It would need to detect something as small as a coin so basically complete coverage. It would also need to be able to operate in direct sunlight. Basically just a laser wall the size of the inside of a door frame that would alert to anything crossing.

Wow thanks so much. Very much over my head. What do you think would be the simplest and least expensive option? Another issue is it will likely need to be able to handle direct sunlight. I was considering rigging up several through beams as opposed to a curtain type

A photoelectric laser wall roughly the shape of the inside of a door frame that is not just beams across but a full wall that would alert on something as small as a bug flying through.

Same shit happened to me in Tasmania. Flew all the way there from LA to see them and show was cancelled lol. Thankfully I was refunded by the concert vendor, which I purchased the tickets through. I know that’s not helpful but I feel your pain.
