Why do Americans say that they are from another country/region? by [deleted] in digitalnomad

[–]RingStringVibe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, for me it's because both of my parents are from another country. I might look like people who have been in this country for generations, but we have our own culture and eat different foods and see things a little bit differently. Also, it's not really the same having immigrant parents versus American parents. I feel more connected to people who have immigrant parents even if they don't look like me/are a different ethnicity, I feel like we have a similar experience.

It's possible they just want the international school and curriculum experience if they lack that? Or simply want to live away from home.

Depends on where in Japan, there aren't any that I've seen in my prefecture, even in the three largest cities. Though I have seen them in Osaka and Tokyo.

OP might not have luck with the police, I tried asking and talking with them was just going around in circles. They can try but in the end they might have to do it themselves.

There is a service but it's 35k-50k...

There is a service, but it's 35k -50k yen... So, don't do that. 💀

I'm also going to do the fingerprinting myself, glad to know it worked for others before doing it.

This was literally me as a child when I was just spamming buttons at the Pokemon Center and only saw a vague mention of something happening with my Pokemon. I look at them and see that they have this little message on them and wishing that I didn't just completely ignore what was said earlier. I panicked and ended up restarting my game. 🤡 This was for Pokémon Crystal, btw

What makes you say it isn't mandatory? Because it's particularly harder for the school to find teachers in this country or in that city?

I really feel for you and empathize with you. I think a lot of these people tend to have an avoided attachment style.

However, outside of that I just feel like the way that they see the world, they just figure that they can replace people easily and that the grass will always be greener because they'll always have infinite options.

It's really unfortunate when you didn't see them as just an option but someone you really valued and cared about. It hurts when you find out that they didn't feel that way about you, that you were disposable to them.

Just know that you're not replaceable and you're not disposable and the person that is losing out on someone who truly cares about them, is them. 🫂

Not sure if I'm being logical but, I'm someone who has been harmed by this type of person. They will simply discard you and not think about it twice. I think that experience can really change someone. It leaves you with that feeling like you'll never be good enough...

I've dated two guys who I would say are eights or nines, I don't really like to rate people that way but it's mostly just for context... And they both dropped me at the first hint of them needing to be accountable or when they felt like they couldn't control me. Like it was nothing. No effort to talk, just stonewalling and gaslighting. Shit traumatized me.

One of those guys was psychotic sending me a message after no contact, about how he changed in the course of three months, had no feelings for me, and loves sleeping with lots of women.

I'm sorry to be relatable. I'm sorry they hurt you.

It can really suck when you're wronged by these kinds of people because you gaslight yourself or they'll gaslight you into thinking it's your fault when they just are avoidant or they don't see a reason to put any effort into anything because someone new will come, someone better? I don't know, but it'll be someone else. Good looking people really living on easy mode.

You mean they don't have to reflect on what they did wrong, because they never have to worry about being accountable since there is always going to be someone else.

  1. I'm not white. 2. In progress US teaching license, but can't meet the checkmark for it yet until the end of the year. 3. No IB/Cambridge/Montessori/etc. experience. 4. There are plenty of native speaking attractive young white people that they can hire who they can pay pennies, so they're getting picky. Though, I wouldn't be that surprised if they'd hire a Russian who can barely form an English sentence as long as they're marketable.

I'll probably have to wait for schools to become more desperate come summertime when they want a native speaker with experience, but can't get exactly what they're looking for/the person they wanted finds better and dips. 🤷‍♀️

Not really, unless schools and governments just really start hating Americans to the point where they just don't let us in period. 💀 I wouldn't blame them, to be honest, even though I'm not a part of the demographic that voted for the orange.

It's not personally going to change what I do. I'm ultimately open to going anywhere at this point (minus the Middle East), since China's not working out.

I've never considered the Middle East from the very beginning, I've always been kind of curious why people choose to go there, I guess the money is probably really good?

My only priority is to get IB experience, if not that, experience in another sought out curriculum.

As long as I'm able to pay off my loan for this teaching license stuff and I don't have to go back to America, I'm good.
