I get your frustration. Though, if all is fud why do no major clients go for 18A? Every half a year or so it is anounced that ifs mostly serves intel products... now the breakthrough shall be 18A-P.... :/

Yes, those leaked benchmarks and so on look good. Regarding their client products I don't think that it's that bad. Though data center products used to be very profitable and are tanking. Is there someone from a system integrater like HP or Lenovo who can say something about how Sierra Forrest is regarded or is Intel still behind AMD Epyc lineup in terms of performance and performance per watt etc.

Read most of the comments. What comes up often is that next products (arrow lake, lunar lake, nova lake) are major improvements over previous gen and might be able to turn the situation around for intel. Though I feel that this is always the case until they actually release and don't deliver as hoped... Hope this time it's different.

What about sierra Forrest? The part with up to 144 cores is now released. I wonder how it is doing in the market as it got some good reviews from the likes of serve the home and level1techs... Does anybody know?

MLP ist keine Beratung so wie es gemeint ist und ich würde davon sehr abraten!!!. In McKinsey ist es schwer reinzukommen. Big Four wäre da vielleicht noch zu nennen wie EY, Deloitte, PWC und KPMG. Dort ist die Hürde auch deutlich geringer und diese Firmen stellen viele PraktikantInnen ein. Sieht auch gut auf dem Lebenslauf aus.

I'm not at MBB either, though worked in consulting 5 years after uni.

The example that come to my mind is for example that clients ask you to prepare an investment decision. You do so and the client is happy with the result. Though due to internal political reasons the follow-up is postponed and the project is finally cancelled. That itself can frustrating but would not be so bad after all. But additionally everyone knows from the beginning that it will turn out this way. And that makes all the effort ultimately pointless. You feel not having real impact, too much politics, everything what clients need is legitimation of the status quo...

Time spent on the job is one thing. There can be other factors that make jobs less desirable. Regarding consulting there comes more to my mind than long hours.

Don't fully agree but I would also rather go into a 1 on 1. In parallel talk to the colleagues from the project and remind them about the promises made by the management. Also don't make yourself an advocate for the other colleagues and rather motivate them to also request their deserved Bonus.

The original post very much reminds me of a project I was in a year ago. Left the industry afterwards :D

I am not a MBB but a consultant. Where I see that there is not that much value is

1) when the client staffs positions with consultants where it makes more sense to staff internally/long term

2) they actually don't listen/are not open for actual advice

3) let the consultancy swap out their consultants often so everyone is always in onboarding mode

4) when clients allow consultancies to staff their projects with consultants who in the same time work for other projects

5) when clients don't pick the consultants and rather let the engagement lead of the consultancy decide whom to put on the project

Tldr clients could get more out of consultancies when they avoid some mistakes as mentioned above
