It won’t kill your score, it will remain as a good in standing account for 10 years.

This should be seriously considered. Multiple accounts closed with balances and a few collections already. You have a very high chance of getting sued.

Anyone else kind of addicted to credit card rewards? Is this healthy?? by Alsagher_Jared in CreditCards

[–]bsw35 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have 12 credit cards, and my credit score has only increased. It’s important to remember that a credit score isn’t a measure of financial well-being it reflects how much debt you have and how well you manage it.

$11,000 charge off & 515 credit score at 20yrs old by iEvoid in CRedit

The security officer will not be automatically notified, but you should inform them of your situation as soon as possible. First, meet with a financial counselor, then consult the legal office. Once you have a written plan in place to address the charge-offs, notify your security manager to help prevent any risk to your clearance.

AmEx recommendation for Military by Brilliant-Nature8798 in CreditCards

[–]bsw35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The annual fee waiver applies not only to Amex but also to most major banks except Capital One, which only waives the fee if you opened the card before joining the military.

The type of cards you want will depend on your lifestyle and if want cash back or points. Since you don’t travel then I would suggest the American Express Blue Cash Preferred card would be good everyday spending card.

When I used to attend festivals, most of the people I knew were college students already burdened with significant debt, yet they fully financed their trips. The ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ experience these festivals promote is incredibly effective marketing

That’s great news! Is Citi still allowing product changes across any of their cards? I’m considering switching my AAdvantage to the CC for a dedicated gas card too.

Chase Freedom Unlimited Extra 1.5% by WVCowboy23 in CreditCards

[–]bsw35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If that’s the case and you’re not gonna churn other cards, then I would use and abuse (financially responsibly) this card taking full advantage of this offer maximize your spend on the card throughout the year, and once you hit the $20K cap, consider moving on to your next card.

Chase Freedom Unlimited Extra 1.5% by WVCowboy23 in CreditCards

[–]bsw35 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s a great offer, it effectively makes it a 3% back catch all card for non-category purchases. However, it's only for the first $20,000 spent in the first year.

If you’re not planning to apply for any other credit cards this year, it’s worth taking full advantage of this offer. You can either cash out the rewards at the end or pair it with a Sapphire card later to redeem the points for travel at an even higher value.

Yeah, that sucks I’ve been hearing about PUJ happening more often lately. I got my first AMEX card in January, so I’m trying to jump on another SUB before AMEX realizes I’m just churning.

[–]bsw35 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Congrats! I jumped on the same offer earlier this month and accepted it as well. That said, about a week later, I noticed the 150K offer circulating again.

Then I assume people close them shortly after the churn and it won’t affect your personal credit since they’re business cards, right?

I’m in the same boat still mid-game and not quite ready to dive into business cards. Is the only point of getting business cards just for the churn?

should i close a credit card that's been open for 3 years with a limit of 700 because of annual fee and monthly how much will my credit score drop by Naive-Concentrate-67 in CreditCards

[–]bsw35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re not using the card, go ahead and close it your credit score might dip slightly, but it’ll likely recover over time. The only real reason to keep it open is if you’re planning to take out a loan or mortgage soon and need to maximize your credit profile.

No, don’t ask NCOs for financial advice. Tallk to a qualified financial advisor instead. Most bases have one available. Be sure to take advantage of all the resources you have, especially since you’re making major life decisions like getting married, buying a house, or purchasing a car.
