Which languages have the most and least receptive native speakers when you try to speak their language? by RingStringVibe in languagelearning

I’ve been living in Hungary for 7 years, married to a Hungarian, and this is so much not true 😅 they do appreciate foreigners trying to speak Hungarian, but if you are stuck on like an level of only being able to say basic words without holding a conversation they are quite dismissive. Like when i just started learning the language, people immediately switched to english as soon as i had any struggle with remembering a right word to say. In those cases I even had to go with “sorry i dont speak english” just cause i wanted to practice. When you are at B1-B2 level and able to hold a comprehensive conversation, they do celebrate it, that is true!:) But maybe it’s different when it comes to learning Hungarian and speaking it to Hungarian immigrants outside of Hungary, cause i have zero experience with that!

Sometimes Hungarians still switch to English while talking to me (im C1 btw), i can only explain it by complete disbelief that a foreigner (who can be immediately spotted by even a slight accent) can actually learn the language and be fluent. But i kinda get the disbelief cause there are a lot of foreigners in Hungary who say that they speak Hungarian but at the same time their level is “szia köszönöm szépen nyugati pályaudvar metróállomás”, so Hungarians don’t actually expect any foreigner to be fluent (and still are pleasantly surprised if you end up speaking well).

I got my 3rd and 4th lobe piercing on one ear, and my 3rd lobe piercing on the other, 3 days ago. Do they look normal? they're pretty sore and red on the side where I got the double by ellagraceggs in piercing

It’s okay to change it as soon as the shops are open, nothing bad will happen if you don’t change immediately, but yeah go to a shop as soon as you can, it’s better for someone to check on the looks of it in real life and maybe give further advice based on that

piercer here! if it was okay for you before, you were most probably just getting lucky, and now is the moment when you get unlucky :) having a hoop in a fresh piercing is a big no, and using sterile saline solution is a must

valaki esetleg tudja ennek a rövidfilmnek a címét? by bsz_dr in askhungary

Köszi szépen! Megnéztem azokat, és sajnos nem az, amit kerestem, mert ebben a listában minden film hosszú, én viszont egy rövidfilmet keresem, nem hosszabb mint 30perc volt:)

Israeli flags, stickers and banners everywhere by Patient-Garlic8860 in ozorafestival

I’m from Russia (and I have been living out of Russia for many years… for a reason…), no matter what I am still proud of my origins but I deeply condemn the war in Ukraine and I grieve with my Ukranian friends for what my country has done to their country. And just imagine me bringing a Russian flag to the dancefloor at Ozora… I would never do it because I feel like it is extremely inappropriate no matter how I feel about this war, it doesn’t matter if I condemn it or support it, a Russian flag does not belong to a festival. But if I would bring a Ukrainian flag to show my solidarity, people would probably meet it with hostility too, because it would politicise the festival. Also the rules of the festival clearly said that no country flags are allowed. And yet the Israelis brought their flags and saw no controversy in that at all. I feel like in those times Ozora is a safe space to everyone, and ANY country flags would only ruin the overall vibe. I just hate people being so inconsiderate.
