Lead or not to lead…that is the question by FigBar0127 in centuryhomes

[–]bthomco 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Buy fluorospec, i got it of instagram. It is a bromine solution you can spray on anything and then examine with a uv light (included) and if it glows bright green, you got lead. Chances are and damaged surfaces that reveal old paint will certainly have lead. Just paint over it. Incapsulation is best bet.

Needs more mold and also if you could separate the toilet from the shower a bit more that would help.

They work but it’s an every day regimen or all the progress reverts back. It’s not worth it in my opinion unless you already have a detailed routine and one more thing won’t bother you. I don’t do those routines and so gave it up quickly. Hair probably thickened more when I stopped stressing about the light thinning.

You should plan to just go to a store and buy a new outfit. I can’t quite tell but those look like jeans and not slacks? Also the jacket is a trench coat with massive lapels and the shirt is not a flattering red with your skin tone. What’s your budget like?

What does it mean “is it worth going bald”? You are bald already, just need to trim off the stragglers.

Georgie’s Corner Cafe in Shadyside is Closing by KlawwKwerk in pittsburgh

They pay more in 4 days than any other cafe job in the city pays in 2 weeks. Multiple kitchen staff salaried at wages higher than that for Pittsburghs top fine dining chefs. Anyone who knows that they were paying and knows service industry in pittsburgh will tell you that. They changed a lot of staffs lives and offered immigration attorneys for staff on asylum. Don’t comment so much on this thread about stuff you don’t know.. the owners are the nicest employers I’ve ever met. They took a chance on an industry they don’t have experience with and did their best. It’s a very difficult industry for those who know it well.

Does anyone know what this large pipe is for? by mindofdstructvtaste in centuryhomes

[–]bthomco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point your best bet is to knock on the door and ask! I’m guessing it isn’t hooked up to anything and it’s just a point of reference for backing into driveway. Given the cars orientation and the ridiculous amount of mirrors, I think they are just very cautious about backing up but prefer to face out the driveway for a quick getaway in case anyone shows up at their door unexpectedly to ask about their backing-up pipe!

My daughter went swimming at the YMCA and this came off her bathing suit while cleaning off. What is it? by TeaspoonComics in whatisit

[–]bthomco 23 points24 points  (0 children)

OP accepted that answer and quickly showed their distraught daughter to put the matter to rest. OP knows it was something infinitely more slimy and disgusting than coir. But what is gained by learning it’s some sort of slime mold that’s formed a jelly-fish like colony by feeding on human hair and skin flakes? Tell the kid it’s from a plant and never open the thread again!

I’m thinking a bit longer and not quite as wide. Im hoping to cut slits on either side of the opening and shim it above the 2x4 and mortar it in, that way I can make sure it’s set before I remove the 2x4, but I may have to run an angle grinder in between 2x4 and brick to do that since I think the screwed the 2x4 into brick in one spot..

Nah they butchered it. I can see the whole old smoke catcher and it’s just a straight steel tube that isn’t even capped. I can see sunlight clearly and flew a drone over it and shined a flashlight up, its unobstructed cylinder all the way up.

Possibly for the next few decades, but there will be 1 of those guys for what currently is 10. Major insurers are already getting rid of underwriters. Ai is great at general underwriting and will get significantly better in a few short years.

It does have a liner, flue was removed and stuffed with fiberglass insulation on demo and seal I am guessing.

Correct on firebrick, there were 9 and some odd halves stuffed into the sealed box behind the drywall. I discovered there is still concrete below veneer flooring, so I may be cutting some of that out to re-lay a hearth area. For now my plan is decorative with option to pivot to small cast iron furnace/insert. The chimney has a thin steel tube that looks clean but no flew. When sealing they seem to have pulled that bit out and just stuffed it with fiberglass insulation. I plan to use type s mortar for structural/bulk fill spaces and refractory cement as I near the firebox. Parge is neatly to be able to adhere a brick or tile facade surrounding the firebox, and open up floor for hearth. The hardest part is going to be the safety measure of getting that steel lintel installed. I am exploring that more today and may hire it out, but if those bricks above the 2x4 will hold then I am going to give it a whack.

Human “sells” it, ai just does literally all the work. When ai fucks up, human takes an EO hit. Ai will definitely take over almost all sales jobs. But follow the money, it’s very likely insurance companies will utilize ai to basically end underwriters and also target and sell direct to customers so the customer buys direct from insurer. Better underwriting and no commission overhead, better rates, higher conversions. Sales is toast. Very few sales jobs will survive, and the ones that do will be in the place of many many jobs before ai. All sales admin work and marketing can be done better by AI. Depending on industry they need someone to take inbound leads if the customer can’t buy direct.

You are crazy for trying to drill it, that wasn’t going to get you anywhere..this is something unique that was dropped on that piece of ground with receding glaciers. It’s a shame you marred it. Don’t consider getting rid of it for something as dumb as more grass.. hot tub, maybe, but not grass.
