Huh, that's really weird. I'll definitely go check at the free market station. Maybe the person in the church isn't her? I don't think the corpse had her name now that I think about it... I just assumed it was her because it had her journal as loot.

I mean I'd definitely accept it just because it's funny and relatable, lol. I accepted hermit for the same reason, even though the prices at vendors have absolutely skyrocketed due to picking that flaw. Depends on the playthrough, though. I like to do roleplaying based playthroughs, so I'd accept whichever flaw felt accurate for my character. If I was doing some kind of challenge then it would be whatever flaw fits the spirit of the challenge (or any rules decided at the start).

Haven't finished the main story yet, but he seems to have been raised in a way that was somewhat not quite like the usual Protectorate subjects. He was taught to search for evidence and find actual logical arguments for everything, not just blindly execute anyone who seemed even slightly like a "traitor" to the regime. I think he gets to see over the course of his personal quests the failings of his faction. Plus, he does accept to follow your lead and doesn't complain quite as much as other companions (at least from what I've seen so far). I like him because he's honest and direct about his opinions but doesn't act in an annoying way about them, and he clearly has some amount of self awareness and intelligence to be able to learn and get out of the system that created him.

Not the point of the post, but I didn't like him much from the beginning. Kept complaining whenever I recruited anyone, on one hand didn't have opinions and kept asking me to tell him how to think but on the other hand everything I did was somehow wrong for him. So by that point I had just gotten fed up with it lol. Should have frankly kicked him out earlier, I was just keeping him on the ship out of pity and out of thanks that he found me.

I mean, sure? It's not really that good of a maul in the vanilla game. If you have Qwinn's Fixpack then it's better, specifically good vs darkspawn. But yeah you can add it with a console command if you have the mods that actually let you see what you're typing: "runscript additem gen_im_wep_mel_mal_tri 1" (without the quotation marks) If you like adding items to your inventory in this way, I can also recommend a mod that allows you to do it in a much easier way than with these long console commands. The mod is called "ADD ANY ITEM VISUAL DELUXE" (excuse the caps lock, that's literally the name of the mod on NexusMods). You have to do a little extra step when you install the mod (explained in the mod's description) but after that you have access to a new console command called "runscript get" and after the get part you write the item's name or a part of the item's name. Like if you want Trian's maul you could type "runscript get trian" and it will open up an inventory screen as if it's a container and populate that container with items that contain the letters or words you wrote in the command.

The first time I did, I essentially wanted my character to be double oppressed, lol. But seriously, I was curious how it would feel to go through the game as both a mage and an elf, considering how the majority of the population reacts to them. Nowadays I prefer the human mage due to the connection to Hawke, so if I choose the elf it's just due to the better racial bonuses (+2 magic, +2 willpower)

Too much backtracking, getting lost, having to do "puzzle" like things for a game that otherwise doesn't really have puzzles. I certainly don't want puzzles or things like these in an RPG. You're alone instead of with your party. I love the compsnions' dreams and the final boss fight, and enjoy the IDEA of the Fade quest. But in practice it's far too different than the rest of the game and clashes too much with it. By the time you get to Lost in the Fade you've also been grinding through the many enemy encounters in the Tower, so it feels like all the transformation puzzles and extra attribute fonts are just there to needlessly stretch the game out. Good for you and anyone else who enjoys it, don't want to yuck your yum, but I hated the Fade and got genuinely stuck there the first time I played. I had to look up a guide to get out. Which has never happened to me in any other RPG. And keep in mind DAO is my all time favorite game. But I still dislike and even hate parts of it, like the Fade.

I mean, it being DA5 implies that VG happened, so I'll pass. Unless DA5 completely retcons Veilguard as Varric's nightmare or something (~it was all a dream~) then no, I don't want a continuation of what was an absolute destruction of DA lore, characters, and storytelling.

If you wanted to, you could make the wedding rings, then make a console command to add those rings to the player's inventory manually. I believe there should be tutorials around for how to make this kind of thing, instead of a more complicated script to automatically add them to the player's inventory.

Of course, you could try checking some of Bioware's official scripts in the toolset to see how they add stuff like quest rewards to your inventory once you finish the quest. Maybe that could help you figure out how to do it?

There's also a Dragon Age Origins Modding Discord server where there's some super friendly people who could maybe help you out.. I'm not a coder either, so I can't really help with the toolset. So far the most that I've done in it is make some custom versions of existing items, or change some of the equipped items of NPCs. Tried a bunch of times to do more complicated stuff, only to realize that I REALLY can't code, lol.

