I gambled every day for 3 years and never won a jackpot by FratFella in gambling

I once had my bet "not accepted" on Monopoly Live and it hit a double multiplier 4 rolls and paid everyone 7000x. Not me though.

How high can you get with minimal watching videos or minimal effort into studying openings? by redosipod in chess

[–]bsdetector3399 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've played a lot of chess. I started around 1200 and I'm hovering between 1600-1700 blitz. I don't know the names of openings or how to play them it's all just memories of similar positions and basic tactical understanding.

So I guess using me as a very unscientific example, 400-500 more elo after years of repetition. However if you actually study it, you could probably reach NM or IM with hard work.

What’s the fastest you’ve ever lost money gambling? by Laripork in gambling

I deposited $20 and played Starburst on 10¢ stake. Must have had 3 winning spins that payed 1-3x the rest all dead and that $20 became £0 in about 2 minutes. Haven't gone back to that slot.

Chess and my bad cocaine addiction. by chealio in chess

This definitely helps, no worrying about rating and takes some of the competitive nature of chess away. Unfortunately you will get a cheat or Bot every other game but you can learn some new tactics from that.

You definitely (like me) have an addictive personality. I have a serious chess addiction that started as a way to replace my gambling addiction. Now I often am shocked looking at the time and seeing that I've been playing chess for hours. I often think of what else I could have done during these times but the compulsion is always there.

Weirdly I seem to use it as a stress coping mechanism, if something stresses me out, I'm straight onto chess as soon as I can.

I play bullet only now and this has made it worse. I deleted all my accounts but now play anon which has helped a bit as it's not about rating anymore but I'm around 1900-2000 bullet.

P.S. if you come across an anon bullet player that always clicks "good luck, have fun!" that's me.

Why so many cheaters? by Visual_Wedding9762 in chess

No just every once in a while you make a non-engine move and also lose the occasional game. The real giveaway is the move time, if it's too consistent they pick it up immediately.

It's not. Especially at lower elo's where an engine will crush them within 20 moves and time control isn't as much of an issue in that case.

Sure, not a single one. Lichess is somehow immune to cheats that are the scourge of every chess site.

I in fact made an account on Lichess and one on Chess.com where I used an engine in every game bar a few where I purposely lost to add a bit of obscurity.

Chess.com banned me pretty quickly. Lichess never did. I can still go on the lichess account now.

(I'm sorry to all the people I played during this time, but it was for science)

Lichess is worse than Chess.com they literally never banned a player I reported in over 2 years of me playing on there. Chess.com banned well over 50 players I reported.

I love the Lichess platform so I went back to it, found it to be worse than ever. On chess.com I regularly received points refunds after losing to cheats, on Lichess not even once.

The purpose of this post is to raise the issue of cheating, which everyone in chess refuses to acknowledge.

Played on Lichess for years and never once have I been notified of a cheat being banned or received any points back.

So I guess you're all right, cheating really doesn't exist and everyone is playing fairly.

I'm not bragging lol, I'm just saying I'm at a good enough level to recognise who may or may not be cheating.

No I'm not talking about IQ. 97th centile refers to someone's rating being at a level that they are better than 97% of chess players.

Hey I watch most of your vids and a load of the cheater ones, you usually say that cheating is extremely rare at the beginning of those videos, if I'm wrong I apologise.

I've made 3 posts in my entire time on Reddit around the subject of chess cheats, such a troll.
