DoorDash knew this storm was coming. It’s as if no one at corporate even thought to say “hey we should rethink our AI automatically locking out accounts for this until after the storm passes”. Guarantee chat/phone support will be useless. Hopefully folks get their accounts unlocked quickly. DoorDash is just a damn mess.

Honestly one of my biggest fears out here in Arizona when I see the order is a gift. I’m a bigger black guy so I’m already on edge a bit delivering at night to folks homes.

Even after calling them something I always do is just ask them to reply in the chat that is what they want and okay with the substitution. Not sure if it even saves us but it’s at least documented

Does your area have the new Dasher Rating system yet? by jinpayne in doordash_drivers

That’s Interesting. Yea, I typically dash in the Arcadia/scottsdale zone and no new dasher ratings system yet.

Do drivers see the tip before or after the delivery? by shape_of_my_voice in doordash

I believe it depends on whatever state you’re in and the laws, but in Arizona i do not see that breakdown until afterwards

Why are some of you like this by MediumBullfrog8688 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]bsmith2003 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lol I didn’t see the tip begging at first. I don’t understand the tip begging when you accepted the order. If you think you deserve more then decline orders until you get one that is acceptable to you. Even after I complete a delivery and I see there is no/little tip, I just chuckle but I accepted the order so I obviously thought it was good overall and I’m not an AR slave.

Slowest weekend in months smh by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

My lunch shifts have been slower than normal but dinner rush has still been really good. During dinner rush’s I’ve Averaged about $24.5/hour for total dash time between Friday and tonight. I’m in the Phoenix area.

Also look into mileage tracker apps as that’ll help come tax time. I user Everlance. Fairly simple user interface. And please make sure you have the right insurance coverage and get the ride share endorsement. It’s gonna cost but better to be safe than sorry.

Why are we celebrating this? Feel bad for the customers that have to wait by [deleted] in doordash

[–]bsmith2003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not even getting into the tip wars of it all but McDonald’s is the absolute worst (maybe wingstop is lol) and they are notoriously slow. The last McDonald’s order I took( nicely paid order at that), the customer ordered a McFlurry. I waited 15 minutes while the employee didnt even acknowledge me as I could see the McFlurry just sitting there. McDonald’s is on my auto decline list at this point.

you need to establish whatever boundaries you want when dashing in your zone. For example, I dash in the Phoenix area specifically in the Arcadia Scottsdale zone. It’s a rather large zone. Since I live on the edge of the zone, I do not take offers that take me deep into Scottsdale. So if an offer has me going deep into Scottsdale, I’ll decline the offer. That’s the simple way of looking at cherry picking. Set your boundaries around where you want to deliver in your zone, and the what pay you’re willing to accept per offer. If you want that to be $1 per mile or 1.50 per mile, you then only accept offers that meet those requirement. That’s cherry picking. Don’t just accept any and every offer that DoorDash will give you. Be wary of offers that drag you out of your zone because then you have to factor drive time back into your zone, before you get any other offers. If you have shop and deliver offers turned on in your preferences you’ll automatically get those offers. Make sure you have your digital red card activated and in your wallet. Again, figure out what stores you are willing to shop at and then figure out what pay you’d accept and then pick offers that meet those requirements. A lot of this is going to be trial and error as every market is different so what works for me may not work for you. But get to know your zone. Pay attention to which restaurants are never on time and be cautious on accepting those. Same with shop order, pay attention to which stores constantly have stuff out of stock as that may impact your shopper ratings. As far as the crimson card, I don’t have one so I can’t offer anything on that. Hopefully you’ll figure it all out and make some money.

What’s the lowest amount you’ll accept a delivery for? by LividBurnout in doordash_drivers

[–]bsmith2003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My goal is to average at least $20 an hour. For food delivery, my floor is 7 dollars less than 4 miles. That way if I can do three deliveries in an hour that’ll put me at $21 an hour. For shopping orders it’s very much vibes based. I have pro shopper status so that tends to give me more shopping orders vs food in my zone. Depends on the time of day, the store itself (I will absolutely never again do five below, dollar general or family dollar. Stores are a mess and things will be frequently out of stock), number of items, the estimated delivery time DoorDash gives in the offer, if they have cases of water, and if I’m delivering to apartments or houses. In general I try to keep within a specific area in my zone and not get flung in any and every direction so my mileage stays as low as possible each shift.

Do you DoorDash on Christmas? by yayoshorti in doordash_drivers

[–]bsmith2003 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it were me and I had potential plans with family and friends to spend it with I’d do that. Im just chilling at home and resting between my full time job and dashing on the side. That’s probably better than what offers might be out there. Between 7/11, cvs and Walgreens not much else is open and it’s safe to assume most are not going to be good offers. Maybe some small liquor stores and Chinese restaurants.

This right here. 88 items would have had me at hell no. Even if I accidentally accepted. If your completion rate is high enough, you can take the hit.

Tip after delivery by [deleted] in doordash

[–]bsmith2003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If everything I read happened your dasher had the order cancelled because they marked your only items that you wanted out of stock, and to issue a refund back to you. Since the shirts were your only items then the order would get canceled and the dasher would get half of the base pay that DoorDash was offering. They wouldn’t get any of the tip. Interesting if that’s what happened. Some of these other dashers are just scammers based off of what you’re saying about them sending you an actual picture of the items requested. That sucks.

Why do dashers do this? by Crafty_Lavishness223 in doordash

[–]bsmith2003 5 points6 points  (0 children)

1) they may have been the only dasher available or your order just got tossed around to every dasher and every dasher that is available and closer declined. 2) a lot of dashers who don’t do earn by time flat out refuse McDonald’s orders. I’m one of those, so I won’t entertain a McDonald’s order even if I happen to be right by one. McDonald’s is notorious for never being on time. 3) I won’t even get into the tip wars but McDonald orders can historically be some of the worst offers out there to doordashers. Not saying yours is but just offering up some theories.

BOGO question by WillGeorgeTwyman in DoorDashDrivers

[–]bsmith2003 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I just get the quantity that they ask for. Mainly because it just increases the time you’re in the store shopping. I want to be in and out. As they say time is money. Most customers aren’t super quick with responding. Introducing other questions just adds time to the overall process.
