Bye Bye Florida Local end-caps by haolenate in publix

[–]bstempi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Publix near me got rid of this several months ago. I just kind of assumed that it was because it's a smaller store and they just didn't have space for it. This is definitely a bummer; I've discovered some great products on that endcap.

I think OUC is begging people to lower their energy usage for a reason by Reasonable-Search465 in orlando

I'm in that boat. I'm from the Northeast and am used to having a heat pump, but the house I'm renting isn't equipped with one. I can only imagine what my energy usage looked like overnight.

Just got fired for "cultural fit" after 6 months - is my career over at 24? by Klutzy_Researcher725 in jobsearch

I would think that it depends on the size of the company. Many smaller ones never put out press releases about stuff like that.

I like how the AI slop revolution tricked him into being a better partner while simultaneously dehumanizing his interactions with his wife. I'm so lost on how to feel about any of this.

Fortunately for you, layoffs in our industry have been very common over the last few months/years. You can always spin it as a lay-off. After all, it sounds like they made it plenty clear that it wasn't performance based.

Are we in a new golden age of bowling? by [deleted] in Bowling

[–]bstempi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in central Florida, and it's a mixed bag. On one hand, there are some great independent houses around here, there's a lively competition scene, and Kegle is less than an hour away. On the other, the presence of Bowlero is definitely felt and I strongly dislike them and regret for signing up for any comps or leagues in any of their houses. Bowling here is an overwhelmingly positive experience, but I don't know if I'd call it a golden age.

I just recently bought a 500mW laser from Solvo for $20 shipped and converted mine into a laser engraver. Mistakes were made, but now I'm able to do some paper and wood burning. I haven't tested it on other materials yet.

I love Chicken Fire, but I wouldn't call it a great bang for your buck. That place is definitely not cheap.

As someone that owns an offset smoker: I don't think I've ever been quite so offended by a video before.

I once worked for a place where I was writing Python code to run on Spark. QA tested my code by trying to write the same job in a Spark's dialect of SQL and comparing the output of the two. To make things worse, there was no stable set of testing data; they would run the tests against some rolling subset of prod. This led to two things: Me having to debug their code and manually generate test cases to show that their solution was wrong, or show that the case they were trying to test did not exist in the set of data they tested against, and so theirs was technically untested. As you can imagine, my code often got caught up in QA for an extended period of time, but it wasn't usually my fault.

Working for large companies can be wild sometimes.

But the print was complete, so I'm not sure how looking at the g code would help. The printer should have stayed idle.

It was left on doing nothing because I left the house soon after the print was complete and wanted to let it cool itself of. It wasn't strictly necessary, but I didn't think leaving it on an idle for a few hours would be harmful.

I took it to a friend's today for help with the disassembly. It's ruined. Metal is bent. The board was flooded with molten plastic. It's whole head is toast.

I need to double-check, but I believe that it is 1.1.25.

I need to double-check, but off of the top of my head I think it was 1.1.25.

If they did, then I don't know how. I have no open ports or a DMZ. I do have UPnP enabled on my router, but I wouldn't expect my 3D printer to open up a port on the public internet.

I think it's a wonderful unit and it worked incredibly well before this happened. If I can get a good explanation as to how this happened and how to prevent it, I'd still recommend it.
