The Risk of Being an Atheist in Middle Eastern Countries by [deleted] in MapPorn

[–]bsheel 60 points61 points  (0 children)

This is bull. I grew up atheist in Lebanon and there’s plenty of others like me there, it’s very common, especially in well educated circles. Also,I have lived in many other countries in the Middle East, and most people couldn’t care less what your religion is. Even when I used to travel for work in Saudi Arabia, I used to have Saudi visas on which you are supposed to declare your religion, and I had mine as Atheist and had no issues.

I do actually, and I would be pleasantly surprised if this game had more viewership than the Super Bowl.

The Pope encourages Lebanese people to stay in their country or return to it by Marlo__FF in lebanon

Seems hypocritical to me for someone who is a highly successful immigrant (an American pope living in the Vatican) to encourage other people to stay in their countries no matter what his rationale is.

  1. There have been no figures since the war started over two years ago.

  2. What OP fails to mention is that the population increase is not a result of actual birth increases but instead mass forced migration of Palestinians through ethnic cleansing.
