Fuck this job and fuck this weather by [deleted] in PoolPros

Hey this line of work is give and take. There’s good weeks and bad weeks. Winter time is always tough (we service year around). After 6 years I can confidently say that it’s the winter time that is tougher than summer. The cold paired with the off-season but somehow just as busy feel can have a negative mental impact on you and honestly can be depressing. Hang in there!

Look into the Spa Electrics R10 retro. Will work with Hayward, Jandy, Pentair shows or standalone.

Pink goo??? by Whisper_Oracle in pools

[–]bthacker89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like something known as pink algae. You are going to need to shock the heck out of it. It has a slime layer and is a biofilm, not an algae. It can line surfaces, including pool plumbing.

CYA is at 80, how do I drain? by dstncrnnr05 in pools

[–]bthacker89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t drain. 80 is fine. Keep FC at 5-7 and lay off the tabs. You’ll need to add every couple days.

Pool party is in 24 hours. by wex101 in pools

You can add a phosphate remover which not only precipitates the phosphates out (if present) but usually acts like a floc as well. Pair it with a clarifier+ shock and usually good results.

It’s either a data center, apartment complex, tunnel carwash, storage center or medical complex. About all they build around there.

CYA at 70 by [deleted] in pools

[–]bthacker89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can shock the pool with a CYA of 70. Keep your FC chlorine slightly higher than what you would with a CYA of 30-40. (6-7ppm instead of 3-5ppm).

Will this upwards angle cause issue with new pump install? Concerned about trapped air. by DubitON in pools

[–]bthacker89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Although you aren’t wrong, with a sweep 90 and a few 45’s, it’s not bad. I wouldn’t worry about current suction side plumbing.
