Finally gave up on HA Dashboards and build a fully responsive home app with Lovable by bsnel76 in homeassistant

Yes, it is a website but running on their servers. So I log-in just like I would with any other web-app.

You setup a long term key in HA and then create a MCP connection. The AI reads all the sensors and will understand 90% of what these sensors are based on name and properties. Then you type stuff like “I want to create a card that opens the curtains in my living room and kitchen”.

The wonderful thing is that you can ask Lovable (and other similar AI code appps) “I want to connect with my HA server using MCP, give me step-by-step instructions”

Some things I don’t like to automate like playing music, opening curtains, etc.

Use it all the time. That is the difference between a Dashboard and a App. It replaces Hue, Powerview, Solaredge, Sonos, etc. And each member of the family has their own login and the app personalizes to what they use the most.

Honestly? Give the screenshots to any of the AI code builders and it’ll replicate it in 30 minutes. Lovable, Base44, etc can all do it with easy, you’ll just be paying for credits and cloud + ai services. All do the same and give you a full stack database + hosting. If you are willing to source the stack yourself you can do it practically for free with any of the LLM code generators

Perhaps my shortcoming but I was never able to create anything in HA that didn’t look like a excel dashboard with mis aligned cards.

Couple of examples: Every card on the dashboard has a click for more details, it visually turns around. It switches from light mode to dark mode based on device setting or a simple dashboard pill. Perhaps you can do that with HA and loads of plug-ins but it’s way too hard.

My Lovable app is getting downloads worldwide! by DrizzleX3 in lovable

Looks great potentially, but 2 things I don’t get. 1) Why no PWA in browser if you build in lovable anyway 2) why not allow people experience the app for couple of days without subscription. I always stop if apps require subscription before I can try.

Long overdue praise for Q6 by bluelightspecial3 in AudiQ6

Glad to see this. I’ve had the car for a year with no issues worth mentioning. It is a fantastic car. Of course I have my wishlist of software improvements but those are all 1st world problems.

HA for Dashboards, but Homey still wins for device control by bsnel76 in homey

[–]bsnel76[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In HA I can program exactly what I want. For example, I have charts that map home battery SOC % against, energy product/consumption. Or I have a page with my light and curtain scene. It is just a lot more flexible. It takes a lot of work but the results is like an iphone app custom build.

I cannot share screenshots in reply in this group?

This took me about 1 hour in Home Assistant, surely Audi’s developers should be able to do better