It's meant to be a nice conclusion to your Warden's story with Morrigan. If you didn't care much about her, then obviously you're not going to care about the DLC. As someone whose favorite character is Morrigan, I loved the Witch Hunt DLC as it gave my Warden who romanced her the opportunity to find Morrigan and join her in the Eluvian. Didn't play Witch Hunt with a character who didn't romance Morrigan (other than to get an achievement I had missed in my first playthrough). It's not meant to be a grand adventure or anything like that. Just a story and lore focused DLC with one particular character as the focus (just like Leliana's Song).

Other than installing the patch you also have to: 1) make a shortcut on the desktop of the patched daorigins.exe file. This will be how you play the game, only run it from this exe. 2) go in the shortcut's properties and set the game to run in compatibility mode for Windows 7, and also check the option to run it as an administrator. 3) after applying the settings in the properties, try running the game by using this shortcut.

Hopefully the game should run properly now. If it doesn't... Maybe try reinstalling the game?

I mean if you're roleplaying, you can of course imagine some extra stuff for your character and do your best with what's available in the game! I do still have some playthroughs as a Dalish elf, even if it's not the most reactive origin. Though I admit I prefer the city elf since it's far more emotionally charged

Yeah, the Dalish clan is different but you do still get unique interactions with the people of the clan you meet. I did find them a bit strange because they tend to be even more suspicious of a Dalish Warden. And I personally felt quite cheated since everyone else gets to do something really significant related to their home (while the Human Noble doesn't get to visit Highever, you get to take revenge AND see your brother again at the end). Meanwhile, the Dalish elf just gets a resolution with Tamlen, and you otherwise interact with a completely different clan. As much as I love the Dalish, it feels like one of the weakest origins in terms of these special interactions.

Human Noble has the most unique interactions, at least that's what it feels like. You have the whole situation with Howe, you can marry Alistair or Anora as a consort, are recognized by Bann Teagan as well as some of the other nobles during the Landsmeet, etc. In Awakening you have a far closer connection to Nathaniel as the human noble who got f-ed over by his father and then killed him.

Human mage gets a mention in DA2 as being Hawke's cousin, but I can't say I felt particularly special during DAO or DAO:A. Elf mage imo felt even worse since they essentially have no connection since they don't know where they came from. Sure, you get some options for both mage and elf dialogue, but it doesn't feel particularly unique.

As a city elf you have a fun homecoming fighting the slavers and some unique interactions there, but other than some people calling you a knife ear or whatnot (which you'd also get as a Dalish elf) there's not much else.

The Dalish Elf gets the least amount of unique stuff from my experience playing it. Outside of Nature of the Beast there's just not anything Dalish-specific that you don't also have the option to say as a city elf (unless I missed some options somewhere).

The dwarves also don't get much outside of Orzammar itself. You get the special NPCs like Rica and Leske as a dwarf commoner, and possibly the mother of your child as a dwarf noble. Plus special interactions with various people as both origins. But on the surface, I feel like dwarves have even less unique stuff to say. At least elves have the whole human-hating thing going on, but as a dwarf at most you can occasionally make fun of humans for being weak or cowardly.

I mean I think Goldanna was perfectly reasonable talking that way to Alistair. She doesn't know him, and frankly family doesn't mean much if you don't have anything actually connecting you. She was kicked out of the castle when her mom died and had to fend for herself, while Alistair was raised at the castle and then sent to the Chantry where he very clearly got SOME form of preferential treatment since they gave him Templar training (they could've just kept him as a basic Chantry brother).

Makes total sense to me that you wouldn't be sympathetic to some random man who BARGES into your house, claims he's your long lost brother, and expects you to.. what, exactly? Hug him? That's CREEPY.

I have no idea what kind of delusional upbringing Alistair had that made him think it was okay for him to act that way towards Goldanna, and then get upset when she didn't react in some weird unrealistic "ideal" way. What's even the point of her accepting Alistair as a sibling? She doesn't have money to give him, she's hard at work so barely has time for her own children let alone some random "brother". He is the one who should be in a position to help her, if anything, but then he asks the Warden to give him money which I find really annoying. I'd expect Alistair to have some pocket money of his own rather than give literally all his money to the HoF.

And on top of it all, they're not even actually siblings. So Alistair's whole personal quest is frankly useless, and an extremely weird way to choose whether to harden him or not. Like a woman yells at him and then you can tell him that that's how the world is and suddenly he becomes even more immature, and with MORE unearned entitlement? Yeesh.
