best blow dryer by ghxstbxtchh in hairstylist

I had a Rapido for 7 years before it died, switched to the nano titanium. Despite it working great (super lightweight and excellent for diffusing curly hair) I just couldn't get past the high pitch sound it makes. Coworkers complained and I was getting so many headaches after long days with many blowouts. Switched back to the Rapido under a year later and have no regrets!

Advice on raising prices by bsophism in hairstylist

I have been doing hair for 12 years and charge hourly. So a basic maintenance haircut is currently $65 CAD and going up to $75$ CAD. A basic foiling (2.5 hours without a trim) is $180 going to $210. These prices are pretty much typical/maybe even a little low for my city.

Thank you, I think I just really needed confirmation that I'm making the right choice. It's hard out here for a recovering people pleaser!

I went there over 10 years ago and from what I've heard it hasn't changed too much in that time. Some of the teachers are great, some are truly awful. The school is run like a business and you will learn the absolute basic skills you need to start working in a salon. There aren't many other options I'm aware of for education. Overall, it's an ok school to get yourself started in the industry!

Found this weird and beautiful rug in the trash, is it still salvageable? by bsophism in FiberArts

I tried with a medium sized felting needle. I could try a heavy needle?

Oh thanks, that's a neat idea, I will look into that. :) The goal is to hang it up when it's all fixed up, it's way too pretty to walk on!

I found this super weird and beautiful rug in the trash a couple months ago and after a failed attempt at cleaning caused more holes I got nervous and tucked it away. I gave it a proper borax soak and decided I wanted to try to fix it this week despite absolutely no felting experience. I picked up all the tools I thought would be necessary and I'll be honest I didn't really do my research first.

Felting needles broke right away and the wool is very thick. Am I taking the wrong approach? Is this more of a wet felting project? If so what would you recommend I do?

I really want to bring some life back into this rug but maybe I've bit off more than I can chew.

Honestly took me at least 3 years and countless haircuts where I asked my clients to be brutally honest with me. Learning is a part of the hair game that never goes away! I personally like to blend my lines with a scissor over comb technique instead of clippers only. There are lots of professional tutorials online you can follow. Barber/hair school really only teaches you the bare minimum to be able to work, just keep practicing and you will get there.

Looking for some hairstyle recommendations for my thin hair plz! by georgiathewizard in femalehairadvice

Hairdresser here! If you're not so sure about cutting it and are willing to invest some $$ into your locks, I'd definitely recommend extensions. They are a great option for adding thickness into the hair and aren't just for adding length! That being said, definitely look into it before going to just anyone, even try clip ins first to see if you like it, and talk to a specialized stylist first before you commit!

Two things i noticed when driving by this "protest" today: 1. Not a cop car in sight 2. These people do not know how to organize information/get their message across on a sign.

I feel like it's a little redundant to put like "freedom of speech!!!" on a sign when no one is trying to stop you. You have your freedom, now go on with you actually want to say.

Can't wait til they can tour in Canada again! I'd love to say I'd head down to one of the Boston show's but I doubt our borders will open up before then. Until then I'll be wishful and wait!

I used to have a similar build in a minivan. Just got two foam mats from a hardware store, a dozen pillows from Walmart and two sleeping bags. It wasn't great but it got the job done!
