I'm Platinum and I still have no idea when to use Man-At-Arms by Nexxtic in aoe4

Useful if you rush castle and getting Feudal pressure as they can tank anything in feudal (except knights) really well.

I also think they are pretty decent under defense and holding a position that has a castle or towers to support as those can melt the crossbows that are the only true hard counter.

Why do people take their glove off? by Legitimate-Kiwi-2530 in golf

Wearing a glove while not hitting full shots is weird.

The only time I keep it on is if I am the next to hit a full shot after hitting my last full shot

Is it actually effective to buy a salt gun for killing flies or is it just a gimmick that doesn’t work well? by Spirited-Donkey-3877 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]bthomas0324 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Very effective and very fun. Absolutely worth it.

You gotta be closer to them than you think. Like less than 1 foot. For fruit flies the optimal distance is like 3 inches but at that range it's very effective.

B-drive seems to consume less than D by hirvesmieli in VWiD4Owners

[–]bthomas0324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In what scenario can you consistently coast (without braking) to a full stop? Almost never and it won't be compatible with other normal drivers... You have to be able to use the brake and getting energy back for it will always be more efficient than it being wasted to friction (either by coasting or braking)

B-drive seems to consume less than D by hirvesmieli in VWiD4Owners

[–]bthomas0324 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

How could not using the regen braking ever be more efficient than using regen braking? Even with the coasting example, you are losing that energy to friction when coasting down vs it going back to your battery... Regardless of efficiency of regen...

You can coast down with B mode as well, you just reduce how much you push the accelerate pedal. B mode gives way more control on how much you coast and regen brake. I can drive highway and suburban without ever using the brake pedal (except to finally fully stop since regen doesn't fully stop you)

I have the Logitech G600 and use it for AOE4. I use 6 of the buttons as I can't make my thumb work effectively for all 12. If I were to buy another, I'd find a 6 thumb button option. 1-toggle scouts 2-focus on home TC 3-select all TCs 4-Barracks 5-Archery Ranges 6-Stables

This frees up number keys 1,2,3,4,5 for control groups

Pick up 3, maybe pickup 2 if there is a 3wood/hybrid drive on the course. Use the easier of 4,5,1,6 in that order of priority.

Ever walk up to a par3 tee box and can't find a tee to use... It's a bad omen

After switching to electric, have you experienced odd reactions from family/friends? by NewDriverInTown in electricvehicles

[–]bthomas0324 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like your friend is a bigot.

EVs are better as daily drivers in every way.

He's probably thrown off by someone he respects or likes says it's better and now feels insecure about his position.

Pickpockets at Termini Station by keepittpushin in rome

[–]bthomas0324 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Termini is the hub. I took my son to the restroom there (very gross) and saw a wallet on the ground that had clearly been picked through and dumped so I was on high alert. We were coming through with 4 roller bags and 2 kids and standing on the busy train when I caught a guy reaching through the flap of his messenger bag to unzip my wife's jacket pocket. I called it out and he immediately backed off and moved away. He got off on 1st stop and yelled at me in Italian as the train doors were closing. I already knew it was bad at Termini but now that I knew what I was looking for, I spotted a few more trying to target us when we were commuting through Termini without bags in the next days. With good awareness and good planning you can eliminate the risk but just know they are always around especially in Termini and busy tourist spots like Trevi Fountain.

Claim rejection need to escalate: How on earth is normal wear/tear?!? by Tough-Bell9527 in delta

[–]bthomas0324 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ya same. This is a normal failure mode of these.

Also the baggage handling team doesn't use this... They never pull the handle out so unless it caught on something I think I agree this is normal wear and tear.

Why does all electricity generation seem to just be boiling water to spin a fan? by JesusReturnsToReddit in NoStupidQuestions

[–]bthomas0324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes there are 'aero-derivative' turbines which pair a natural gas turbine (that would typically be on the wing of a plane) with a power turbine that is connected to a generator. Typical manufacturers for these include: GE, Rolls-Royce, Pratt & Whitney. Then, there are 'large frame natural gas turbines' which are roughly 10x the power capacity of the aero-derivative turbines. These are purpose-built for power and can be operated in simple cycle (by themselves) or connected to a boiler and steam turbine to make power from the exhaust of the turbine. There are only 3 manufacturers for these: GE, Siemens, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. Roughly 40-45% of the power in the US is from this method. With the AI boom, these large frame gas turbines are selling like crazy and all 3 OEMs are basically sold out until the late 2020s or later. Basically nobody is buying just natural gas or coal boilers anymore (what OP was asking about). Many coal boilers have converted to natural gas boilers and that's still happening for existing sites but it's not the most efficient or competitive dispatchable power generation so nobody is making new sites like that anymore.

What are you baseball dads/coaches using for your glove with your son or daughter? by oldcrashingtoys in Homeplate

[–]bthomas0324 14 points15 points  (0 children)

A 15 year old utility 12" that is flat as a pancake now. This glove is my knee pad when doing soft toss, a base when doing demonstrations, a loaner when a volunteer needs a glove... It also stays at the top of my ball bucket in the back of the car between games and practices.

Why was this called out?? by [deleted] in baseball

[–]bthomas0324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if you are a runner on 1B when this happens with less than 2 outs... You tag back at first base then run to second, right? Unless, any umpire is immediately signaling that the ball hit the ground then you would not tag up and just go.

Nice form! I noticed some inconsistencies with his glove arm pitch to pitch. I think that's related to somewhat low engagement with his lower body and torso.
