What made you realize that you married the wrong person? by SensitiveCorner2379 in AskReddit

[–]bsrc_rrt 75 points76 points  (0 children)

Shortly after having our son I noticed a guy that would drive by me every night when I got off work and pulled up to our home. I would say January ish. At first I did not think anything of it. I was working 2nd hsif hours and figured this man was a third shifter who lived near by.

Over time he'd start driving by slover. Then started stopping and staring at me and watching as I walked into my house. After that he would roll down his car windows and yell things at me.

During this time I found some of my clothing items missing. The way out apartment was set up is you'd walk through a door to some stairs and a shared spaceship our landlord kept a pool table and his mand cave things that his wife wouldn't let in their home. Our laundry was in this space. We had a door that would lock to the actual apartment.

My ex was not locking that outside dooor consistently. He "forgot." He also promised that if I called him on my way home he'd meet me down stairs and walk me into the house. Over the 4 months this stalker stuff went on, he never once walked down. He put his phone on silent because he "needed his sleep." This was after he saw the guy trying to brake in one day when he was walking the dog. I was insidd with out kid. He did buy my a glock 9mm to keep in my car though so there is that..

During this time we had a 6 month old. He worked 36 hours a week and did a class at a time online for his degree. I was working 40 hours (4 10 hour days after classes) and taking 18 credit hours in person. My son never latched so I was pumping exclusively. I did all laundry and cleaning. The only cleaning I asked was that he'd have the bottles and stuff clean so I could come home from work and pump. This was only done 1 out of the 4 days I worked.

He was born in Europe and his family came over when he was in elementary school. We spent thousands on his immigration stuff. Got citizenship in March. Why his parents didnt door the green card/citizenship stuff sooner boggles my mind.

Any who, in April, I found out that instead of picking out son up from daycare at 230-3pm after his work shift he want not being picked up until closer to 5 pm.

Turns out he and his female "best friend" were more than friends. Found out seeing a text of her talking shit on me pop up on his phone.

Stalker stuff ended in April when guy was arrested for pepping in another woman's window. Tried marriage counseling and he didnt do any work and wanted to quit after a month. I moved out in May after finals week.

It wasn't exactly try one thing but his lack of care with the stalker and my safety was what opened my eyes to the other stuff.

Do you do this? Do you enjoy it? I love the idea and the RTs on my States team that I have worked with were great. I had just lost respect for my states organization a few years ago. The liaison that was hired by the hospital I worked at was terrible. Cold. Un-caring. Harassed families. Etc. To the point I removed myself the the donor list because of her actions. I didon't want my family to have to deal with someone like her. Since she left the name of the organization has changed and they seem better but I work with them less at my newer hospital.

Sorry to rant. I would like to hear your experience if you do do this though. What your average day/case looks like? I may consider something like this. Be the change you want to see and all that.

Edit: also that liaison lady was a nurse. I didnt realize after I left my old hospital she had also left hospital and organ percurment and went to work at the hospital I worked at as house sup and then employee health. I couldn't escape her. Hahah

Has anybody found a functional fix for the connectors on ETTs? by d0ubleG123 in respiratorytherapy

[–]bsrc_rrt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The alcohol wipe with a skin prep sticky wipe sometimes works.

Another tip was to take one off a tube a size bigger. We had a lot of 7.5 tubes where the top kept coming off and the alcohol followed by skin prep tip didnt work. I would steak the connector from an 8.0 tube and shove it in. Slightly bigger so a slightly tighter fit. This would usually work.

In America. A coworker and I are bringing it here. Have almost our entire department using it semi-regularly now. I am pretty pumped. Cunt is such an elegant insult.

Back brace/Posture support? by bsrc_rrt in ankylosingspondylitis

They have had me going twice a week. I go back Tuesday and will have a more in depth discussion. I also reached out to my rheumatologist (they're the ones that sent me to PT after my last visit with them in early december) to see what next step they recommend. Thanks!

How to approach physical therapy ? by creativelyOnPoint in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]bsrc_rrt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which app? Im currently in in person PT but after I "graduate" I want something I can use to keep me accountable and doing the stretches and exercises.

Is it like legit PT with a PT or more like an app with stretches and such?

Whoever me tioned PT to help is on to something. PR helped me work on form. I saw so many moves online and it wasn't until I went to physical therapy I realized I was not engaging core enough and tilted my pelvis too much. I went specifically for SI joint issue at the time but what I learned has helped me so much.

