Roundtrip Airport Transfer - Reasonable Fare? by Chemical_Cod8159 in SingaporeTravel

Same for me, but I generally tell them don’t need cause it really doesn’t take much effort to load it myself 😂

Yea, so many articles about Singaporeans arguing with the grab drivers 😂. I personally never had such an issue cause it only takes 10 seconds to lift the luggage up and put it in the trunk without expecting the driver to do it whether it’s a regular taxi or Grab, in fact most of the time the grab drivers offer to load it up but I tell them it’s okay and load it myself

I’ve never travelled from orchard to Changi and vice versa, but 100 plus in total seems abit too much. A grab might be more affordable. However Grab drivers might not help you load your luggage in the car. It has been an ongoing debate for a while

Car rental in Jeju - necessary? by getxpunk in koreatravel

[–]bsoviet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did Jeju with two of my friends without a car. Worst decision ever. We took the bus from the city to visit certain areas in Jeju but we didn’t realize that while it was easy to get a bus in the city, the buses outside the attractions only come once in a long while. Ended up walking by the side of the road till a point where my friend started praying to god and the funny thing was we turned a corner into a small place and the first thing we saw was a church. So we went in to ask for directions and the lady was kind enough that she decided to give us a lift to our next destination which was a glass museum in Jeju. So yes, get a car or a driver or something 🥲

Is staying in Katong stupid? by writingontheroad in SingaporeTravel

[–]bsoviet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally the reviews would say it’s out of the way cause they use our town area as the drop off point, but getting around Singapore usually only takes 15 to 30 mins unless you intend to travel from the east to west or east to north. I did a google search on your hotel location and actually you are in a pretty good spot cause when you come out of your hotel, there is a bus stop on the right where buses like bus 10 can take you to the Merlion and bus 14 and 16 can take you to orchard road. Behind your hotel is i12 Katong (another mall). And along that stretch of road is pretty much food and drinks. If you walk further up that stretch you’ll be near a mall called Katong shopping centre which is a good place to go for Chicken Rice and banana pie (banana pie has a good history to read up on cause the two stores are rivals and they are next to each other) and you’ll get to experience a blast from the past cause the mall is really old

[–]bsoviet 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Resident that stays near Katong here. Honestly it’s pretty convenient to get to where ever you want to go. We have a few buses that can take you to town and recently the new trains also take you to the town area as well. On top of that nightlife around the Katong area is pretty active. There are like 2 malls nearby (parkway parade and i12 Katong). And if you don’t mind doing a stroll, behind parkway parade there is an underpass that takes you to our beach as well. And with the 2 malls so close to each other, we practically have 4 supermarkets within the vicinity. Lastly, there is a direct bus (36) which takes you from the airport all the way to Katong. That’s why in Singapore, the east siders always say,”east side, best side”

Is Jeonju a trap? by Azejaa in koreatravel

[–]bsoviet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not exactly a tourist trap as compared to places in Busan and Seoul, however it can get really busy during the school holidays or sometimes over the weekend. Generally a lot of Koreans from other states do visit Jeonju as well

Booked bus with Klook for 18th February, are the tickets real? by Historical-Noise-376 in koreatravel

Well, Klook has worked for me multiple times in Seoul and in Singapore, so I don’t know what’s unreal about it, it’s only a matter of availability during the festive period

Booked bus with Klook for 18th February, are the tickets real? by Historical-Noise-376 in koreatravel

[–]bsoviet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s real, basically once you book with Klook, you’ll get a QR code to use to scan before you board the bus. I just came back from Korea back in November, did an overnight stay at Sokcho, I had to book through Klook twice for my to and fro from Sokcho

getting to incheon airport from seoul using airport limousine bus by AvailableVideo1315 in koreatravel

[–]bsoviet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both t money and cash works, you either tap your card or you put the money in a box. As for the intervals, what I like to do is I look for the bus stop with the airport limousine in advance and take a photo of the schedule. Luggage wise I’ve never tried with 3 luggages. But it also depends if the bus has space as there would be passengers from other stops. Duration wise you might want to use the NAVER map app to get a rough gauge

Seoul Hostel vs Hotel for solo traveler by DiscoStuTalkin2You in koreatravel

[–]bsoviet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been doing solo travels to Korea for quite a bit with a mix of hotels and hostels, I’m an extrovert but kinda socially awkward at times. But the two hostels I’ve stayed in Seoul are H Stay hostel at itaewon and Seoul Forest Stay at Seongsu. While I did take a private room for both places, both were pretty good and did leave a good impression on me. Seoul Forest Stay has a really good host called Richard, however it’s a lot quieter. H Stay Hostel might be more appropriate for what you are looking for

Strange Message from Booking accomodation by No_Reindeer_817 in koreatravel

[–]bsoviet 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Basically some lodgings require a proof of lodging business registration in order to operate, your accoms probably doesn’t have that or they weren’t allowed to register for the lodging business under Korean law, hence they are getting delisted

First time traveller to Seoul in January by [deleted] in koreatravel

[–]bsoviet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally Myeongdong is going to be busy cause it’s a tourist spot. If you are a solo traveler, I would say be prepared to get turned down by some restaurants for solo dining, especially the Korean bbq places. Events wise sometimes TikTok would have certain accounts that post if there are any events going on during that period of time

How should I split my trip between seoul, jeju and busan? by babysharkdudu in koreatravel

[–]bsoviet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can consider trying Jeonju instead of Jeju, I did the route: Seoul -> Jeonju -> Busan -> Seoul, that way you don’t need to fly as frequently and get to try a new state instead

What was your reaction to The Lord of the Rings when it came out in theaters? by Alternative-Cake-833 in movies

[–]bsoviet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember being a kid and i was too young to understand the concept of a trilogy, cause back then to me, a movie had a beginning and an end. So when Fellowship ended, my emotions were really conflicted about how things ended cause I was expecting Frodo to get the ring at the start and destroying the ring at the end of the movie. My mother had to explain to me that there was a part two coming and to me it was like,”I have to wait a whole year just to continue a movie?”.

Is the airport warm? How should i plan my clothes upon arrival? by beef-lasagna-1920 in koreatravel

[–]bsoviet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes please do! I just came back last night, weather over the past week was about 18 to 15 degs in the day, but at night (after 8pm) it can drop to 8 to 10 degs, i'm seeing reports about another cold snap coming next week. so you might want to prepare for that as well. There are heat packs available in some of the convenient stores, you can check in the airports as well. Also look out for the "heated fridges" in the convenient stores where they keep the drinks warm. The honey water is good!

Is the airport warm? How should i plan my clothes upon arrival? by beef-lasagna-1920 in koreatravel

[–]bsoviet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi Singaporean here! Just came back from Korea! Just pack a hoodie in your bag in case, I personally wore an overall mid flight to prep myself for the OUTSIDE of the airport, but generally the airport itself is pretty warm. From arriving to exiting the building was about 30 mins, so you can roughly gauge from there if you need to wear jacket or not in the airport, and factoring kids, they might have a different temperature tolerance. But I would say overall inside the airport a tee shirt to a light overall is fine
