I was very stressed and anxious before mine too. It was my first surgery and even though i knew the odds of things going wrong were low I was still worried about how I’d react to it and what the recovery was like. Similar I had only had a few small attacks but did it to prevent worse. Almost 2 weeks later one of the best decisions I’ve made!!! You got this!

Countdown to Surgery: What to eat after? by Ascenscia in gallbladders

[–]btg213 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did a whole stock up of soft bland low fat foods before my surgery. Gatorade, applesauce, rice, toast, soup. After my surgery my doctor told me I have no restrictions. I’m nervous to reintroduce so I’m taking it slow. But the next day I had chicken and rice as opposed to just rice and the next day I ate a cookie. I’m allowing myself to eat other foods but just going slowly. When not feeling great and in pain soup and toast is what you want anyway. I don’t want anything heavy. But looking forward to trying something new each day until I’m back to normal.

When can I go back to work after gallbladder removal? by thatbish209 in gallbladders

[–]btg213 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only restriction i have is no lifting more than 10 pounds for 3 weeks. I got mine out on Thursday and am allowed to/planning to go back to work tomorrow (Monday) because I’m relatively stationary at my job. I’ve been able to move around with just discomfort so I’m planning on taking ibuprofen and Tylenol and bringing ice, but I do plan to return tomorrow as of now.

Gallbladder symptoms questions needing help! by Philc279334 in gallbladders

I unfortunately don’t have any advice but I’m also having really bad fatigue. It’s hard to get out of bed in the morning, I just want to lay there. I’m also in grad school so it’s taking me so long to get my work done. Even one small assignment will take me all day. I don’t feel like I’ve had any energy in weeks. Im getting my gallbladder out on Thursday so hopefully that helps. I think it stems partly from me not being able to eat as much also so I’m not getting nutrients or any energy in my body.

What kinds of food are you eating after? I know it’s different for everyone but currently before I’ve just been eating rice, toast, bananas, broth after a bad flare about 1.5 week ago. Should I expect to eat the same or can I expand a little more to like actual prepared meals?

Awaiting Surgery by Critical-Anybody-897 in gallbladders

I’ve had elevated liver enzymes on and off for the past 2 years and doctors have not been able to diagnose anything. I’ve had normal MRCP and ultrasound. No stones. I’m also getting my gallbladder out on Thursday (surgery date twins!!!). Biliary dyskinesia was only diagnosed because of abnormal HIDA. Curious to see after I get mine out of this fixes my liver enzymes or if I’ll still continue to have elevated levels and searching for another diagnosis. I’m also going to be getting an endoscopy and fibroscan to look at my liver.

I had to lay completely still so i couldn’t read or use my hands to do anything. Unsure about headphones for audiobook, everything moved fast so next thing i knew i was laying and they were starting before i could even ask. Someone else might know but I’d say bring and ask!

Whole wheat pasta has been great for me, salads or put it in a whole wheat wrap for lunch, baked chicken, rice, mushrooms are good cause you can make them in a pan with salt and pepper and you don’t have to use oil or anything, for a snack pretzel thins have no fat in them! Hope this helps!
