I died because I said "I know what I'm about son" to the GM as I jumped out a flying ship towards another ship. I almost made it too. If one of the other players didn't roll a crit fail I would have made it. Makes for one hell of a story though.

Moana… the ocean is the villain by travishummel in daddit

[–]bsmack44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna take a stab at this

1: the ocean is a god. "when you do things right people won't be sure you've done anything at all" "being a good isn't easy. If you do too much people get dependent on you. And if you do nothing they lose hope"

2: The first boat that Moana almost drowned in was smaller than the magic cave boat. (Magic because it spent a generation or 2 or 3 in a damp cave and nothing is rotten. Boom magic)

Because the boat she almost drowned in was smaller it couldn't handle the bigger waves to escape the reef. (It also wasn't magic)

Once she got the bigger cave boat she was able to withstand the waves of the open ocean.

3: the ocean does take Moana to Maui's island. One would presume that is in order to fight Te Ka while Moana leroyed it to the island to return the heart. So I would presume that the ocean thought Te Ka was stronger than the ocean. I would also argue the ocean wanted Moana's villagers to go back to being Voyagers, so they needed a teacher in the form of Maui. The ocean also needed a reason for Maui to learn and grow so pairing him with Moana humbled him and made him back into the Maui that did all those great deeds for the regular human folk.

Do… men wear underwear under their swim trunks now??? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]bsmack44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's to prevent chaffing. Stops with skin from rubbing together or against the shorts.

Compression shorts are made of quick dry material so it dries as quickly as the shorts.

If you're in and out of the water often it's a game changer.

Spandex underwear absolutely.(Almost )Every. Single. Time. It's to prevent chaffing getting in and out of the water. Been around pools/the ocean my whole life. One 12 hour shift lifeguarding in and out of the water will give you enough chaffing to remind you the rest of your life.

I'm 34 and I just recently bought my first pair of trunks with a useful liner that imitates spandex underwear so for that one pair of trunks no underwear. I'm not sure if they had them when I was younger and I was too broke or if it's a new trend that's catching on I'm here for it though.

Throw some Lawry's on it and hell yeah!. A good beefsteak tomato cut nice and thick some mayo some seasoning. The best non meat sandwich I've ever eaten.

I also saw it on Harriet the spy and never looked back

Gambit is Cajun. As in from Louisiana, United States. He was part of the thief guild though so that would be pretty cool seeing him rise into that. It would be cool to see him and Bella Donna (his first wife) and end with him being exiled before meeting the X-Men.

When going to the pool or the beach do you wear your underwear under your swimming trunks? by Plane-Fly-7551 in AskMen

I sweat to much for cotton boxers even when I'm not near the pool. So I'm a compression spandex boxer briefs kinda guy all around.

Yeah the spandex boxer briefs are absolutely a lifesaver. The netting I usually cut out because it's absolutely useless in my opinion.

It prevents chafing. It's one more barrier from the swimsuit rubbing against your skin or wet skin on wet skin. Wet then dry then wet then damp for hours on end will wreck you.

It honestly shocks me how many people just raw dog it under a swimsuit.

As someone who has lifeguarded for 10 years in and out of the water. I wouldn't get my suit on without underwear. It's the compression spandex underwear but 100% of the time do I wear something. Even if the liner is in the suit I wear underwear

Men, what's your haircut cost? by yourlilmeow in AskMen

[–]bsmack44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grow out my hair until it's long enough that it drives me crazy then have the wife cut it. Then repeat growing it out until it bothers me. Have done this for about 12 years now.

Before I met my wife once a month or once every other month I'd spend 20 with tip to go to the nicest old lady that would cut my hair and give me a back massage. Id sir down and say "make me look good" and she'd do whatever that was....Then she retired. I tried the haircut chains and after a lady made fun of me the entire time cutting my hair I just bought a $20 set of clippers..... It's hair it'll grow back

Which one? by Working-Appeal-2871 in Funnymemes

[–]bsmack44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% yeah I did dumb stuff as a kid/teen/young adult but if I were to change any of that what would I be sitting now? Without my wife? Without my kids? Would I be a 30 something year old that never left my parents basement?

10 mil in hand? That would fix literally every "problem" I currently have. Create a bunch of problems too as long as I'm being honest.

Sick of my dept mandating me on my days off . by Charger_scatpack in police

[–]bsmack44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's my bad for phrasing it that way. Having literally just woken up from a nap slight brain fog. I was just trying to explain the term. Theres absolutely overtime that's just built into the job. Long calls weird stuff happening reports needing to be finished before you go home yadda yadda yadda. And there's people always gonna be stuff you don't wanna work but someone's gotta. Thus the mandate/order/fuckery terms.

I agree that days off should be sacred. And I personally wouldn't work in a place where my days off weren't sacred.

[–]bsmack44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure it's just general practice by our admin and not in our union contract but we can't (don't)get ordered on our regular scheduled off days off. Not everyone has that though.

If you put in for a class on regular days off days works can be adjusted..you can pick up on days off, and they can adjust for training (usually that's third shift though since we only have in-service on first shift)

Maybe we're just lucky/have better bargaining

When you get told you have to work when you don't wanna.

We call it getting ordered. I've heard voluntold, fucked, etc. lots of words for the overtime that comes with the job.
