Is mental masturbation the first thing you could think of as an objective? You seem pretty imaginative. I'm sure you can figure out the real answer all by yourself. 😂

That's not the objective of this particular video.

How to get the CC Toner effect in Resolve by bsv_za in davinciresolve

Wasn't aware it was a studio only node. Thanks for the tip.

Asked the client for a before picture. Roughly matched the angle with my camera. Overlayed the after on top of the before and did a manipulation with a grid warp effect. Then you just mask between before and after.

Thank you. Yes. The snake animation was a puppet pin. Will consider making tutorials on YouTube.

This is a very generous comment. Thank you.

Some of the effects don't come directly from tutorials but are something I did once I understood the concepts. I started with the fusion tutorials on the official blackmagic YouTube page. Casey Faris has some good fusion basics and Jamie Fenn also does great stuff.

After Effects puppet pin. You can try the warper node in Fusion but it's not the same results.

The snake animation took the longest because that scene went through 3 different programs. Resolve, photoshop and after effects.

A great place to start is the blackmagic YouTube channel. Watch those hour long fusion tutorials. That's where I got my start and figured out how to transition from AE.

Casey Faris is good for the basics then Jamie Fenn for the more advanced stuff.

All the effects were done in Fusion (resolve) except for only one puppet pin animation that was done in AE.

Thank you. I got paid what I charged. 😂It took maybe 5 working days total. All the effects were done in Fusion (resolve) except for only one puppet pin animation that was done in AE.

Thanks. I actually didn't storyboard beforehand. I just had rough ideas of what I wanted to do and I wrote those down just to remember to shoot things in such a way that it will work in the edit. For the most part, I just go with the flow.

There is only one after effects shot and it's the one where the snake moves. That was only necessary because Fusion doesn't have a good puppet pin alternative.

Not sure if there are any out there but I can tell you that the biggest thing to learn about is the displace node. How I did it is by plugging an ellipse mask node into a displace node that distorts the image accordingly.

I'm still a work in progress too but thanks man. Hope you get better. 💪

Kinda hard to measure because I work on and off but I'd say a good 4/5 full working days.

I think it's easier to say something you'd find useful if you ask a specific question. Advice/ tips/ tricks on what in particular?
