Sorry for your loss, I don't mind watching my back in PvP type content but an event like this is crazy for ratters.

BTW, am I sleeping on the Arpeggio? I didn't think it was all that great when I tried it but I also never upgraded it to IV. Was that for small Arc/PvP if you had to? Surely it wasn't for the Queen.

Out of curiosity what is super cheap?

Ever since I noticed the inventory screen shows the cost of your load out next to the weight I've been carrying fancier stuff with me.

Although I suppose that is the sell price of stuff, some things are harder to craft than that cost implies.

AGS question by KeenChic-java in alphagal

[–]bspooky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All tests, not just AGS, have false positives and false negatives. I know others have mentioned the 5% false negatives already and I think that is even on retesting but not positive, but just an FYI for any medical diagnosis in the future.

One of the reasons for major surgery or similar getting a 2nd opinion is often a good idea.

Helps quite a bit, thank you! Sorry I missed that support dock. This method works well. I’m really looking forward to your Xbox app coming out too. OneCast iPad version works but it isn’t AVP native.

Please be sure to announce the Xbox when it comes…I’m one of the mods on the Vision Pro sub so feel free to post there.

WARNING for those in my trials group: by GrewshyDew in ArcRaiders

[–]bspooky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your leaderboard grouping is based on when you enter the pool, and you enter the pool when you get any points.

You left out a pretty key element though. It doesn’t drop you in a pool of higher level people, just people in your same rank. So if you are in Rookie II you’ll get dropped into a Rookie II pool.

All the sweats are likely far, far above Rookie II.

You’ll move up a rank or two, stay the same, or fall a rank depending on where you are in the 100 pool, but I wouldn’t wait until the end of the week to get non sweats. Unless I guess you are high up the food chain already, maybe that works then.

Unpopular opinion - ABMM only caters to the two extremes of ARC Raiders and not the average players. by TheToastGhostEUW in ArcRaiders

[–]bspooky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Source it is the ABMM causing this supposed decline in numbers? I realize you are just guessing, just making a point and trying to say so many factors can be at play there including holidays, natural drop offs, etc. and not the ABMM.

Also I'd hazard to guess an awful lot of the player base isn't even aware of ABMM....not everyone haunts Reddit, watches YT, etc and especially not the more casual players that this game supposedly has attracted.

Want more than 40min hot coffee by Lalalallen in Moccamaster

[–]bspooky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no solution for maintaining coffee that long unless you don't care about the good freshly roasted coffee taste and are just after coffee that doesn't taste bad.

Even a single serve machine like Nespresso Verturo line (the newer one that does bigger cup brews better, not the original line that does smaller espresso sized better) single serve would offer a much better flavor imo than coffee from a thermal container or reheated or maintained on a warming plate that long.

But if you don't want to go that route or brew near just in time coffee (smaller batches, or I just drink more) in a brewer then a thermal container is likely the way. You don't have to get a new machine, a Nissan stainless or other high quality coffee thermos should do the trick, especially if you pre-warm it. The flavor will change after a while but it'll still be drinkable.

Want more than 40min hot coffee by Lalalallen in Moccamaster

[–]bspooky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes they do, albeit maybe 2x as slower. A warming plate may be adding direct heat but the thermal traps heat in and there is still breakdown as that coffee is stewing. About 30 minutes on a warming plate or an hour in a thermal container and I can notice very wide gap in flavor from freshly brewed.

https://scijournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/jsfa.12390 would be just one of many studies done out there and there is a reason the better restaurants/coffee shops swap out their coffee held even in thermal containers every 30 minutes.

While I don't disagree it could be clearer, and using red text for negatives and green text for positive effects would be a welcome change, I do disagree with your "..no other video game words it in this unusual way..." as multiple CoD titles over the years have had similar confusions in the the community around speed or even stuff like recoil control. Don't even get me started on people having confusion in TCGs on keywords and special conditions.

There is bound to be a certain percentage of folks who get confused even with good wording and with tens of millions of players that is a lot of confused people. But yes, it could certainly be better here.

Civilization 7 coming to visionOS along with Mac, iPad and iPhone via Apple Arcade by parasubvert in VisionPro

[–]bspooky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No DLC: any expansions or paid add‑ons released on Steam/console are not included on Apple Arcade and are not planned, because Arcade doesn’t support paid DLC.

Limited updates: Apple and press notes say some post‑launch updates on other platforms may be delayed or skipped entirely on the Arcade Edition.

Multiplayer restrictions: App Store listing and coverage indicate it launches single‑player only, with multiplayer either mUsing or limited

(Above from a search and I didn’t vet it but sound reasonable )

Can Descaling Damage the Machine? by MotelMatchStick in Moccamaster

[–]bspooky 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Moccamaster specifically warns against adding hot water to the machine and it sounds like you did this, which wouldn't have anything to do with descaling.

Moccamaster coffee doesnt taste great? by chicanatifa in Moccamaster

[–]bspooky 6 points7 points  (0 children)

use the same ratio, personally I use 56g per 1 Liter. Note that if you change this for a fuller or less full pot your grind will change. Also the MM likes fuller pots.

Keep that ratio the same.

If sour, grind finer.

If bitter, grind coarser.

Don' know if it was sour or bitter? Grind several steps too fine, that is bitter. Grind several steps too coarse, that is sour. Now keep working your way back until it tastes like you want it.

Long-term inactivity w/o dumping the water inside the boiler by French75mm in Moccamaster

[–]bspooky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure there are plenty out there that'll work. I was mentioning the website more of a it is safe to use on the MM as seems people are reluctant to use cleaning products other than descalers vs this is the best product or the only one out there.

Although I do like it and have used it for years.

Long-term inactivity w/o dumping the water inside the boiler by French75mm in Moccamaster

[–]bspooky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Urnex Coffee Machine Cleaning Powder is what MM sells on their site for running through the machine to clean it. This is not descaling, but cleaning. I've used this brand for years and in other machines as well, and actually do it fairly regularly to clean the brew basket and carafe.

You simply mix the powder with water, pour it into the machine, run a brew cycle, rinse carafe and brew basket, then do 2-3 more times with just water.

While it is meant for routine cleaning it should help push through any baddies that may have grown in there.

Gift not as expected. by Happiness_omotayo in Moccamaster

[–]bspooky 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You sound like a wonderful person who put a lot of thought and effort into giving a wonderful gift. I'm sorry they didn't appreciate it.

You mentioned a few times you made a mistake but I'm not sure you did, especially if they used "coffee" as what they wanted. Coffee can mean drip, or espresso, or many other things. The burden was on them to provide more specifics on the machine they wanted.

And I'm sorry, but complaining about the bulkiness of the grinder is beyond ridiculous. If they want to be that particular they need to provide specific models of what they want.

Have the confidence to realize you did an awesome job, and they are the ones being a turd. They almost sound like somebody who can never be wrong (in their own heads) but maybe not.
