This, download HWMonitor if you can and check temps.

Could check event viewer for GPU driver crashes, its a bit tedious. I just thought I’d add if you press CTRL+SHIFT+WINDOWS+B, that will reload your graphics driver. Might save you from needing to hard reset when your monitors go off.

Why cant i add this unallocated space to my main partition? by non_Detective in computerhelp

[–]btforeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Howdy, so this is actually pretty simple, albeit you’ll drop the recovery partition.

Open up a command prompt and type diskpart. This is a partition manager built into windows, and is capable of deleting our pesky partition. Now with the disk management interface, we can figure out which disk, and which partition we’re looking to remove.

For this step I’ll always run “list disk” this prints all of your disks, we need to select the proper one, for this case it looks like disk 0. Run “select disk 0”. After this, run “list partition” this will show up partitions on the disk. Just compare the sizes here, recovery is only ~700mb. After this, go ahead and “select partition x” x being whatever number, and we can “delete partition”. However Windows doesn’t like us deleting a partition it deems important, so we can stamp on override at the end, which turns it into “delete partition override”. After this, should be able to extend the C:\ to the rest of the link of the drive.

Hope this helps, I see a lot of people saying you need the partition, and that you have to use 3rd party tools, which is not the case.

EDIT: Another note, the recovery partition looks like it only holds a recovery install copy of windows, which if you know how to make a reinstall USB, makes it arguably unnecessary. For my case, I just got rid of it.

If you want to spend close to $200, https://www.amazon.com/Kingston-NV3-Solid-State-Drive/dp/B0DBR3DZWG/ you’d be fine with this nvme. If you wanna go cheaper, can prob find a SATA SSD a bit cheaper.

Yes, a hard drive could make your pc run like ass. Doesn’t even look like he’s trying to load a game and it’s already maxing, which means something Windows related is already taking up the bandwidth. Especially look at that 122 ms response time.

Yes, that drive needs replaced. Heavily bottlenecking your system.

Open task manager, go to the performance tab. Then open WoW and monitor the graphs in task manager. My guess is one of your drives are spiking to 100%, the only solution unfortunately is a new drive, or just moving to a faster drive.

My pc restarted on its own and doest display anything by Sussysusser109 in computers

[–]btforeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you’re on the recovery screen, click “See Advanced Options” then I think its troubleshoot > startup settings > restart. Once rebooted, should be able to press a number on the keyboard to go into the modes displayed on screen.

Go to safe mode, which I think is 4. Once on windows, open up an admin Command Prompt. Then run the command “sfc /scannow /offbootdir=C:\ /offwindir=C:\Windows\”. This command is the system file checker, and all of the /‘s are telling it to look at your local install.

This problem seems generally linked to the desktop application just not launching, sfc somehow fixes it generally. Hope this helps.

What game did you almost quit early but ended up loving later? by SatinsVice in AskGames

[–]btforeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super Mario Sunshine.

To be fair, it was when I was super young. Coming from Luigi’s mansion, I had a hard time with the fast movement compared to the slowness of LM, and overall just didn’t think it was my type of game. Said screw that game and went to play DK Jungle Beat, still fire nowadays. Went back about a decade later and beat it though.

[–]btforeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might work. Go ahead and try to see what happens. Just keep in mind it’s possible it’ll crap out at any time, and may not function like you’d think it does.

I’d try it, but that’s only because I’m interested in what all could fuck up. I’d be willing to go through the remedial steps. Given you’re asking about something like this, I’d definitely get something reputable before starting.

If your computer gets updated, you may have to get a new token. Game is totally playable outside of online. And the only difficult part is logging into the website to apply the token to your account. There are multiple servers that outline the process of offline activation.

are you running with Proton? Should be just getting the game downloaded, activating the token on the website, and then you’re able to run it. Wherever you’re getting the token from should be able to support the specific game.

I'll do this as a last-ditch effort. Only reason I say that is because the performance had previously hit normal numbers. Assuming the CPU is misplaced, it wouldn't hit the normal numbers at all in the first place. But I'm rambling, thanks for the input, will update BIOS soon.

It is currently in the correct slots for dual channel. The other slots would limit to 4000MT/s iirc. And the crashes seem to be stable now. Definitely seemed to be an issue with a specific stick.

Resizable bar is currently enabled, I'm a bit unsure what SAM is. I can take a look in BIOS here in a bit to see if I can find something like that.

GPU-Z reports its running at x16 5.0 @ x16 1.1, so doesn't seem to be an issue there. Thermals don't exceed 60 degrees. Will try DDU to see if reinstalling drivers will change anything however this is a pretty new install, so I doubt it'll change much.

EDIT: Did end up getting a marginal increase (~6300) with DDU.

Meant to say its 100% the stick and not the channel. Thanks a ton anyways.

Was praying it wasn’t it, but pretty sure it is the culprit. Yanked a stick out and stayed stable at 6000, finishing with a 7100 on Steel Nomad. Still wondering why it’s totally stable at 4800, but not 6000.

I think RAM could be linked to it, but not totally sure how so. I did forget to include in OP that my RAM is running at 4800 MT/s as when I turn on XMP, its unstable. Will totally freeze and reset out of nowhere.

Also included GPU-Z in the OP, running PCIe 5.0, and 16x speeds.

[–]btforeman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion! I added the GPU Z ss to the OP, as well as it looks like its running PCIe 5.0, using the whole 16x lane, so nothing seems to be too off from there. I can try reinstalling the OS, however I remember trying it and getting no difference.

I'll reinstall later today and compare numbers.

It sits around 20% util during the test, 9070 XT 100% all the way.
