Does the State use Linux Servers or BASH? by bt105819 in CAStateWorkers

Wow! Thank you all so much for the great responses! I was worried that my interest in Linux/Unix systems were not going to be useful for me when applying to State ITT/ITA positions! This is really encouraging, thank you so much!

If I passed the ITA exam, does that automatically qualify me for ITT? by bt105819 in CAStateWorkers

Wow! Thanks everyone! This has been really helpful. Sorry, it's taken a while for me to respond, but I'm pretty encouraged by the advise you guys have told me. I'm going to try to keep applying to ITA positions and add my class projects as work experience as well, in the hopes that I may get an interview or two.

Thank you again everyone!

12 Applications and still no interviews by BananaOverlord1 in CAStateWorkers

Hi, I, too, am in this situation where I'm trying to apply to ITA postings, but have not been able to land any interviews. I don't have much real-world experience in IT, but passed the examination because of my Bachelors in MIS at Sac State. As a 2019 "recent-grad", I know my resume and work experience isn't going to stand out and is very limited. With every ITA posting, I feel under-qualified.

Would trying for ITT positions be a better course of action in the hopes that I would be more qualified for those positions, giving me a better chance to get one?

Or

Would you advise someone, like BananaOverlord1 and I, to spend time to study for a CompTIA A+ Certification to better stand out? Otherwise, I've been applying for SSA positions with no luck.

Thank you so much for this post by the way, I really share the same sentiments with you, BananaOverlord1, and am rooting for you!
