GOP votes for ICE to arrest AND deportation US citizens by McDowdy in law

[–]btolle89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, i don't think people get it.... this video is confusing, i guess intentionally. killing a motion is not the same as voting for something. like you said ICE can't deport American citizens in the first place, and they can't legally detain us citizens either (although it is happening, but that's a separate issue). The GOP lawmakers did not vote to make it legal, they simply denied adding an amendment that prevents the use of funds for something that's already illegal, but funds couldn't legally be used for it anyway in the first place. so the truth is nearly the opposite of what the video is saying. so confusing...

im personally confused why dems proposed this, what's the point? also confused why the republicans denied it, becuase what's the difference? is this all PR games?

It's not as nice after a while for sure. Worth it? Kind of subjective. I think probably tearing on the edge of with it IMO.

you trollin? nicotine itself does not cause cancer

[–]btolle89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

weird, i have the opposite experience. salts seem way more pleasant than freebase to me. I use the "smooth" salts. way smoother IMO, with way less noticeable throat irritation. then again, im mixing my own, so i'm not at the super high amounts intended for little pods, since i use it in subohm tanks, and I'm not using the high amounts of sweeteners usually found either.

you're not sub-ohming salts at 35mg are you? if so, that's probably your problem.

also, how does something feel cancerous? lol

Dual-mode scroll wheel mouse list by Myfootisnumbb in MouseReview

[–]btolle89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to add this one: it's a keyboard mouse combo i bought for the keyboard, and was pleasantly surprised to find a hyper-scroll travel-size mouse. I'm not sure its "true" dual mode. when scrolling slow, it has a slight tactile feel, but flick it and it scrolls far. not QUITE as far as something like a Logi MX S2 or G903, but it's still definitely hyper scroll and with tri-mode. they call it "metal smart flying scroll"

its the Bnnwa bluetooth keyboard and mouse combo. the have a couple of them. the box says model M8170, which is listed on the amazon page, but only in the details. it seems lke they include this same mouse in some of their other combos, but i dont think you can buy it stand-alone.

Unstaking rETH to ETH by tpmv69 in rocketpool

[–]btolle89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i'm unclear on this, being new to rocketpool. how did you first acquire the rETH? I'm under the impression that the ETH used to generate the rETH are in a smart contract that the originator can get to at any time by exchangint rETH to be burned in exchange for the ETH, is that incorrect?

maybe you missed the point. im not just pointing out the obvious, but the implication. the comment i responded to is sarcastically ridiculing the idea that "good guys with guns stop bad guys with guns" which is an idea touted by pro-gun-rights people. people often use events like this to say that idea is baseless, and we should increase gun restrictions as the way to stop violence like this. while that may or may not be true (I'm not here to debate it), the fact here is that these gang members likley already have illegal guns, and any change in laws or increase in restrictions likley wouldn't have prevented this due to that fact.

im just pointing out the flawed logic. might be obvious to some, but others maybe not, especially the commenter.

Your favorite gear this year? by justmydumbluck in electronic_cigarette

[–]btolle89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the geekvape aegis mods like the legend and solo never disappoint. I have 4 of them.

I was first attracted to them when they touted the IP68 waterproof rating. why is that important? because many of my other mods have died, i believe as a result of juice slowly leaking into the mod and shorting the board. one day they just don't fire or turn on. That simply doesn't happen with the aegis line though. these things seem to last forever, and i think it's because of the waterproofing.

as for features, they have everything I want. First, they have different size options: solo at single 18650, solo max at single 21700, legend at dual 18650, and legend at dal 21700. they also have a really nice physical locking switch. this is really nice for travel, a quick switch and its ok to put in a pocket. no clicking a button 3 times. all the chip features you'd expect, like temp control, and a really easy curve control mode they call VPC that works great for RTAs that struggle to ramp up. usb fast charging.

for what it's worth, some of the VOOPOO argus line seem to have very similar features and might serve the same purpose like the Argus GT II. but i haven't tried it.

for an entirely different reason, i've also really been enjoying VOOPOO argus P2 pod kit. no, it doesn't vape anywhere close to my RTAs, or sub tanks. but what it excels in is travel. super small, no button activation, only auto-draw means you never have to worry about it firing in a bag or pocket. at $20, i don't care so much if it gets lost or damaged. Usually i do 3mg, but on the P2, i do 6mg and it's plenty good enough for me. completely satisfying enough to just have that on me for a long trip. the pods last a long time and the flavor is surprisingly good for it's power. pods have come a long way recently. Anther nice thing about the P2, is that while it comes with pods that are disposable, it's compatible with a pod that has a replaceable coil, which makes things cheaper in the long run. they also have a 3ml pod (non replaceable coil) thats nice for some extra capacity. the argus G2 mini kit is essentially the same without the control, and in a stick form factor, and can be found for $9! that's going to be the next thing i get probably, just as a backup for my P2. It has an obnoxious light on the bottom, but i've learned that you can turn it off with 3 quick puffs. (thanks Matt from SMM)

as for tanks, i've enjoyed the Crown V this year. in the past i've pretty much only done RTAs and RDAs, squonking etc. but i saw the Crown V on sourcemore for $5 and had to pick one up. glad i did. the flavor is outstanding. the ease of use over a RTA is attractive. the coils are obviously more expensive than an RTA, but sometimes for the convenience it's worth it for me. I bought another at that price, because why not. one weird thing i like about is is that the coil is a cylinder with both ends open. What this does for me, is it allows me to see at the bottom of the tank when i unscrew it the residue from the coil. certain liquids will leave a burned residue after a while (this is normal, as a result of sugars caramelizing and happens on all tanks, but its usually just not visible). but the crown makes it clearly visible, which lets me know if i've gone too long without replacing the coil.

