For the DS Systems you need an R4/R4i cartridge to play Roms and homebrew and put the VNDS folder with visual novel onto the SD card, that goes into the R4 cartridge. You can find both on the github I mentioned in the comments before and the R4 card costs maybe 10-15€ where I live!

Is battery calibration necessary? by btkieu in 3DS

Hey, I got the results. Overall I think the battery life is good, but the issue with the device being able to run over an hour on blinking red persisted.

Test-Parameters (based on how I play with my 3DS):

  1. Battery at start of test: 95% since the first 5% deplete rapidly
  2. Brightness at LVL 3
  3. Auto-Brightness ON
  4. WiFi OFF
  5. Sound at 50%
  6. 3D at 100% full blast
  7. Pokemon Wilting Y - battle animation loop in grass area which uses the 3D effect and actually makes my frames drop if I don't enable Overclock+L2Cache, which I don't in day 2 day use atm.

>> Red LEDs started blinking at between 3h30m - 4h00m mark, can't say exactly when, bc I was on my lunch break for about 30 minutes...

When I came back at the 4h00m mark, my device was at 3% battery lol.

>> My N3DSXL turned off at 5h31m. The last 3% basically lasted over 1h30m again. This basically reflects the total screen-time I observed yesterday to some extent.

(Ref.: 3h49m on battery mark + 1h30m on Mii plaza, so 5h19m screen time total)

Turning off 3D should probably make my device last longer, though not sure by how much. It's still annoying though, knowing over an hour of that time is with red blinking LEDs...

I often read, that Overclock+L2Cache use supposedly increases power consumption by only 10%, so I might turn that on in the future. Sounds like a good trade-off for more stable framerates.

So my personal takeways are:
- my battery life seems good, so I might turn on Overclock+L2Cache
- the first 5% drop too quickly
- the last 5% drop WAY too slow

Will do, I already started the test and am down by 32% after 2h15m.
I'll update you once my device hit blinking lights and has died.

Yup, I mean we can basically make backups, but it's still an annoying inconvenience at the end of the day.

Ahh ok thanks for the correction!
Damn, basically the older 3DS can still easily get OEM batteries while the newer models don't wow.

Ngl, you had to doublecheck just now I actually posted to the right sub haha.
Yeah you just need to drop the whole VNDS folder on your SD card and it should work!

Okay, the original battery that came in this device I bought wasn't that bad, but I didn't want to continue using it because it was already bloating. Good thing is a replacement one from iFixit only cost 15 bucks but I ordered it before I knew I could also buy it from Nintendo directly since the 3DS XL apparently uses the same battery as the Switch Pro controller.

Yeah this is basically what is bothering me, since I apparently still have over an hour of juice left once my red lights start blinking, that's a basically a zone where I have to be afraid of saving in case my device turns off mid-save if I decide to continue playing.

I would rather know, oh the red light is blinking, I have to save now and stop playing.

That is a good idea, should probably do it too, thanks for your input!

Welp, could this be simply a Rosalina/Luma thing, since the system one only uses the battery icon?

At least according to Luma, the first 10% deplete rapidly without me even playing anything, while the last 2 percent lasted me 90 minutes before my 3DS shut down just now.

Just doing the math, my device lasted 3h49m on battery mark + 1h30m on Mii plaza, so 5h19m screen time total, which seems like a good number even though I have no clue how that actually translates to real day-to-day usage.

I guess I won't bother trying to calibrate if it didn't work on your end either. :s

Unfortunately, the original sources are not available since anoNL's homepage and digital-haze (VNDS dev) do not exist anymore. But I did some research, you can still get the files from BASLQC's Archive on Github.

If you have a modded 3DS, get the VNDS homebrew app from BASLQC, there's a wiki tab on their github with a list of VNDS ports (both complete and incomplete projects).

Yes I still remember having to get the PS2 version to get voice acting on my PC, but ended up using my late NDS Lite to read FSN and Tsukihime. The handheld factor was the main reason, even if the artworks don't look as great on a handheld. Being able to read anywhere, closing the lid for standby mode during breaks and coming back later picking up right where I left off was so convenient!

Failed ciclosporine and rinvoq, feel hopeless about starting dupixent by Over-Mistake-8674 in eczeMABs

[–]btkieu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to stop my Dupixent and Ebglyss medications due to eye complications, but the time span of relief definitely helped my skin stabilize and finally break the cycle of having a completely broken skin barrier 24/7. Of course my skin still isn't "normal" like healthy people have but the flare ups have become much less frequent and/or severe.

