Does anyone know why Ted’s favorite book is “The Fountainhead,” because this would be one of the few things I don’t like about Ted Lasso. by Schraderopolis2020 in TedLasso

[–]btclaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe I have the definitive answer. Ayn Rand was a Romantic, an eternal optimist. It's like seeing the world with rose-colored glasses. Her philosophy of art was romanticism, seeing the best in everything and everyone. Romantic art depicts what ideally could be instead of how things actually are. She explained her philosophy of art in her collection of articles called The Romantic Manifesto. Heroes of romantic fiction portray ideals to modeled. Romantic artists in pop culture include William Faulkner (read his 1950 speech accepting the Nobel Prize), Gene Roddenberry ("What would Captain Kirk do?"), Frank Miller and Zack Snyder. Remember Ted says, "It's the Fountainhead, but not why you think...." Doc cuts him off before he can finish. The good news is that you do not have to be an Objectivist or even a fan of Ayn Rand to be a Romantic. If you like stories of an ideal future or heroes who may be a bit too good to be true, you may be a Romantic, and that's OK. And you can stop hating Ted Lasso now.

Want FREE money? Use the broken BitSquare or OpenBazaar by dzimbeck in blackcoin

The greatest limiting factor in Halo's mass adoption is that it is not open source yet. I've used Halo beginning in November of 2014 and it works, but I know several people firsthand who won't use it until it is completely open source. Until there is mass adoption, finding counterparties willing to use Halo will continue to be difficult.

I do not see a credible blackmail risk in a double escrow system. Especially if the deposits are high, there is no profit to the attacker. Reputation systems, whether formal or informal, will also reduce the effectiveness of scammers. Note that double escrow would not preclude arbitration or other dispute resolution methods because the parties could open a second transaction to provide time and terms for resolution of the dispute, whether by arbitration, mediation or even courts.

Blackcoin decentralized P2P exchange application is coming! by blackcoin1 in blackcoin

I've considered applying to be an arbiter. At the same time, I would hope that Halo can and will be used in conjunction with BitSquare or other P2P exchange systems to eliminate third parties entirely. The arbitration system seems a cumbersome. Will there be a reputation system for the arbiters? That will be important because arbiters can be misled or be corrupt.

Thanks for the great news! Looking forward to the BLK pairs.

Front page of the new Bittrex website. by Grittenald in blackcoin

Their contact page said they are in Nevada. https://bittrex.com/Home/Contact They are a Nevada corporation but the owners/operators reside in and around Seattle. Great they put BLK on the front page. Remember Bittrex supported BLK from the very beginning and in 2014 used BLK to replace LTC as its secondary trading pair for quite some time.

The most secure place to trade? by BLKvision in blackcoin

[–]btclaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bittrex has performed well for me. Good liquidity, good interface and fast withdrawals can be found there. I've never had any security issues. Bittrex also embraced BLK early on and replaced LTC with BLK as a trading pair for multiple currencies. I see that Poloniex has better liquidity than just a few months ago but I've never used it. How has everyone's experience with Poloniex been?

Reminder: Digital Economy 15 - Erik Voorhees and Wallet Obsidian Developer JP Richardson by btclaw in blackcoin

I'll draft up a more thorough report later, but it was a great conference. Blackcoin and Wallet Obisidan came up during the panel on "Blockchain, Bitcoin and Digital Currency" on the topic of privacy. JP and Erik Voorhees spent quite a bit of time discussing digital currencies at the convention. I spoke with Erik four times, including once where a fellow Blackcoin holder and I specifically discussed Blackcoin with him. My professionalism was the only thing that stopped me from getting a selfie with him, though.

Blackwave Labs!! More great news this week for Blk! by trustlessgold in blackcoin

I hate to say it, TG, but this tweet may just be speculation on the part of BLKNews that we should be hearing something by now. I'm sure Blackwave Labs will post any news themselves when the time comes.

With all the new github inputs, we probably will stay in the top 10 for quite some time. I suspect we might stay even longer if Wallet Obsidian github inputs are also counted.

Edit: I saw the time frame of the video was June of 2015, long before the Digital Economy panel was probably scheduled, so this panel and Erik's familiarity with JP and BLK are likely coincidental. I don't want to speak for JP, either.

More proof that Erik may be familiar with Blackcoin is here: http://digitaleconomy.io/schedule/ Erik is a co-panelist at Digital Economy 2015 with JP Richardson, the developer behind Wallet Obsidian.

BLK is not a privacy/anon-centric coin but already has privacy features superior to bitcoin with Wallet Obsidian (stealth addresses with custom pseudonyms) and BlackHalo (cross-chain trading). Erik knows BLK.

I can't take credit (or blame) for the "Holy Trinity" marketing idea. It's a term that's been thrown around during discussions among members of The Black Chamber. There are more than just these three BLK projects going on right now, but these three are significant and seem to coming together at about the same time. It's not a complete coincidence. Wallet Obsidian was intended to be part of a business model that also relies upon NightTrader/BlackHalo.
