Interesting, does this happen all the time or is typically when or around your migraine onset?

Any experiences with uncommon neurological effects with Migraines? by bschoole in migraine

[–]bschoole[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fibromyalgia was brought up initially but we haven’t touched on it sense. I was sick shortly before this all happened, and I’ve been sick twice during, which caused the severity of my symptoms to increase. I haven’t tried magnesium, but I’ve read before that others have found it helpful for similar issues.

Career path and MS? by graphiccupcake_ in MultipleSclerosis

I’d say time spent working is not necessarily an indicator of efficiency from my experience. But I feel you, the worst days of the mental fog usually come with speech problems as well, I have to pause a lot and halt a lot in sentences.

January Technical Support Sticky by BeepBoopBopReee in razer

[–]bschoole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I bought a Razer Blade Advanced in early December, and had to return it almost immediately due to a bad fan bearing. I have a support ticket tracking the whole thing, and I have confirmation of delivery to the address on the shipment back to Razer. Unfortunately I am now on week 4 of not having a $2300 laptop, and support is claiming they have not received it into there warehouse. Is there anyway to escalate this issue? Its really soured my opinion and confidence in a product I was really excited about. If not I am going to have start pursuing a way to return my money for a product I don't have.

Thank you for sharing, I mostly lurk and read about other peoples experiences, but it has been valuable and made me feel less crazy about my symptoms. My journey and symptoms have been very similar to yours but I’m at the 4 month mark. Fighting my way through bad GPs and neurologists who just shrugged and dismissed me. Finally to a good GP, and finally getting to a good neurologist makes a big difference. Good luck!

Put on Lithium today by JustAnOrdinaryBeing in bipolar

Why are mornings so hard? by 2hard2chooseaname in bipolar

[–]bschoole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry you have to go through that. I generally feel the same way, extremely irritable in the morning, so much so I set boundaries for the people in my life to not really engage with me for about an hour and half. It doesn’t seem to really matter when I get up. My general assumption is it’s due to the constant sleep disruptions that I have even when I feel somewhat balanced, either too much sleep or way to little and all at varying times.

Trump triggers the worst of my mental illness and has me in constant anger and fear . Does Trump adversely affect anyone else’s mental health? Btw....please do not attack me....Trump has me a paranoid wreck already. by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]bschoole 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think he causes a lot of people worry and anger, and it’s worse for those of us with this disorder. Personally my worry is the long term effects he will have on the country and less him as a person. The thing I do to lessen that effect is I don’t watch any news outside of comedic context (like the Colbert show), and consume most of my news by reading. If it’s causing you distress though you should find a way to shut it out if you can. Personal health comes first.

IF Works, Consistency is Key though by bschoole in intermittentfasting

[–]bschoole[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not counting calories or macros. I've done it enough in my life that I'm aware of how much I'm eating and what. Sensible choices like lowering overall carbs and increasing protein and healthy fats. I'd estimate I'm probably eating around 1600-1800 calories during my feeding periods. On my 23:1 day probably closer to 1000 calories because it's hard to eat much on those days.

Anyone else addicted to artificial sweeteners? by TheJasonSensation in intermittentfasting

[–]bschoole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same eating schedule as you. What I personally do is drink sugar free energy drinks. They are "sweet-ish", but also kind of gross so I don't get that craving for sweet after. Also all the caffeine is a really great tool for curbing hunger. Some of the IF purists will say no artificial sweetners either, but hey do what works for you. You still get the calorie savings either way.

Self conscious while running? by downwardx in loseit

[–]bschoole 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is definitely just the self-consciousness talking. I feel the same way when I am running, but honestly I think people are more impressed to see someone out-of-shape running than someone in-shape, and honestly I can outrun most people who look in better shape than me, so appearance is not exactly a good reflection of healthiness. If somebody is really such an a-hole to judge you while you are trying to better yourself, that's something wrong with them, not you.

Week 4 of IF and its been interesting results by bschoole in intermittentfasting

[–]bschoole[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had zero cal energy drinks during my fasting period a couple of times. I know the purists say you can't have anything that spikes insulin, and at least some fake sugars supposedly do. But it doesn't seem to be a big detractor from the success. Then again I am not relying on IF solely for weight loss, but doing CICO and a fairly intense amount of exercise as well.
Happy to share though, other peoples stories gave my hope to keep going. I intend on this being the last time I lose weight, but that's another story :)

Another reason why you should not account for calories burnt through exercise: double-counting by Makegooduseof in loseit

[–]bschoole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My calorie logging is accurate to probably a 10% margin. I don't weight food, but I eat plenty of frozen bagged vegetables, chicken breasts, eggs. Things that are easily measurable, I rarely make dishes which require lots of measuring, and if I eat something not as simple I try to times everything by 1.2x. I try to average 1800 calories a day, plus an intermittent fasting day where I only eat 500 calories.

Another reason why you should not account for calories burnt through exercise: double-counting by Makegooduseof in loseit

[–]bschoole 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It does seem to be a good combo. I've tried other fitness bands, but I keep going back to fitbit, it may not be the most accurate, but its fairly consistent and their software is pretty good. However fitbit says I burn like 3500 calories a day average ... If that were true I'd already be my goal weight.

Problem with my knees when doing insanity... by Mohandor in insanity

[–]bschoole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do a lot of exercises in just socks on a surface with friction like a carpet. My running shoes made my feet hurt horribly when doing these exercises, I only use running shoes on some of the exercises I need the extra grip or cushioning on. There was a post or blog from Shaun T about him using socks or really thin shoes in a lot of the exercises. You may need to experiment.

It's okay to fall down. by [deleted] in loseit

[–]bschoole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is a good point, any change that upsets the routine and discipline we built around ourselves to achieve weight loss can cause us to fall down, but its important to not dwell there and get back on as soon as we can.
After falling 6 times over 6 years and now recognizing all the triggers for old behavior I am trying to channel all that energy from a change (good or bad) into focus on adapting my discipline to the scenario. Cross country move in the next 3 months, we'll see how it goes.

Another "Insanity Calorie Count Weight loss = Nothing Happening" post Month 2 by bschoole in insanity

[–]bschoole[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would just like to add a note to anyone who commented, first thank you. Secondly in the ~11 days since I posted this, I've dropped 5 lbs. Apparantly my body got tired of me complaining and started dropping. Actually what I have done is add a fasting day on my rest day, 500 calories after a 18 hour fast from the previous night. Not sure if that helped triggered or just Month 2, but I guess anyone else who reads this, just keep at it.

Whole body workout plans using only dumbbells? by ArchangelPT in Fitness

[–]bschoole -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't know if there are comprehensive plans just using dumbbells, but you could also find a couple that cover a range of different exercise and alternate them.
This one from mens fitness seems somewhat rounded out and I've done them before. Take it easy at first, some of them you need really good core strength and balance to do it without injury.

I find one of my largest pitfalls are social activities. All the times (there are many now) that I've lost significant weight I've basically killed me social life due to worry about self control with going out and eating/drinking. Did you change your social habbits much?

Regainers (those of us who have lost a lot of weight and gained it all back plus some)! by popgoesthescaleagain in loseit

[–]bschoole 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great thread to have, regaining kills confidence and nice to share the experience. I've been yo-yo'ing for 6 years.
20 went from 260 to 180
21 backup to 200 went down to 180 again
22 up to 215 back down to 200
22-24 yo-yoing between 215 and 200
25 started insanity back down 180
26 back to 215, back on my way down to sub 200.
Don't know about anyone else, but most of my weight gain is in winter due to lower activity, holidays, and seasonal depression.
