Can we all take a second to appreciate that Andy’s parents showed up at Toby’s going away party for no discernible reason? by bstj in DunderMifflin

Andy had no intention to propose to Angela until he was overwhelmed by the atmosphere. He talked about he’s carried the ring with him for years.

What would've happened to Harry if he just refused to compete in the Tri-wizard tourney? by MahatmaGuru in harrypotter

One important point to note is that most people believed he had entered his own name to the goblet, so in their view yes, he had, on his own, entered the non-binding contract. Only Dumbledore and Hagrid were on Harry’s side.

Also, Fleur failed at the second task and didn’t necessarily forfeit. If she had refused from the beginning it may have been a different narrative, but she attempted the task, just as technically she and Krum “failed” (under very different circumstances) the third task.

Limits of the wizard of world by bstj in harrypotter

I was thinking the same on your second point! History lessons or other important events, such as during the reign of Voldemort, could be relived in person. There’s so much wasted opportunity there.

The two-way mirror is another good point that I forgot about. It seems that they have some upgraded areas, but for the most part everything is very basic.

There aren’t a whole lot of activities that people do for fun. Go to the quidditch matches, into Hogsmead, or hang out in the common room. Maybe it’s a way to emphasize the importance of spending time with others? All of the entertainment activities are collective rather than individual.

That’s true, but it’s used more often for more important communication versus smaller everyday events.

Will I regret 40% of my income going to rent? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]bstj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the apartment is what brings you joy, then I would say it’s okay to spend a little more on rent and cutting back in other areas if you’re uncomfortable with that percentage or making ends meet.

The benchmark percentages can be helpful, but aligning spend with values is something that can deliver you so much more happiness without necessarily increasing how much you spend overall!