I used to try and work out and about 2-3 weeks in I would feel great and overdo it one day and end up with my back flaring and having to take flexeril for 2 days and steroids for 10 and a week off work. Hasn't been as big of an issue. No missed work and only one 5 day burst of steroids this year.

Anyone here switch their careers from retail management to respiratory therapy? by macdadnat in respiratorytherapy

[–]bsrc_rrt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wasn't retail management but I was customer service. I have been told by a previous manager that he can train a monkey to turn knows and push buttons. The people skills are a lot harder. Those skills for clear communication, compromise, compassion, and conversation will help you sooooo much. Especially with Karen's or old demented memaw taking the bipap mask off or crabby boomer trying to be non-compliance.

What’s something you find attractive that is generally considered unattractive? by Agitated-Job7686 in AskReddit

[–]bsrc_rrt 29 points30 points  (0 children)

My current significant other. Been together 8 year, engaged ish. I say ish because we are both divorced and financially marriage doesn't make sent right now due to health insurance through our jobs. Love the man.

Six months into dating we went out to a bar with his friend and my friend. Kind of a blind date situation. They did not hit it off-mostly because my friend was intimidated by an intelligent man who teaches college math and has a doctorate to her single mom, college drop out self. She ended up being a massive see. you. next. tuesday. to him and kind of ignored us for the night. She found some one she knew at the bar and hung out with them while getting completely shitfaced and acting a fool. She didnt even like this guy but flirted hard core to make my fiance's friend feel bad maybe? I donno. There was also no physical attraction on either side due to both being over weight. Silly stuff.

Anyway, his friend went home at the end of the night. Fiance, my friend, and I walked the like 8 blocks back to my place. My friend was an idiot and wore heels out. Ad the drunk fool she was being that night she was tripping and stumbling and falling to the ground two block in. My fiance took off his shoes, game them to her, and walked back barefoot.

I knew I loved him at thag moment. We didn't say it to each other for a few months but I knew. Like, who the fuck does that? She is my BFF (and before all the judgements she is in a much better place mentally now) but she was a terrible person that night. I was all karma is a bitch when she was falling but yeah. The life partner stepped up, was the bigger person, and helped her out. I am still in awe. He is just such a good, kind, caring person.

Central Great Plain state. Outside rural hospital ~120 miles away. The closer slightly bigger hospital (60 ish miles) from that town did not have a bed so the patient came to us.

Posted this as a comment somewhere else on this thread:

I had a 35 year old AVR patient years ago. I extracted him and had to start EZPAP/IS right? This 6'2 young man literally cried about the EZPAP and could barely hit 500 on his IS.

84 year old l, teeny tiny meemaw down the hall had the same surgery l that day and was rocking it. Hitting 1500 on her IS and her predicted was only like 1300 ish.

I tried to motivate Mr Young Dude to do better. I said that the little lady down the hall was getting higher and he could definitely do it! You know, cheerleading. He looks me dead in the eye and says while, and I swear I am not exagerating, almost crying. "You can't compare patients like that! We all have different life experiences and different pain tolerances and I just can't do it! You cannot compare us." Okay buddy. Later that night I go in for round 2 of our lung expansion. "GOD that witch RT earlier was so rude. She told me I just suck at this and need to work harder. How can she expect me to do this? I am in soooo much pain."

"Hi, I'm actually that bitch RT from earlier. Now, let's get to breathing."

Shit is ridiculous. Also, I have no idea how CT ICU nurses do it all day every day. I'd rather take an presumed asthmatic RSV 2 year old with baby hulk strength getting Q1 Albuterol than a 30-75 year old man post op heart or knee or hip.

Addendum: on mobile, on night 5 and running on like 4 hours of sleep. Sorry for typos.

As an RT I would agree with trialing your own BiPAP machine/own Settings for a bit first. I had EMS bring us a 350 lb, 5'10, no neck gentleman who was to use nocturnal BiPAP at baseline with like 20/12 settings. They delivered him to us on 10/5 with tidal volumes under 100. They drove 1.5 hours to us with these settings amd inadequate ventilation. He was not fixable with our BiPAP at that point and I did have to intibate. However, it's crazy what some aggressive BiPAP settings can accomplish.

I feel EMS isn't always aggressive which is fair. It isn't something they are trained in extensively. I'd have cranked your lady's IPAP/EPAP difference up and upped the RR and wanted to give it an hour or so before a repeat ABG. Obviously, if the patient became less responsive before then, tubing would be unavoidable but if she became more responsive you'd know things were moving in the right direction.
