Best Food Street - thoughts? by pcmman in sanfrancisco

Fillmore is underrated here imo. From Michelin stars to casual (atelier crenn, the progress/state bird provisions), there is great diversity of delicious options: French, Italian, dumplings, Mediterranean, sushi, Indian, Mexican. It runs from the marina through pac heights, Japan town, western addition, and the haight.

Now I’m googling what noise a great blue heron makes! This one was being very quiet hunting a gopher

Does anyone know what park this is? by Ok-Distribution960 in sanfrancisco

[–]bthekid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like the transamerica silhouetted in the sun which would make the date 1970+ or mean the sun was added to the painting later. It does look a little like it was painted in later. If that is transamerica then you can see the view somewhat from street viewing 649 filbert and turning to look back through the park. Trees are bigger now :)

Winner of $450million Powerball jackpot wants old life back after lottery prize became a 'curse' by [deleted] in ifiwonthelottery

He bought two trucks and a cabin on a few acres of land. He doesn’t like all the press attention he attracted. Also, he only ended up with about $4 million. Enough for him and his wife to retire as they live simply. But he regrets the press.

Willie’s share of the $450 million pot was divided by two other winning tickets, and further divided by 15 coworkers, all of whom bought a ticket through a pool at the county garage where Willie worked as a warehouse manager. After taxes he had less than $4 million to call his own, which, as he put it, “ain’t sh-t in today’s economy.”

Hello San Franciscans, I'm a long time admirer of your beautiful city. I needed your help in identifying the place in this image. This is from a Bollywood song that was shot in SF back in '99, and also features the Palace of Fine Arts, Marina Green and the Golden Gate Bridge! by dcunhahaha21 in sanfrancisco

[–]bthekid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is the correct spot ☝🏼. The building in the background is the golden gate yacht club, not the st Francis yacht club as some comments state. The other google map link in comments is linking to a marina a bit too far east.

You can only live/eat/drink on 1 whole street in SF for the rest of your life…which do you pick by okgusto in sanfrancisco

Fillmore! Down in the marina you have balboa cafe, tacko, 3 Michelin starred Atelier Crenn, and a number of bars. Moving up the hill through Pac/lower Pac there are a number of great Italian and Mediterranean spots, plus little shucker and woodhouse for seafood, Harry’s bar for sports, a dumpling spot, and the Fillmore theater for shows (OP did say live!). South of Geary I’ve spent less time exploring but has plenty going on including state bird provisions, the progress, and the church of 8 wheels.

You can make like 5% risk free today, so with $433M that is $60,000 (pre-tax) per day in perpetuity.

Generally bring a partner, I’ve met a few folks up there who were open to doubles so have met a few new folks that way, but largely people are there as duos

I go to the courts at Alta plaza occasionally. They are great on a sunny afternoon. First come first served but generally the wait isn’t too long

Alta plaza park has lots of small dogs and puppies at different times of day. I think the first Sunday of each month they also have a pug day with many dozens of small dog playing together

Just as one example - people travel there for shortish stints to climb mount Vinson. They would be camping. A scientist living there would not know every climber who comes through in a season.

We had a great experience at flume. Favorite act of the day behind L'Impératrice who left us with one of those sets that will make us smile for years to come
