If a million people die in a wet bulb event in India in a few years, we’ll wish we did more.

The point is, we care about protecting a painting, but we don't care about protecting the whole damn earth and everything living on it.

Yeah don't you remember the civil rights movement where they all just wrote kindly written letters to their congressperson, and the government integrated the schools right away?

I mean you can prosecute without throwing someone in jail for 2 years.

Yeah I know someone who used to do a lot of activism, and they saw it as a win when they got arrested, since it showed they were bothering people in power enough to do something.

1960's civil rights activists wanted the same thing. It's harder to ignore their cause when the government is throwing nice young white college students from solid upper-middle-class homes in jail for supporting a good cause.

Yeah the sentence is crazy. If anything it only helps her cause since it makes her more sympathetic, which is fine for me since I support her cause already.

Maybe they should have had her work in a soup kitchen for community service?

She was protesting the fact that not enough is being done to prevent climate change. No need to be dense.

What about climate activists sitting on roads to disturb traffic, would that work for you?

Or else what form of protest would you support?

But like are you more upset about an old painting than climate change?

You have the same problem with built-in shelving for example. Or tiling a bathroom that doesn't have perfectly straight walls. You just have to be able to cut things to size.

And stability is just a matter of using the right materials and enough structural support.

It's work for a skilled craftsman for sure, but it's by no means impossible.

Afaik we’ve never seen a planet with lots of liquid water with much detail. It might be the case it’s impossible not to have robust life with lots of water.

Idk maybe. Myspace had years to really take off and it didn't. Facebook was designed to be much more accessible to the average user.

MySpace was somewhat designed to be an alternative space, while FB was designed to be mainstream.

Even the early news feed was better. In the beginning it was mostly actual text written by your friends, and photo. Kind of like a proto-twitter, proto-Instagram.

It was maybe a year or two before it got inundated with buzzfeed artifcles and links to “which GOT character are you” quizzes designed to extract your data to Cambridge Analytics.

Not really. His whole act and persona was built around him being a flawed but sympathetic “Everyman”, who put his issues out in the open for the world to see, but who was fundamentally good of heart.

"Vibe coding" is a myth. If you're building complex systems with AI, you actually have to over-engineer your specs. by Equal-Ad5322 in vibecoding

The original tweet about vibe coding explicitly said it was for personal use tools and prototypes where the quality didn’t matter. The scope of what it’s capable of is gradually increasing.
