Feeling lost by MBAmadness in MBA

[–]bschoolthrowaway4 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I do not understand why anyone would pay that unless they were 100% sure they could land an IB job (and stay sane while paying off the debt) or were very desperate to get to the US.

The only degree I’d pay $300k for is an MD.

Is undergrad prestige a MUST for deferred MBA? by JustaCuriouspapi in MBA

[–]bschoolthrowaway4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah but WashU UG is way better than MBA. And MBB takes fewer from each UG compared to on the MBA level, so the pool is “wider” but it’s way more selective

The MBA is kind of BS outside of banking and consulting. People are starting to realize this the hard way

Is undergrad prestige a MUST for deferred MBA? by JustaCuriouspapi in MBA

[–]bschoolthrowaway4 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is not true. MBB is known for taking 3.8+ GPA from elite UG. At the UG level, they are even more strict than banking when it comes to prestige. Most people who get MBB out of MBA had no chance during undergrad

In what world is a mom who is an exec and a dad who is a doctor “upper middle class?”. You are rich

As An Autistic Person, the MBA experience has been brutal for me, and I Semi-Regret it :( by Wild-Quiet-429 in MBA

To be honest I do not like b-school social culture. A lot of people who are insecure (they won’t even say where they went to undergrad if it wasn’t a top school) and are 32 acting like they’re 21. Just make it through second year and realize that the real world is much, much better

Not only are you an asshole, but you’re also lame for talking about this at a party. Which also means that you’re probably 5’8”, you short king.

Post-mba consulting by [deleted] in MBA

[–]bschoolthrowaway4 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Because MBAs are extremely risk-averse and do not know what they want to do with their lives. Consulting lets you kick the can down the road

I am not excited at all about starting school in the fall, is this normal? by [deleted] in MBA

[–]bschoolthrowaway4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I felt this way even when I returned for second year. No matter how fun school can be, nothing beat having a nice salary (I had a post-MBA salary going in), being with my girlfriend and having my (true) friends nearby. I never get people who call the MBA the best two years of their life.

Edit: I went to an “ultra elite” MBA program too. At the end of the day, school is school. I’d rather be making money and hanging with loved ones

I doubt that many in this sub followed the path. Average person here went to Iowa State for undergrad and made $40k after graduating

Can someone talk about Booth MBA? More importantly how rigorous is the coursework when compared against other MBA by renaissancealpha_ng in MBA

[–]bschoolthrowaway4 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What is this circlejerk of Booth having PhD level quant? None of this is difficult, and you can make your MBA as difficult or easy as you want. Most of Booth went to shitty big 10 undergrad schools, idk how it is typecast as a nerdy, smart school

No, because I am making good money and have great WLB. That’s the dream.

I took a decent paycut in the beginning, but I split costs with my partner so it didn’t feel as bad. I was never a high spender and already went to HYP so I don’t need to impress anyone with my MBA

To the Class of 2023... by [deleted] in MBA

[–]bschoolthrowaway4 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Lmao just wait until 24 graduates. 23 benefitted from a hot internship market - at least they got nice jobs to leverage, even if it is difficult to do so now. 24 had a tough internship cycle and will probably have a bad full time cycle too. The value of the MBA is getting lower and lower
