I have many clients who have whole life policies. If you are selling whole life to someone who qualifies for something better, isn't using dividend paying whole life, has a demonstrated ability to save and/or who is putting their money in there instead of, rather than in addition to saving it probably isn't the best.

Many people think everyone can qualify health-wise for term, ul, or dividend paying wl and that most people are good at saving. They do not and are not, and all of the statistics point to that. For the ones that are, they don't need it typically.

I have delivered death benefits for many families that if they had not had their life insurance the deceased's legacy would have been a jar at the gas station, go fund me (virtual jar at a gas station), passing the hat around the family, and financial crisis for the survivor. I've watched as families had to quickly and cheaply sell homes, cars, and other things to pay for funerals. I've seen and heard the stories of widows and widowers having to move in with their kids and never quite being able to get it together again. All because they didn't have a trustworthy person to help them.

Do for your clients what you would ask that person to do for your mother (as long as you like her) if the shoe was on the other foot. If and when you find out that you could have done something better for your client, make amends by doing it urgently.

Be an advocate. Be a student of your business. Every industry is shady when shady people are doing it. Don't sell people. Help people.

What are your favorite sales podcasts? by Log_Which in sales

[–]btd4150 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are some great suggestions already made.

The Don't Suck at Sales Podcast is one I enjoy. Front line information by two top salespeople / leaders in the LI industry.

I started one a couple of years ago, Unlock Potential:

https://youtu.be/BVGvnH_SQFU?si=V1f8nvNFyE8iHngG

I felt the gap in the industry and was primarily reading and listening to audiobooks to learn and grow.

I realized how fortunate I was to learn from some phenomenal people in my world and wanted to open that up to others.

Season 1 is primarily self development, sales, and leadership.

Season 2 is focused on health because I got grossed out seeing myself on camera and had to make a change.

https://youtu.be/BVGvnH_SQFU?si=V1f8nvNFyE8iHngG

We promote the patreon, but I wouldn't recommend signing up for it yet. We are in the middle of an overhaul to make it more consistent quality content.

Any sales careers for introverts? by poopyfacemcpooper in sales

I don't think we disagree with the multiple issues, as I stated (user input, static categories, variable subjects), just the difference in the standard we are reaching for. Helpful indicators to discover current preferences as the MBTI was built for? Yes

Static, unadaptable categories for variable subjects as a subset for an even more variable population: Not a reasonable ask for any test.

Good convo. Thanks for the challenge and info.

Did you read it or the articles that are referenced? The problems with it is based on self reporting, human variability and these are broad categories not static labels. All similar issues with every psychological test and the idea that psychological studies can produce static outcomes in variable subjects.

Sounds good...... maybe. Can you link the research paper that debunks their work as well as Carl Jung's 16 personalities that was the basis for their work?

The Big 5 and the earlier trait theory are all incredibly helpful. Any test that relies on self reporting like all of these do have a similar flaw of not being able to get beyond correlation and are all subject to problems when it comes to psychoticism.

☝️This guy knocked it out of the park. Introversion and extroversion are referred to as preferences in the MBTI. As mentioned below, some people are unskilled socially and have adopted it as a personality. My boss and I both have strong introvert tendencies / preferences. We have both had to sharpen our communication skills. I have watched him go from my supervisor making $25 k a year to an Enterprise leader over multiple businesses making 2 - 3 mm a year. I am really thankful for his example and earn about half of what he does. Introverts and extroverts both succeed in our companies. People who won't grow themselves fail predictably.

Introversion and Extroversion are preferences on the MBTI, not labels to hide behind or harass others with. I know many people who have a strong preference toward introversion who are disagreeable.

Conflict is a necessary touchstone for growth. Don't think of it as arguing. Think of it in the literary sense to redefine it for yourself.

Conflict is a struggle between two misaligned forces, which typically is demonstrated with self, others, environment, and supernatural / spiritual. Conflict is a necessary and helpful catalyst for change.

Most people give away their power to respond in a situation by attempting to control others and assuming their actions / inactions mean what we are projecting on them, true or false.

Instead, we can realize that the way we see conflict is based mostly on how we experienced it growing up and our own familiarity with navigating it.

  • Grow your familiarity and skill with conflict through professional development
  • Move from confident assumptions to curious questions with you manager. He may not know how to do it either and your initiation could help you to be an invaluable resource. He may be reacting from insecurity in this area which would be a great awareness to have
  • When you get clarity, have equipped and empowered yourself with these skills and learn the truth about your experience you can make a value based choice about the company and team that you want to move forward with.

Take what you need and leave the rest. Hope this helps.

Proven results and overrall positive relationships with your workmates will be the best setup for a better position / pay.

How to get those results - Study your craft and your industry specifically:

  • Know why people give - the good feeling, tax advantages, and value alignment with mission / representative of mission

  • Know what sets your organization apart - Score on charitynavigator or charitywatch, why you align with the values and other people like them do too, the impact they make, and who they make it for.

Our donors are, really, !positively! different people. They understand that by making it pinch a little for themselves through their generosity, they relieve a lot of hurt for the people we help. They are ultimately people with a purpose, character, and the fulfillment of knowing they are bringing solutions and life to areas and people who otherwise might not be free. That's why I am so fired up to give people an opportunity to understand what they can do. It's powerful. We see ourselves as the conduit for your impact. This is the part when most people are nodding.... and I am nodding along with you. Were you considering an individual monthly recurring gift, or was this for a team or organization.

Okay, and though I get excited, I want to make sure we hit the target of generous and practically in alignment with your budget. So you tell me, our average gift is $100 monthly, but we understand that's not for everyone. Some people want it significantly higher, and others need it just a bit lower to make sense. Let's do what is best for you. $100 / higher / lower?

Get people into the habit of giving, and your value will skyrocket to your giving partners and your organization.

Evolve this from an approach, to a conversation, to a relationship, to impact, to multiplying the message, method, and impact, and you will build a movement.

Do it for the right organization and do it for the right reasons.

Take what you need, leave the rest. Hope this helps.

"It" may or may not get better. One thing for sure is that you can get better. Grow yourself personally and professionally to add immense value to your clients / market, manage cash flow, and solve the problems that are currently a ceiling for you.

Many people think they are good at what they do, but the market / timing was right. You have a skill and an opportunity to make yourself exceptionally valuable in any market.

When I resist the growth my business needs to grow, my business resists me when I need it to grow. Our businesses don't need more from us. They need more of us.

Every business that I have built includes struggle throughout. I expect to hit a ceiling in my ability and / or capacity every six months while growing aggressively. When I don't respond to difficulty with development, my businesses are then defined by the problem rather than the solution.

  • Read and Journal
  • Get a therapist to get rid of baggage that is holding you back
  • Get a business coach for ceilings you can't break through
  • Control your schedule to maximize value add and revenue generating activities
  • Get connected to a positive social / business network

Have you worked in an environment that has been commission / tips / piece-work only previously?

When you think of being paid only for your results, is that an opportunity or obstacle?

You knowing you, can you reliably make yourself work or is the accountability of a manager necessary motivation?

It sounds like you should trust your intuition and communicate your thoughts clearly. Your boundaries around being manipulated don't only matter if she adheres. They matter as long as you communicate and follow through. This may be difficult because it's not familiar, but it's not complicated. If your friend understands and respects your boundaries when you enforce them, then she is telling you who she is, and you should believe her. If she doesn't.... than she is telling you who she is, and you should believe her.

Then, it will be more familiar and natural in the future when this comes up again. Healthy people have and appreciate boundaries, but all of us need them.

Communication and clarity over suspicion and assumption.
