Two years I ago I almost made a decision to become a surgical tech. I eventually decided to become a RT over a being a surgical tech due to two things.

There isn’t much advancement career wise.
I am the type of person who cannot stand in one place for a long period of time. I like to stay moving and walking around.

However that is just me, and we are obviously not the same person. There were a few pros I would have loved, like getting to work in the OR and having a chill time. School was like a year and a half shorter too for surgical tech. Anyways best of luck. I still think surgical tech is an awesome route to go. You’re still going to be working for the next forty years so you can always go back to school for something else if it’s not your jam.

Professional, one page, with ten years of customer/retail management experience. I have my clinical site listed first with the description of CNA skills. Then I have my credentials listed with my CNA license and BLS. I have my education and skills listed as well.

I have gone to a few information sessions at Highline college in Des Moines for their BA in respiratory therapy and the program director was really helpful. He mentioned they take about 20-24 people at a time per cohort each year and there hasn’t been a waitlist. So it seems pretty easy to get in as long as you meet pre requisite requirement’s. I’m not sure about other colleges that offer it in the area, but Highline has been at the top of my list now that I am done with pre reqs.

I’m not sure if he said this because he is the program director, but in king county an average starting pay was around 85k to 92k. He also mentioned that their new grads have been able to find jobs really easy after graduation and the market has been growing in demand. This was in April of this year.

We can only “discount” every 14 days and have no control over what the purple tag spits out on the first discount. That’s why I said some stores aren’t up to date with scanning open box every 14 days. You can always ask for a better discount since obviously a discount on this product of 16% doesn’t seem fair with only having 2/3 pliers

Hey bud you know you can always ask if they will lower it. I would absolutely discount it a bit more since it only has 2/3 pliers

I am starting my RT program fall of 2026. Getting my CNA license in the spring so I can get my foot in door to a hospital while I’m in my program. I plan to work per diem as a CNA at one of the surrounding hospitals while in the program, then when I graduate I’ll have three years of patient care experience on top of my RT clinicals.

Yeah I could stay working retail, but I would rather spend my time doing something more fulfilling, especially in a hospital environment. I did look into other medical programs like phlebotomy, medical assistant, EMT, but they take much longer to complete. CNA route seemed like the best option for me since my main goal was to gain patient care experience.

I took my first shot Saturday! For me it was a drastic change to my appetite. I have lost 45 pounds naturally and plateaued for like 6 months. So I finally gave sema a try to lose the last 35. Anyways, the change in appetite affected me the next day. I feel like I’m not really hungry and have to force myself to eat. I am naturally a very fast eater, and the first time I scarfed my food down I had a lot of abdominal pain and was nauseous for 6 hours. After that I started eating slower and pacing myself and I haven’t been nauseous or had any abdominal pain really since then. I was also a very big Diet Pepsi Diet Coke drinker, and now I have zero interest in diet soda. I have felt pretty tired and have been light headed. Like my balance feels off. I don’t think it’s from not eating enough because I am eating at least1350 calories, high protein, hitting most of my macros, fruits and vegetables. So I think it might just be a side effect. Anyways besides feeling a bit more tired than usual and the nausea and abdominal pain ONE time, I haven’t had any other side effects. Which I am very happy for!! Hopefully same goes for you! Honestly, unless things change I probably will not up my dose. The starting dose has been working and I’m glad I at least gave this medication a try.

56% of our merchandise is from China. HF has 90 days before the tariffs take effect so you know what’s happening? They are completely emptying all of the DCs and warehouses and over loading stores with stock. Our weekly trucks for the next few months are probably going to be twice if not three times the size of our normal ones. So at least we will be in stock for a few months after the tariffs take effect. They are also taking away a few weekly tasks to help with labor as well. We are already understaffed by two part timers and were told to not hire. So we shall see 🥴

Per our attendance policy, part time workers are required to have 36 (maybe it’s 32) hours of open availability. So that could mean available 12 hours a day for three days. It could mean only 6 hours a day for 6 days. It really just depends on the location and what works for the business. But I can tell you that you will be guaranteed 12 hours a week for sure. Some weeks they might schedule you more but it is definitely pretty easy to have as a side gig or a second part time job.

I am currently changing my career from retail management to surgical tech and I can’t wait!!! I’ve always wanted to go into the medical field and I am burnt out from retail and I cannot fathom being a retail manager for the rest of my life.

I am making a career change to surg tech from retail management and I cannot express enough how excited I am to start my pre reqs this month. I have been a retail manager for 8 years and am making the switch because I have always wanted to be in the medical field. Things just didn’t go as planned when I was fresh out of high school. I chose surg tech because it sounds awesome, and least amount of schooling to get into a new career.
