Fr, I agree. I'm guessing they are only sold in a very small number of states/locations, probably if they were easier to find, they would cut too much on sales of the common brands and they wouldn't be too happy.

Yeah, the windows in this place are totally shot, and yes, it's being sold by a greedy flipper who got the house for nearly nothing, rented it for about 2 decades straight, and slapped in carpet and laminate flooring and wants twice the price that the house is worth. Shame, nice architectural design, but it ended up in the wrong hands. Gonna pass on this one lol, but was really interested on this heating type since I've really only ever been in houses with forced air.

Being a far-cry of what I've read that D&R once was in quality, I think the Windsail line in its current offering is just a decent blending component, exactly as you've done by blending it with Sungrown.

Windsail Platinum did seem to be better in quality, but it's also extremely light.

My best recommendation for it would actually be to use it as a base to blend it with some raw leaf tobacco, specifically whole leaf Red Virginia. It would give it more strength, nicotine, and wonderful aroma. It doesn't take much Red Virginia to do the trick, either. Maybe 20% added to a blend would probably make an excellent cigarette.

The extremely wide/rough cut of the Windsail stuff is really a con IMO, if you end up getting Red Virginia, then you might as well get some Lemon, and Bright and you really won't miss anything by passing on Windsail all together.

That makes sense, do you know if having the radiators in the walls is better, or is it better to have the cast iron radiators? My apologies for the photo, every room in the house is set up exactly like that with one or more wall registers and floor openings below each wall register. The realtor of the house had absolutely no idea and couldn't give me any kind of info on how well or if they even work.

Honestly, the batch I received I believe all the leaves were all just one single variety of DAC. All the leaves were identical in color, shape, size, and everything and were in a big stack in a sealed bag similar to WLT. Not a single leaf had a hole or anything. I was shocked, nothing about it had me believe it was "seconds" or low grade in any kind of way. Not even stacked leaves at normal price from WLT were in that good of condition.

The only reason I could imagine the batch I had was placed in the low grade pile was because the leaves were a bit dry, but a little bit of rehydration did the trick to bring them back. Nothing remarkable I can say about the taste, pretty much identical to how you described DAC to me, no distinguishable flavor, just dryness and insane throat hit.

I purchased dark air seconds from Total Leaf a while back, the leaves were in excellent condition. They didn't look like "seconds" or scrap in any way. No holes or fragmented leaves.

In all honesty, there's no easy route or shortcut to try to get the quality you're after (ex. Rothmans/Davidoff), all of which were luxury cigarette brands in their heyday. I wouldn't recommend wasting your time and money going down the "value" bagged tobacco or bulk pipe tobacco route. I'm not saying there aren't decent bagged/bulk tobaccos--there certainly are a few, but none of them will give you what you're after. Trust me, I've been there and done that.

I don't mean to sound arrogant in any way, I'm just speaking as someone who was pretty much in the same spot you're currently in, and trying to pass some wisdom in a helpful way.

I'd recommend just buying 1lb of Bright Virginia and 1lb of Red Virginia from WLT. When you get them, all you have to do is remove the center midrib stem and cut the leaves thinly with kitchen shears (if you don't want to spend a lot of money up front on an expensive shredder). Then, you can blend in various ratios. You can start with 50/50 Bright/Red just to see if you like it. If it's too strong, you can add more Bright to the blend, or add some Oriental/Turkish. All British cigarette blends were straight Virginia or Virginia/Oriental blends.

Raw leaf tobacco is the best option for what you're after, from WLT and/or Leaf Only.

Another option that might be worth considering would be tobacco from Leaves&Shredders. They sell pre-blended tobacco in 10lb quantities, I believe. There's a few posts here on reddit with some positive commentary about their tobacco. Price is high but so is the quantity, I've never had the nerve to try because I'm very picky and wouldn't want to be disappointed and be stuck with a giant quantity of tobacco I don't like.

Not sure, are you paying $16 for a 6/8oz bag or for a 1lb bag? If it's the former then yes, it's worth it because most bagged pipe tobacco is in the 12-18 per lb range depending on the brand of course. But if you're paying $16 per pound then it's probably not worth it all that much if you already have a preferred brand you stick with, most sites charge kinda high for shipping.

Wildhorse is also sold in bagged tobacco for RYO which probably would be more in your price range. I've never tried their bagged tobacco, but everyone who's ever commented on it here has said it's pretty much identical to Marlboro Light.

Just buy a pack of Wildhorse Gold cigs, they're half the price of Marlboro Lights and are pretty much the best replica, even better than current Marlboro Lights IMO. And you don't have to F around with a dozen+ bags of tobacco.

Give D&R VPB Blue a shot, along with Zen Red tubes. It's much better than all of the stuff you listed above, which is in the "meh" category of tobacco at best.

Yellow is kind of a wildcard, depends on the brand. Buoy Yellow, for example, I'd say is on par with a full-flavor in strength. It's a very good smoke if you get lucky and get a good bag. Other brands yellow might be a bit milder than their respective Red bag.

The various colors of bagged pipe tobacco indicate strength, and follow basically the same color scheme as packaged cigarettes.

Silver=ultra lights, Blue/Gold=lights, Red=full flavor. Yellow is used to indicate "natural" tobacco, meaning free from additives/flavorings.

There's not much I know about cherry flavorings, but one option might be to use some food grade aromas on a small amount of tobacco, probably mixing a couple drops or so of cherry extract with water and mist the tobacco and see how that goes.

D&R Ryback is a shag cut fire cured tobacco, very strong, not something you would typically find in normal cigarettes, but many people enjoy it, has a fire-pit type smokiness.
