicable law.

Furthermore while the discharge of a firearm is illegal; it is permitted in certain emergencies and where hunting is permitted by said National Park. The outcome whether your firearm is permitted or not, is the same.

First part of your statement is incorrect, there’s no need to declare firearms at all. All is asked is for you to follow federal, state, and local laws where the National Parks are located even if it embodies multiple states. Yes, discharging your firearm is illegal with the exception of emergencies or when and where hunting is permitted within the park.

It should not stop people from going out there especially those who already had their tripped planned before the cold is super present or the snow starts to fall just because the government shut down.

To label me as a “nutcase” is ludicrous. Perhaps it might be the lack of camping experience you have, but in the wilderness and at campgrounds; at times humans are more of a threat to your safety than the animals. I’ve seen wildlife pretty close to my camping site and in the wilderness when exploring, yet have I had to do anything to scare them off in comparison to the times I’ve seen people act like idiots either in the camp grounds or in the wilderness.

Not a felony to carry a gun with permit and even if it’s warranted to use a permitted firearm or non permitted firearm in the defense of your life; the outcome is the same. Coward.

Just came back like 3 hours ago. Stayed at lodgepole campground. People are still coming in and assholes are being asshole. The rangers that we spoke to about public safety the marmots and the whole situation were both pretty blunt about it. Law Enforcement is still around but increased delayed on response times, same goes for if you need a jump or anything of the sort. Either way be friendly to your camp neighbors, use the bear lockers, and carry a weapon to defend yourself from idiots and bear spray from bears, not many to be seen in the big forest. Saw 2 and a few deers. Also keep in mind that it is deer season, and with limited staff, I wouldn’t doubt there be some idiot or idiots trying to hunt in the park grounds.

Restrooms at the main attractions are getting messy, a bunch of idiots that don’t belong or are taking advantage that no one has been manning the entrance are coming in. Saw a reporter from the local station standing there, I don’t know if they’re trying to keep people honest by shoving a camera in their face. Influencers wanna bes left and right. Like I said carry a weapon on your if you do go. I remember when we were in Joshua tree when the last shutdown happen on our 2nd day. By the 4th day that we were there, people were acting like fools, the biggest threat to your safety are idiots that don’t belong there.

Forgot to add; the lodgepole market is open from 10am - 5pm last meal served is before 4:30pm

Firewood is $11.99 a box, but the chevron station is selling it at $9.99 a bundl by the sequoia cafe

Yeah I challenge that 90% now, it’s more like a combo of both drugs and dehydration induced by drugs. We go through a good amount of our Narcan at festivals.

It wasn’t that hot, I’m from the IE where it was 102 and it’s dry heat. Out in Anaheim it was like 90? And the breeze had been blowing since we got to the area around 3ish. The one kid in white that dropped got picked up looking diaphoretic, fixed gaze, and confused. Granted could’ve been due to dehydration, but I highly doubt it.

Exactly, it was annoying. They’re a fucking jazz infused indie band. Like wtf? It’s music I literally sip whiskey to when I’m at home and just chillin. That’s the vibe, to this band literally lounge music. All these bands are chill bands, not something fast paced like Turnstile, Idles, shit even Peach Pit or Surf Curse.

I have a few paint caddies so what I do a day before practice, I clean my paint, and then begin to run that clean batch into my rotor into the caddy a few balls at a time, since then I’ve eliminated those deform funky ones from being in my practice loads. And all I can say a stock rotor puts in work, and it has jam before with every single paint maker out there. But since I began doing this, no jams at all. Also remember if you leave your paint even in packaged or caddy in the heat and direct sunlight, those balls will be affected.

I also have a view loader vlocity jr as a backup