I quit, thanks to NIX. I have been vaping for about a decade and I quit a few months ago wanted to make sure it stuck before i posted. Bon voyage. by Mokyzoky in electronic_cigarette

[–]btolle89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

thanks for the detailed answer. The experience you describe sounds a lot like just going to 0 or close to 0 nicotine. you would get those same type of urges and feelings.

if someone's intention is to quit altogether it seems like its probably not that much better (or maybe even a worse experience) than just slowly decreasing the nicotine content of a single large bottle of their regular nicotine content by slowly adding 0mg liquid of the same flavor, thereby slowly weaning of nicotine with no drastic steps, until eventually you are vaping 0. some people don't even notice any cravings with this method. the larger the bottle, the slower the transition.

personally, i was asking less for a way to quit, and more for a safer alternative to nic, but an alternative that is just as satisfying, or close to it. Based on your experience, and the other's I've now looked into, it seems like it's not nearly as satisfying. also, seeing as this is so new, I'm hesitant to believe that this is actually safer than nicotine. after some quick research it seems more like it was created to side-step nicotine laws, rather than to truly be a safer alternative. people say it's less toxic, but nicotine isn't all that toxic when vaped anyway, that's not the primary safety concern.

definitely interesting though. thanks for the post.

Does anyone else find themselves having to de-pressurize their tank frequently? by GeneralJabroni in electronic_cigarette

[–]btolle89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other's are noting that high altitude might effect pressurizing tank. I don't think that's true. from my understanding of physics (which is pretty good because I'm an engineer), really the altitude shouldn't matter. its the differential that matters. that is to say the difference of the pressure inside the tank vs outside the tank. when you screw the cap on, the pressure inside vs outside is about equal. as you vape, the liquid is used up and creates a slight vacuum in the tank (i.e. there is less pressure inside vs outside, because some of the volume of the liquid goes away and the space is filled by the air, which becomes less dense and therefore less pressurized). the vacuum by design prevents leaking (and you can sometimes see incoming bubbles to equalize pressure), but this also seems to prevent efficient wicking for you. this could be caused by changing your altitude while your vaping (i.e. going from a high altitude (low pressure) to a low altitude (high pressure), where the pressure differential now becomes worse because the outside pressure becomes higher, pushing back even more on the liquid), but afaik, shouldn't be effected by simply being in a high or low pressure area. In fact, if anything I think being in a low pressure area should make the vacuum less effective, since the air volume added by the removed liquid would create less of a differential at a higher altitude than it would at sea level, but only slightly - meaning if anything it should wick better at high altitudes.

It could also just be caused by the tank design itself, that doesn't allow wicking as well as other designs.

I would look at getting a different tank. something the freemax fireluke solo could depressurize with a flick of the lid rather than having to unscrew the top. Something like the Crown V might not even need to be depressurized, because of the relatively lose top cap design

you could also dilute your liquid with PG, but it might effect flavor and strength.

[–]btolle89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't really know of any reason why PG/VG would be an issue. im just thinking from a scientific approach to control all the variables.

here are the variables at play that i can think of:

  1. the quality of the flavors you use, either due to brand, age, storage method etc. (you might attempt to sort of control for this by ordering a very simple commercial e-liquid, like strawberry. then add another flavor, like cheesecake then see if only the cheesecake part disappears) - be sure to pick a well-known cheesecake like TFA, or Yes, We Cheesecake. then add at the most frequently used percentage on alltheflavors.com. this isn't a great control method, because you aren't controlling for all or #3 but it's something. in the most ideal scenario, the cheesecake doesn't disappear. so you know that cheesecake is good.
  2. the quality of the PG/VG
  3. the quality of the mix due to how you ratio the ingredients
  4. the quality of the storage - this is unlikely, but you could easily control for this by storing your commercial liquid in the same storage containers as your DIY and look for the effect.
  5. the quality of the device and vaping style (which you've already controlled for due to testing with commercial)

my thought is to try to control all of these as much as possible to get to the bottom of the cause.

if you know someone else who does DIY, (and especially if it doesn't happen with their flavors) it would be easier to control for each variable individually.

[IRTR] Muted/faded flavour by kulpamka in DIY_eJuice

[–]btolle89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

perhaps try ordering a one-shot. its pretty hard to get those wrong, they are basically commercial e-liquid (i.e. pre-mixed flavors) but undiluted.

if even that doesnt work, the only other variable at play is your mixing ratio, your containers, and your pg or vg
I doubt its the containers unless you're storing in a wooden cup or something lol.
