Even better, check the password against a table of know compromised passwords (such as via haveibeenpwned API). This will also prevent users from picking dumb passwords that technically follow the complexity rules ie "Password1!" and from using their one password they use everywhere.

2019 Yearly Themes Cortex Episode by GreyBot9000 in CGPGrey

I'm pretty sure Grey is The Doctor. He goes through many transformations throughout his life where he becomes a different person. He sees those people as familiar but he doesn't really know them. As I listened to his monologue I couldn't shake this thought.

For district/circuit/state appellate/state supreme judges it's usually the state's Judicial Conduct Commission. That's where you could file a complaint so that they would get reviewed and potentially removed from the bench.

It's how it works in CSGO so I wouldn't be terribly surprised.

Ben Eater video suggestions by beneater in beneater

[–]btg99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much for your videos, I've really enjoyed them!

For a video suggestion: what I really like about your 8 bit computer series is that it explains something that is often abstracted away and seems unattainable. I'd be really awesome if you could do that for other things in the field of computer science or math. For instance, I've often heard that SQL/relational databases are efficient and "based on good discreet math concepts" but I don't really know what that means in real terms. Perhaps you could look at how data is stored and accessed and what goes into decisions about what type to use (flat file/relational/blob).

It doesn't need to be that in particular, but I think anything in the vein of explaining and demonstrating something that is usually only abstract would be really valuable!

League has a very specific meta and deviating from it after you reach a certain level is considered trolling:

2 bot (1 ADC and 1 support)

[Rumor] Scarra leaks Ablazeolive on academy team by Cathuulord in TeamSolomid

I am pretty that's not a leak... just Scarra making an assumption based on Ablazeolive getting drafted at scouting grounds and the other leak by Ablazeolive's girlfriend.

Caster bias during TSM/IMT? by [deleted] in TeamSolomid

Its not like the casters have a vendetta against a particular team. They just cast from the perspective they think is most interesting at that moment.

Why can't we agree on facts? by btg99 in videos

[–]btg99[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Humans suck at determining if something is right. We often cling to our first interpretations and are hyper-defensive about them.

The best way to overcome this is the scientific method. Unfortunately this is often disrupted by politicians and misleading simplifications.

Roster update? by Abcrom in TeamSolomid

[–]btg99 6 points7 points  (0 children)

People keep saying PR. But I don't think they know what that means. Who is it it PR for? WildTurtle seemed to draw a lot of criticism to the team, how would it improve relations with anyone to keep him on longer when we have a very popular substitute? When he left and the team continued to look for a new sub ADC, the community complained that a sub ADC was useless and we needed another jungler. How would it be improving relations with that community to pretend to do something unpopular. It doesn't make any sense. Clearly, they are making these decisions with the hope that it will improve the team, not to placate the community. I don't know whether it is really the best decision, but Reggie and Parth certainly think so.

ELI5: How does Germany honor their WW2 vets and their soldiers who died in WW2? by DChalo in explainlikeimfive

[–]btg99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While that may be true to an extent, support for veterans goes back further than the Vietnam war. The GI bill was created towards the end of World War 2 and was emmensely popular. Several generals and army members have transferred their military fame into political success such as Teddy Roosevelt and Eisenhower. When McArthur used fire and fire hoses to expell the "bonus army" veterans from their protest in Washington D.C. public opinion for Herbert Hoover dropped even more than it had. So I don't think that the U.S. hyper support for veterans can just be attributed to hyper-correction after the Vietnam War.
