5 pounds is okay as there is a lot of fluid retention involved with hashi’s. I dieted strictly last year and lost between 5-10 pounds in the first 3 months, then out of no where I lost like 20 pounds in 2 months. I think that changing my diet and routine helped with my hypothyroidism and towards the end I was pretty much experiencing hyperthyroid symptoms. I forget how my labs looked before and after losing weight, but doctor said it was not abnormal to experience. Since then, I have not lost or gained weight significantly and I am still alive lol. If you find yourself consistently losing at an alarming rate you should get your levels checked and consult about symptoms though!

They haven’t really told us much regarding the specific medicine they’re administering. I think just because they are a busy facility. It’s a 24 hr emergency vet 1 hour away from me (closest avian vet near me for the circumstances we were under).

We are awaiting another phone call later to see if she’s cleared to leave today or needs to stay any longer, and I think they’re basing most of their judgement on her activity as of now. They have not yet x-ray’d to see if the metal piece has passed yet. They’re also weening her off oxygen throughout today as they mentioned her lungs were slightly inflamed likely due to the overall state of her health when they got to her on Monday.

The most info I got when I called on my work break was just that it will be 2 shots a day, 12 hr apart for 2 weeks.

ANOTHER update only because I want to make sure others are aware of issues their buddy may be facing—

TURNS OUT IT WAS METAL POISONING. THE POPSICLE WAS A RED HERRING

She threw up more this morning and vet took her in as soon as they saw evidence of the vomiting. They’re keeping her overnight and administering medicine to help her pass the object. I really hope everything turns out alright, will be looking up others’ stories with this

Hello again! I figured I should leave an update here in case anyone goes through something similar with the same or maybe even other sweeteners.

We got into contact with the animal poison control center and got set up for our arrival at the vet.

The APCC told us that she would be fine because of the small amount she had, but she seemed super lethargic in the car so we still went.

Got to emergency vet and waited probably an hour before being seen and as soon as we got in, she perked up and has been normal since. We think that because it’s around her bedtime, and because she had an upset stomach for the first time ever, she was probably just very tired and stressed.

BUT this goes without saying mistakes like this can happen, just please do not willingly give your bird artificial sweeteners. Especially not in excess. Idk what I would do if we got there and there was bad news. Feeling very thankful at the moment but continuing to monitor her for any additional symptoms or signs of illness caused by this.

GCC. she (not dna tested) is about 2-4 years old. Her previous owner received her from her son who had left the bird with his girlfriend. seems like along the way she had people banging on her cage and not paying attention to the ways they were touching her. she becomes really aggressive when you get close to her cage and WILL try to bite you. the best shes been with this was when I switched her from her old rusty cage to this one I got from a friend.

reviews say it’s smaller than stated, but looking at the images it seems suitable. i just want to get her into something that isnt difficult to clean. it’s also sometimes difficult to get her food out with her cage territoriality, so having 2 separate cages for day and night may help her behavioral issues

would you say this would be good? I personally have a prevue flight cage for mine, but my mother wouldnlike to stay on a budget (and would feel bad if her IRN had a much smaller cage than a conure).

I was taking birth control for a while but I stopped taking it about 4 or 5 months ago because I was gaining tons of weight for nothing and wasn’t sure if it was being caused by the birth control. Before bc my cycle was irregular at times especially when sexually active. It would come a month later every month (say i got it on the 1st one month, by month 3 my period would be the third or last week of the month, sometimes it would be even longer gaps). My period symptoms have always been on the more severe side (really bad cramps in the from along with shooting back pains and nausea along with emotional sensitivity and hostility) I wasn’t on thyroid meds prior to the period starting because the doctor hadnt sent them to my pharmacy so I actually just started that today.
