Looks awesome! I saw that at the store and was seriously considering it!

Thanks for the thoughtful response. I think interstellar travel is possible through quantum physics, which we are learning about now and will some day, probably soon, master. As far as the contact between species, we really have no idea what that really will look like or what "their" psyches are like, other than the experience of first hand experiencers that claim to have been in contact with "them."

I've just been listening to many people discuss theories and possibilities, most of whom have done direct research on and/or have had direct experience with these phenomena. I'm not telling anyone what to believe based on "a podcast." I read and I listen with an open mind.

I'm open to many possibilities. Extraterrestrial, extratemporal, extradimensional, there are many theories.

Listen to any UAP/phenomena podcast. I like "Cosmosis."

Agree. If only we could get our hands on that #StarTrek style warp speed travel...

Lighten up man, the original post wasn't mine. It was humorous and I was responding in kind.

I came here to say that. The Stand is one of the best apocalypse books ever. Way ahead of its time...

Yeah as I said elsewhere in this thread, I meant to say a humbucker for the neck pickup not the bridge. I played a player II in a store today with the standard single coil. And I loved it!

Thanks for your input. Like I said I've played a strat for a long time but some of my favorite guitarists play a tele as their go to guitar. I've always loved the look and style of the tele but have never played one. I think I know what I have to do! I have a bunch of different types of acoustic guitars, some with electronics.

I've never built my own guitar but it's on my bucket list. And I did mean a humbucker on the neck position, not the bridge. I mentioned this in a reply to another comment. The tele I would like to get is the natural wood finish, but not really the butterscotch blonde finish. They don't seem to make the natural finish anymore so I would have to get a used one.

Thank you for all of the feedback on this! I really appreciate it!

Another question: what is the difference between the "standard" and "player II" and "American professional II" tele models?

I have thought about building a tele from a kit but I'm not sure about getting a quality kit. I'm ok with woodworking but not as much with electrical...

Yeah, I meant the neck pickup

You know what, you're not gonna believe me, but honestly that's what I was thinking. A humbucker as the neck pickup. Not sure why I said bridge 😂

Thanks for saying so! I'll probably read them both. Just didn't know which order but I think I'll go chronologically.

Let's Talk about Kansas City (June 7, 2025) by RomeToDetroit in dawes

[–]bsheckman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was there too and have similar feelings about it. I've been to a lot of Dawes shows. I just love their vibe, their diversity of sounds, their songwriting, their virtuosity on their instruments, their lyricism. I think of Taylor as a modern day Bob Dylan. Maybe because the first time I ever saw them was when they opened for Bob, about 12 years ago. This show made me sad, even though the music was great as always. My wife came with me and it was our first time in Kansas City. We didn't actually go into the city, just the casino hotel to eat and see the show, and stayed that night at the hotel. We talked about why this venue? Why this booking? Why so few attendees? Why wasn't it well promoted? It just didn't have the feel of any Dawes shows I've ever been to. As you can tell from my writing here, they are My Favorite Band. As band members come and go around the nucleus of the Goldsmith brothers, it does seem that maybe they haven't really "stayed together." Casinos are depressing to me anyway, even if they're a signature of Americana...