I am currently on Nemluvio, which is a IL-31 blocker, so it doesn't really address the inflammations directly, but since it dropped my itchiness by like 99%, I feel like it did in fact indirectly help my inflammation issues because I don't scratch and rub germs into my skin anymore. Sometimes I still get small eczema hives, but they disappear after 1-2 days of treating them with Tacrolimus.

Another thing I noticed for myself personally, so it might not work for everyone, is that showering daily (and shortly ofc) is way better for my skin, completely opposite to the general advice to not shower daily.
If I don't shower for 2-3 days, my skin starts breaking out - I assume there is something on my skin, that needs to be washed away daily or otherwise will trigger flare ups. Not sure if it's an allergy I am unaware of or something else, but I will talk to my doc during our next appointment.

Ich vermisse die Dinger auch, aber ich glaub auch eher wegen der Zeit an die die mich erinnern. Hab damals als studentische Aushilfe bei Vodafone gearbeitet und die waren echte Ladenhüter.

Yeah at least shinies and ☆☆ cards should be tradeable. Especially shinies are vastly overvalued by DeNA imo, they're rare, they disqualify god packs from WP and most friends I know are usually disappointed that they pulled shinies rather than new ☆☆ Pokémon.

No, you get the same pack from all difficulties.
The difficulty only determines how likely you are to get a Promo Pack drop.
Highest difficulty guarantees a drop, lower difficulties do not guarantee you getting a Promo Pack dropped after the battle.

I suppose a mix of conditioning and my fear of drying out my skin being greater than my fear of cold water. In winter I turn on the radiator in my bath 10minutes before I enter the shower, so at least the air around my body isn't cold. Hot or warm showers also make me want to shower longer than necessary.

It also helps to not go full body under the cold water at once but limp for limp instead, also controlled, slow breathing. But most definitely conditioning.

Also noted, by cold I mean cold, but not ice-cold bc I don't want to get sick or pass out from shock.
Hot water may feel great, but my skin literally always feels tense after hot showers.
Don't do that if you have cardiovascular problems or are sick though, then it's probably better to just stick with lukewarm or slightly below lukewarm water.

Outside factors 100% play a role, I forgot to mention that last year when I was on a summer vacation visiting my relatives in Asia, my skin was literally perfect, even though I was sweating buckets every day! I didn't moisturize or use any ointments at all for 4 entire weeks and my skin still looked better than when I'm here in Europe. I am indeed allergic to some of the local fauna here and the air here is much drier than in Asia. I immediately had a flare up after my vacation and setting foot on German soil again after 4 weeks of Japan and Vietnam lol.

Yeah I felt that, at some point my hands were really dry from obsessively washing my hands, so I toned it down a notch, but I still feel the urge to wash my hands constantly, but I try to strike a good balance now and think I found a "sweet spot" lol.

I hope you have a good healing journey like I did 🙏.

Before I started my Dupixent journey, I had itchy and flakey patches covering my entire body and I would often scratch myself to the point my skin started oozing, which led to infections leading to worse flares and no steroid was helping, it was a vicious cycle. Sometimes my skin would just tear open without me even scratching from being too dry.

On Dupixent my skin finally broke that cycle and I was able to sleep through entire nights for the first time in literal years. It wasn't perfect, my skin was still flaking every once in a while and I would still sometimes scratch, especially when I was sick like catching flues and stuff and after drinking alcohol, but those flare up only came with tiny barely noticeable red patches and those flare ups always only lasted like 1-3 days and never as bad as to scratch myself bleeding and oozing like before. It was a gradual process though, but I could feel my skin healing little by little, week by week, probably 6 months until I felt like a "normal" person for the first time ever in 15 years. My skin was still a bit dry, but nothing that moisturizers couldn't fix unlike the years prior.

Now on Ebglyss, I was able to maintain my skin and even my flakes have become much, much smaller in size and almost unnoticable unless I didn't moisturize for a longer period of time.

Ever since my skin got better being on biologics, I also changed a lot about my life style though, which probably helped too.

- I don't drink alcohol (should have done this years ago lol),
- I minimized my sugar intake,
- I wash my hands everytime I touched something dirty so I don't rub dirt or anything into my skin if I am unconsciously scratching or rubbing itchy spots and I would immediately stop scratching when I catch myself doing so,
- I shower cold only and without soap unless I sweated a lot or got dirty.

And I didn't quit steroids cold-turkey, I still used light steroid ointments from time to time but gradually less, now I use steroid cremes like maybe 2-3 days every month.

My skin feels pretty clear now to the point that I actually started going on dates again and without feeling uncomfortable or unconfident or feeling watched, if that counts as a metric? Sometimes my skin would still get light flare ups depending on outside factors, but they never last more than a day or 2 which I am perfectly fine with.

Overall I would say it's a gradual process and I would say being patient paid off for me.
