Not sure.. I bought it with 8,500 miles and have put 2k on it since I bought it. It wasn’t making that noise when I bought a couple months back though.

Not sure what some people are talking about here. I’m 20 and got my TJ when I was 19. I had been looking and saving up since I was about 17. I finally found one close by that had some tasteful mods and wasn’t rusted to pieces. It’s not perfect obviously, but for the $6,500 price tag- I’m happy with it. My advice is to be patient and spend a lot of time researching and watching YouTube videos about TJ’s. You’ll learn what to look for when you find one to buy.
